  1. It's people like trojanfan56 that make CoachT unenjoyable sometimes. I'm sure he can't name a single player from Obion County or Dyer Co. It's people like him that get there jollies out of puttin down a team of 15-17 year old kids that absolutely makes me want to throw up!
  2. treefitty is exactly right. The last things the kids from OC need is somebody feelin sorry for them. What we as OC fans need to do is be out there every Friday night and support them through the good times and bad times. And yes week 4 may be ugly but the kids will be fired up and more motivated for this game than any other and if they go down they will go down fighting. It's a good thing Coach Bowling doesn't let his players take on the attitude of some of there fans.
  3. Appreciate that trojansfan 04. We have had a tough offseason. But it is what it is. You gotta go with what you got. Coach Driggers has had every reason to complain or cry foul but he has kept a great attitude. Hopefully that will rub off onto the players and make some good things happen for the Rebels this season.
  4. I agree with you 100% OCVol. It'll probably be a tough year in Rebel country this fall. But I would rather go to battle with the ones that have stuck it out because you know they are willing to give everything they got to make the program the best it can be. If all these underclassmen will stick with it and not quit, in a couple of years we may have a pretty good team in Troy. If any of the Rebel players read these boards just remember this...... keep your heads up, keep pushin forward, don't back down, and most importantly don't ever give up.
  5. When Coach Bowling came to OC he inherited a quarterback that had thrown for over 3000 yards and 37 touchdowns the season before and had been a Mr Football finalist. He also inherited an all state wide receiver who had 980 receiving yards and 13 TD receptions that same season. You know how much he threw the ball when he took over? About five or six times a game. So don't give me that he didn't have someone who couldn't catch or get open.
  6. It's no secret that Obion Central will be in a rebuilding mode this year. With the loss of a dozen seniors and a completely new coaching staff, they'll take some lumps this year. I'm quite certain that Coach Driggers knew the teams he'd be going up agaisnt in this region when he took the job. Besides Dyersburg last year and Crockett Co. the last two years, Obion Central has been in every other game they played in in this rugged region. They have to play above there heads most of the time, but they go out there and give there all for four quarters and that's why I'll be a Rebel fan for life. And as far as the comment about Logan staying at OC being silly. In Coach Bowling's system he might throw the ball five times a game. In Coach Driggers offense, which is an Urban Meyer type offense (in other words a spread offense), he'd have the chance to showcase his arm more. And one other thing is he's been a part of the Obion County school system since he was in kindergarten. Logan is a very popular young man who I'm sure has many friends. It's not just so easy to leave that. I think you've shown your true colors dsoe12. Pat him on the back if he comes to Dyersburg, but if he stays at OC he's gotta be stupid. And yes I know he'd probably win more games if he came to Dyersburg, but life ain't always just about winning football games. Whatever Logan does I wish him the best. And until we know something for 100% sure, lets let the whole thing die down for a little while.
  7. Coach Bowling always took OC to camps over the summer. They always held there own at Vanderbilt. He took them to one at Mississippi State a few years ago agaisnt some of the top teams in the country. Even though he doesn't pass much, it still helps going up agaisnt some of the top teams in the state.
  8. I think mg is right. Logan has to make the decision, not all of us on a message board.
  9. Alright dsoe12 reverse the situation. Would it not ruffle your feathers a little? We've had a hard enough time trying to establish some tradition in football at OC. Your top player leaves to a rival school and that sets you back a little farther. Since 1999 (the first winning season in 13 years),we've compiled a record of 43-42 and won our first playoff game in school history. While most will scoff at that, for OC it's a pretty good start. That's what I meant about the Facing The Giants comment. It had nothing to do with him keeping the same coach. You can never get a tradition started when the best players you have either quit or transfer. And you will see more than "some" mid-line and veer. Him not running the I had nothing to do with us having no speed, the single back, double wing is the formation he's always run from. We had three backs last year with over 500 yards rushing. While Caldwell will have the majority of carries, I don't think it'll be 75%.
  10. If Logan does go to Dyersburg, then so be it. As far as the little stickin out the tounge symbol, shows alot of maturity. This situation kinda reminds me of the movie Facing The Giants (for those who have seen it,if not I highly reccomend it). The scene where the coach talks about pouring three years into a kid just to have him transfer to a rival school (if that is what happens). Regardless, Obion Co. will put a football team on the field with or without Logan. Call me old school, but I still believe football is a team game and shouldn't be dictated by one individual. We'll put our best out there and see what happens. This year will most likely be a struggle with a new coaching staff and the loss of a dozen seniors from last years team. OC is definitely not a cakewalk anymore. They are definitely not the most talented team but they are talented enough that if you don't bring your best they'll get you.
  11. With Logan going all the way through spring practice with OC, I just don't see him going to Dyersburg. Then again it wouldn't surprise me either. And as far as Coach turning his head and smiling, maybe it was because he's heard that question a thousand times. And yes StevieRayVol we at OC know we are lacking in the speed and athletic department. You don't have to remind us on every post. We have a bunch of tough as nails kids who give there best each Friday night. Unfortunately in this region, it's usually not enough. But I will cheer them on no matter what.
  12. In Coach Bowling's system, the quarterback is basically another running back. And while Logan is a fine quarterback, he's not that fast. If this was a more balanced offense with more throwing then Logan would be your man. This offense will be alot better off with Taylor taking the snaps. Alot of this offense works off the fullback. Bowling will run dive after dive after dive till you want to pull your hair out. But it's always setting up something.
  13. Just to set the record straight we didn't "get rid" of Coach Bowling. He chose to leave Obion Central for Dyersburg. I know part of it was financial, but for the most part it was to work with the better athletes. I'm a Rebel fan to the core, but I'm not blind. We have never been blessed with the athletes like Dyersburg,Crockett Co., Covington, or Haywood. We have a bunch of gritty, hard nosed kids who give it there all. This program has come a long way in the last seven to eight years. We have gotten to the point where we can compete with every team we play. Teams cannot just show up and get a win without having a battle. You have to crawl before you walk. Things are going in the right direction, it just needs some stability.
  14. I also hope they get rid of the satellite region quarters. I woulda liked to have seen OC-JNS in a neutral location( and in the region finals instead of the first round, thanks a lot Fayette Ware). And a different refereeing crew. Those refs from Memphis let a lot of things go.
  15. I have heard they have four applicants. One from Atlanta, one from Alabama, one in house, and don't know where the other applicant is from. It's been a few weeks since I heard this, but it was from someone inside the Obion County school system.

I don't know what else you have to do to beat Westview. I thought the Lady Rebels played much better this time agaisnt Westview and seemingly had the game in control. For the second time this season the Lady Rebels were done in by a dreadful quarter. Agaisnt Milan it was the third quarter and Westview the fourth. Hopefully before the tournaments start the Lady Rebels will learn how to put someone away when they've got them on the ropes.
  17. I agree with you pride&tradition. I had this one pegged for a blowout as well. The atmosphere and enthusiasm reminded me of the old days of Rebel basketball. If they can give that kind of effort the rest of the season, they will win some games. Confidence breeds confidence.
  18. Well they picked up a big confidence booster with a buzzer beater to beat Milan.
  19. Any news on finding a new head coach and an assistant to replace Coach Lester? I have heard that four people have put in for the job of head coach but no names.
  20. It sounds like the Rebels are becoming like the Tennessee Titans. Finding ways to win when there back is up against the wall and have beat a couple of teams they weren't supposed to.
  21. There is definitely improvement at OC. Two or three years ago that would've been a thirty or forty point loss.
  22. Wow! Under a 100 yards of offense for Ripley. That was definitely the best defensive effort of the year for the Rebels. Not too bad for a team that was going to get dominated on both sides of the ball.
  23. Jump by Van Halen was what the Rebels of Obion Central used to come out to for 20+ years. I wished they would bring it back for the new gym.
