  1. Ah, thank you Irish. Much appreciated
  2. I was just wondering, are there any teams having tryouts this spring/summer in the Nashville area? I've been playing since I was five, but haven't played club ball in a few years. I'd love to this summer. I'd be in the U-17, U-18. maybe U-19 age group (I'm 17 now, but turn 18 in Aug.). I really want to play!!! Any info would be appreciated.
  3. Spanish-style, yes of course, lol. I have to say to Rebel and Yankee, Antioch is much improved since last year, but like I said I don't know much about Centennial. I would like to see the game, but I have to be at Brentwood at 6pm for our game. As for us, many of our players have already given up on tomorrow's game. It disgusts me that some of us have no faith in our ability. I don't expect to pull out some miracle win, unless our defense can pull it together and play like we did early this season. Still, I plan on playing a good game. BTW titansfan, our coach told us Bob Jones was out of Georgia; he's kind of getting crazy, lol, but he's retiring.
  4. How are you feeling about Centennial? I don't know much about them, but they beat Franklin 4-0 and that's pretty impressive. Your team works well together, even though it is that 'South American' style soccer, lol. We have Brentwood, but we plan on giving them a game. We beat Cordova and Bob Jones (out of Georgia), and I believe Jones was ranked. So we can play with decent teams--we just have our days. Good luck tomorrow, or whenever this week.
  5. wc15, what were the numbers of the MHS players acting unsportsmanlike, if you can remember? I was not at the game because our coach gave us bad directions. From what I've heard, many of our players did not show up.
  6. Red Devil, you're calling us from middle and east TN hicks? That's funny coming from a guy who lives about 20min from Missouri.
  7. If you'll notice, I have not called my coach an idiot; I have, however, pointed out that he lacks an understanding of the game. He's been coaching soccer at our school since the early- to mid-80s, and has learned only one formation and one way to play-- the longball. No decent team plays the longball, but he will insist that all the great English Premier League teams do it, and will not have his team play any other way, regardless of our suggestions. With that amount of time spent on the game, and the amount of talent that he's had come through, what's his excuse for not learning? How can a team be expected to work with a man that brushes off all input. It's incredibly frustrating to know exactly what you can do to improve your team, but cannot because your coach refuses to budge from his routine. As for him being the only option, I can think of two other coaches at our school that would take the job. I know this because I have spoken to them regarding the issue after expecting our coach to retire (he has been saying he will since my sophomore year). Now, I'm not saying that our loses are his fault, but when you've got the level of talent we've had in the past, and can never get out of your Region, the coach has to be looked at.
  8. OK, this arguing is ridiculous, so let me try to set it straight-- No, our starting goalie was not at the game, but when he is, he always puts the blame on himself for a loss, no matter who's to blame. He does not have an, "ego problem," although I can see how it might sometimes be perceived that way. Our team, while having carried many talented players in the past, has never made it out of Region. Certainly, this is not because we were incapable of ever beating Brentwood or Franklin, but rather because of poor decision-making on our coach's part. When he took the job, he had never played soccer, and knew nothing about the game. I can only assume he took the job for the money, because his ineffective tactics and ignorance of several rules do not indicate the love for the game that most of us share. So, yes, we played a bad game and Columbia won; I'll not make any excuses for that because I can recognize what we need to improve upon. To Columbia, you played a good game. I do not know where the posts are that I was told showed some of your players bragging, but I'm sure they were misinterpreted.
  9. Andrew Dillon McGavock #13 Senior
  10. McGavock, Brentwood, Clarksville, and I think Columbia all host Challenge Cup matches. There are probably others as well. Our match tomorrow against Kingston was cancelled (for whatever reason), and I think Tuesday's versus Columbia may also be. So the Redmond Challenge Cup always seems to be big; there are always teams from east and west TN, and out-of-state teams coming up here. Does anyone know who else is involved besides the teams I've mentioned? I heard for a while that Bearden even played some games in it, and was supposed to play us. That's obviously not true anymore, even though I'd love to play them (me and finhead are coming to see Bearden/Farragut (sp?) on the 17th!!!).
  11. Yeah, we're in the Challenge Cup. We host a bunch of the games. Starting Sunday, we have 8 games in 9 days with Wednesday being our only day off. We play Kingston, Glencliff, Columbia, Columbia Academy, Huntsville, Dobyns-Bennett, Cordova, and Maplewood. Who does Antioch play?
  12. We had a guy with two yellow cards because those were the worst refs I've ever played on the same field as in 14 years. He didn't deserve either card; the first was for saying, "B.S.," and the other was for making a loud noise in disgust at another horrible call. Those refs wouldn't even let our captains ask about a call, saying that is was, "none of your business what call is made," and then threatened to give them a card. What kind of officiating is that? And yes, we had two players who could not play in that game, both forwards, and five players who started with injuries: our sweeper, one fullback, both center halfbacks, and one forward who was only playing there because he couldn't move well enough to play his normal position of fullback. I only point all this out because you seem very proud of a game that you won in which our top players were either not playing or injured, and the ref's calls were obviously favoring you throughout the game. Your team has improved tremendously, and you move the ball well and with speed, but there is a reason your beating us is such a rareity; if we have our team together, we'll remind you of it in district.
  13. eahs, we definetly did not play great. That was without a doubt our worst-played game this year. But no worries, we'll see you again at district-- hopefully at full strength.
