    Region 3-4A

Since all these other regions have "quality" discussions going on about them, I felt it only fitting that the toughest region in the state be represented on the first page of threads.
  4. db will scrimmage Halls this spring in late may. I'm not sure of the exact date. Don't know if this is their only scrimmage or when their only practice dates are.

    Loudon Football

Automatic, I beg to differ about the toughest region in the state. I will say that it's the toughest 3A region. That two state-conteders in a row stuff can't compare to region 3-4A. powell- '91 (2A before 5 classifications) clinton- '92 (3A before 5 classifications) cleveland- '93,'94,'95 (when they were in 3-4A) Halls- '96 maryville- '97,'98 central- '99 maryville- '00,'01,'02 If I'm not mistaken that's 12 state contenders in a row.
  7. Speaking of gibbs, when are they going to renew their Emory Road rivalries with Halls and powell? Those were big gate games for all schools involved.

    DEAD PERIOD

It seems to me that the idea was to limit summer basketball. The problem is that it hurts fall football. I'm sorry to hear that the situation in blount co. is anti-religion. I guess they frown on family vacations their too. But schools I've been around don't get upset when kids go to football camps, vacations, play other sports, or go on church trips. The problem is that it stops the progress kids make physically over the summer which is preparing them for upcoming practices. It is true that a few dedicated players continue their training on their own, but for the most part, players sit in the air-conditioning and watch TV for two weeks. If the tssaa wants to limit basketball, then limit basketball. Don't punish the other sports. Of course that would violate somebody's rights and we can't have that can we.
  9. I wondered how long it would take before the goat chimed in on this one. You forgot black shoes and a gut. I think those are a must for any good coach.
  10. I'd say that's not very fair to others interested in the job. Think how hard it would be to come into a program knowing that someone has been officially leading. Planning offenses and defenses, running practices, etc... All of which may have to be changed when a new coach is hired. On top of that, doesn't this plan give the interim coach a leg up on the competition? Why don't they just go ahead and give the guy the job and stop yankin' the kids around?
  11. I read in the paper last year that the county would not pay for handicap seating at Halls, but carter gets new bleachers!!?? Is that unfair? I've also been told that carter has the nicest practice field in the county. Maybe the community needs to get their priorities in line rather than trying restructure the tax expenditures of the county.
  12. What the heck does that mean? If carter doesn't get their share, then they ought to be looking for a new county commissioner, not complaining about it on coacht.
  13. It's a good thing the maryville/carter game is at maryville next season, or flyout would be petitioning to have the game palyed at a neutral site. I'd hate the defending state champs to get their cute little uniforms dirty. Maybe turf is the answer.
  14. walkoutpro, coaches are responsible for field maintanance in knox co. Other areas of E.TN. are more fortunate to be able to contract their field work to private companies, but knox co. schools is just too big for that.
  15. there's still the rumor floating around that Coach Meadows will be hired at alcoa. Don't know how much truth there is to that, but I keep on hearing it.
  16. I'm bigger around than I was last year. Does that count for anything?
  17. which kid from carter are we talking about? stats? hight? weight? strength? speed? And if he is the next Chad Pennington, why didn't he play more last year? Too many questions are surrounding this mystery man.
  18. I happen to know that the goat was an exceptional high school quarterback. And I would imagine that when he was playing there wasn't even an internet to get on and live varicosely through.
  19. So you've had one winning season in the past 10yrs. Should've left well enough alone. Some things are best left unposted.
  20. will any of the other "bottem feeders" (as they've been called) be able to challenge central this year?
  21. no kidding. 4AFan doesn't even have a chance to defend himself.
  22. Hey goat, my grandma used to live varicosely in her legs. Is that the same thing as QBsWhosYourDaddy? Also, don't be too quick on that assumption redbeard99. Judging by that schedule posted at the start of this thread, carter has five or six games that could be wins.
  23. oddly enough I'll have to agree with qbdad. Haven't heard of Longworth from cental.
  24. If it's at all possible, I'd rather not shower while 4Afan is around. But seriously, did sevier co. or red bank scrimmage anyone this spring? and if so what were some results?
  25. Well, well, well, look who's back from the internet graveyard. Yes, dilweed has made a triumphant return. All recruiting jokes aside Will central really be able to give maryville a run for their money this year? And will anyone else in the region compete with those two?
