  2. Yes it was a joke by someone who thought he was being funny. FATHER RYAN WRESTLING i ask that you change your name because i know who you are and you have nothing to do with Father Ryan's wrestling team. so now everytime you get on and make some smart alic or idiodic remark you make them look bad and its rediculous. If you had any brains or should i say class you would change your name and quit disrespecting the wrestling team.
  3. No Aaron Bateman wrestles 171. Stephan Garrett wrestles 189 and he beat walker at McCallie.
  4. just 2 corrections. Davis Dempsey is a sophomore And Aaron Bateman wrestles 171
  5. Im not sure. He is a great wrestler. I know he lost to Garrett from Father Ryan 8 to 6 in the first round of the McCallie Tournament.
  6. I say its Father Ryan by 10. Baylor is good but Father Ryan has gotten used to its offense and the team has come together.Though they've had some coaching issues they have fought through it and they are ready to play. Lookout Baylor here they come!!!
  7. ROllredroll we have beaten cbhs and if we beat baylor we have 2 confrence wins so your rule or concept makes no sence.
  8. Hey Guys I know that Father Ryan Cant Make the playoffs but if we beat baylor we WILL NOT be last in the division and we would be 6th and pending on other games we may even take 5th so you should take another look at the standings and how they would play out.

  12. Babybearmom, WC is staying with FCI. We always consider AAU tournaments when they are nearer to home. We'll be hosting an FCI tournament the last weekend in February and a USA Kids/Cadet Folk/Freestyle tournament on April 17th. Unfortunately we all have to continue to endure the travel. Until more clubs are able and willing to host local tournaments we've got to go wherever the mats are!
  13. Williamson County continues to grow and get stronger. The Brentwood, Freedom, Grassland, Heritage and Page Middle School programs all continue to prosper. Lots of kids attended lots of camps and clinics throughout the summer. Franklin Wrestling Club is now Williamson County Wrestling Club. We have a new home with Williamson County Parks and Recreation and expect to have nearly 200 kids participate during the FCI season. This will also be our second year to offer freestyle wrestling with USA Wrestling in the spring. Eight graders to be on the lookout for include: Wiley Davis, Freedom Middle Ben Heacock, Grassland Middle Ryan Konz, Grassland Middle Carter McPhee, Grassland Middle Chad Parker, Page Middle Austin Sharp, Freedom Middle Jack Whitehead, Brentwood Middle Ty Zarbo, Grassland Middle
  14. Each county offeres different sports through their middle schools and will have its own governing body for those sports. Currently there is no consistent statewide governing body for middle school like TSSAA is for high school sports. I know that Memphis and Clarksville have been successful in using USA Wrestling as a vehicle for starting clubs and competition in their middle schools without any burden to the existing athletics budget/programs. For more information you can email me at frwrestlingclub@aol.com
  15. Are there any of you mat rats out there who are interested in seeing what our up and coming wrestlers are doing? Should we have an area that encourages the middle schools to post their schedules and results? What are your thoughts?
  16. Out of season does not apply to wrestling at this time. The folkstyle season and high school state championships may be over, but there is still a whole lot of wrestling going on!

  24. I agree that young kids should not have to commit to a single sport, but if there is something happening on a regular basis and word gets out, those kids that enjoy wrestling will come. Getting the word about youth wrestling is a weak link in our chain. We continually hear "You mean there is wrestling available for younger kids?", "What is youth wrestling?". Franklin Wrestling Club went from 35 wrestlers in 2001 to over 100 in 2002 & 2003. Plus Heritage started their own club this year and added another 30. This is from spreading the word to the local football programs and in the middle schools. If we can sign up 100+ and average 70-80 per practice and and average of 50 competing at each weekend, how many other kids are out there waiting to hear about wrestling? If we make it available, they will come!
  25. For our kids to be competitive on a national level, they've got to start before middle school. We have got to come together and have year round programs for the elementary age kids. Three to four months FCI does not build your state champions and collegiate wrestlers. Fortunately there are some people out there working to turn things around. Coach Blair at Brentwood and Coach Deaton from Ravenwood have agreed to provide freestyle instruction for the elementary/middle school wrestlers. Beginning Monday, 4/7, in the BHS wrestling room, Coaches Blair and Deaton will teach freestyle techniques from 5:30-6:30. This session is open to all elementary & middle school wrestlers who obtain a USA Wrestlng card. The cost is $30. For more information contact: Stephanie Garrett Franklin Wrestling Club frwrestlingclub@aol.com Also, Franklin Wrestling Club has an email database of nearly 200 area youth wrestlers. If you email us details on your summer wrestling camps and programs we will send them out to all our members.
