  1. I really don’t know where DB could even find a suitable coach should Christian be dismissed. I mean we literally searched the entirety of the United States and found Christian right under our nose. What’s next? An international coaching search? Interplanetary?
  2. What was that sound? A leak at Eastman, or the very last bit of gas escaping from the Joey Christian Experience?
  3. Some coaches are good at post-game speeches following a loss. Others are good at winning games. Which do we have?
  4. Never underestimate the value of a “nationwide” coaching search.
  5. IMO, DB QB has very slow release and is often late in getting the ball out. Not a lot of zip on the ball either.
  6. Here’s a hot take for you… DB’s QB isn’t great.
  7. Incorrect. They didn’t have them at linebacker or at corner or safety. Ask anyone. They even admitted as much. DB is slow. you like to reference D Watson, correct? His trademarks: Athletic corners that lived on an island and blitz pressure on the QB. I can’t speak for what happens at Greenville or Betsy. But, I can tell you how Maryville and Alcoa do it. I live in Knoxville, and I coached several of the kids that played at those schools. Heck, Betsy had a DB transfer playing QB one year.
  8. First and foremost, DB needs more and better athletes in the skill positions. The didn’t really have them last year, and they don’t have them this year. Secondly, they need to get more pressure from up front.
  9. Your post is factually incorrect relative to DB’s football team.
  10. So, I guess you are telling me that EVERY Alcoa and Maryville player is from inside the city limit of their respective cities? I dare you to answer, “YES”. Again, I don’t have a problem with it. But, call it what it is.
  11. Elizabethton recently won a state championship. Remind us where this QB transferred from? I’ll help help with the answer: he transferred from DB. Greenville had lots of talent. DB has some talent, but are we athletic? Do you see a Swafford, Gaines, Foreman, Graves, Hayes, Sensabaugh, etc. in the WR or DB rotation? Science Hill was certainly more athletic. Cleveland was, as well. We have a collection of possession WRs, and our DBs that are consistently getting beat. Again, JIMMYS AND JOES! Do you seriously think DB is athletic? I’m not saying that coaching isn’t important, but every team everywhere that wins a championship was/is talented. If it was about coaching, Coach K would win every year. Seriously, how many teams have better players than Nick Saban? His formula is to have better players.
  12. For you to believe that all those Maryville and Alcoa kids actually played in either of those little league programs is incredibly naive. I coached a few myself that ended up down there. I don’t blame the kids/parents. They went there for exposure and to chase championships. Both programs routinely draw kids from Knox, Sevier, Blount, etc. counties. In addition to the influx of talent from outside their respective school districts, but programs have excellent strength and conditioning programs. Football is not a complicated game. The honest Alcoa coaches will tell you that it’s Jimmys and Joes that win football games. If DB really wants to win they will need to become a regional football team.
  13. Transfer out? He is one of several kids on Alcoa's team that are from Knox County.
  14. At times we have had a nice secondaries through the years. More recently not. An effective pass rush will mask alot of problems in the secondary. Most everyone knows that. You may remember that Watson loved to pressure the QB. When you blitz, you leave your DBs on an island. That's part of the gamble. Again, it's really a function of having the right horses. Deion Sanders was a pretty good DB - even without great technique.
  15. Believe me it isn't a question of technique but more of athlete. DB wasn't close to losing this game. DB absolutely mashed Bearden upfront. Bearden knew what was coming, and they were only able to slow it down.
