  1. B. Shane- playing post most of his career hasnt helped him, but he has displayed an outside game this year. I see him at an OVC school. UTM, EKU, will be a good fit for him. D. Shoate- He has good height to be a DI guard, but lacks the perimeter skills it takes to play at that level. He can score in many ways, but I see him as a NAIA star. If he goes D1 he may get lost in the shuffle. JUCO may be his best route. D. Strayhorn- has tremedous heart, bu his size may keep him from a DI school. Most DI guards are now 6'3 or bigger. NAIA star!! J. Taylor- Can shoot it very good, but lack of speed will put him at a NAIA or JUCO school. Thomas- I havent seen play this year, but I hear he is a good shooter, ans there is always a sopt on a roster for a shooter. Greg Ramsey- Above avg shooter, a step slower than most guards, will slide into a JuCo. Football may be his best sport! A. North- is a talented shooter. NAIA level C. Blackburn- is a good spot shooter, would be a good fit for a Bethel College. N. Doaks- Division I, not sure if he is a high major like Webb. That only depends on his work eithic, and if he plays summer ball. Webb- Big Time DI, if he falls lower than a high major it will be Conf USA, excluding U of L, Cincy, Memphis.
  2. I think he will be more of a interchangable 4 man. 1. He can shoot the turnaround jumper 15 and if neccessary can shoot the three. 2. He is long, and has the wing span of a 7 footer, (ie. Tim Duncan, Kevin Garnet) that will allow him to still post up at times. He will be more suited for a high low type of system, that will alow him to make that high low pass and shoot the 15 foot jumper. I cant see him playing the small forward as a primary position. He may have a little trouble guarding a 6'3 or 6'5 wing. But in sets like flex or 4 out 1 in motion he could play end up at a three position.
  3. He does not have to put all that "Weight" on that you guys consistantly speak of, right now. The kid is 16 yrs old. He will get stronger with maturity alone. Any school with a weight program can add pounds to a kid. He can shoot the 15 ft with ease, and is an above average athlete (ie. running, jumping). He is a cant miss type of kid. Colleges recruit based on potential, and imediate impact. He has unlimited potential.
  4. I agree with Gomab on this one. How can anyone say that a 6'8 kid (could actually grow a little more) that is avg 21 ppg, and 10 rpg not be a legit D1 talent? He had a good summer on the AAU curcuit, and will have an even better one this summer. You guys dont realize what AAU can do for a kid that plays Class A ball. Yes he is thin, but that is what college weight programs are for. College coaches are drooling over his upside as we speak!!
  5. Very huge game by Harris. It looks like he played like a man inspired last night!!
  6. Dickson should win this one by 10 or more.
  7. Ive known Brewer since he was in the eighth grade, he is a strong kid, but lanky. Shay Shannon can shoot, and can take over a game, but he cant control a game. Shannon is not close to being a top player in the state. Im not even a Glenclif fan but, Jamont is like a grown man playing against 5th graders. This kid leads the state in scoring, has more than 15 rebounds every night, and 5 assists on a subpar team. They only have about 5 or 6 losses. I guess you guys havent seen this kid play or you are just being loyal fans, which is respected. But if you want to see a performance than is almost unreal, then go watch him play against Hunters Lane tonight. Then post tommorrow. Oh yeah he will be rated over Tyler Smith come summers end. Bank on it.
  8. First of all I never said Jamont is as good as Lebron James. I said that he is like a 6'4 Lebron James. And for Big Jack every post I see from you show more, and more ignorance. Its ok to state opinion, but to talk about a (YOUNG KIDS) intelligence, and calling him a head case is low class This kid is 16 yrs old. So what if he may not have the GRADES to go to a major college. He can play at a Jr. college and maybe qualify for Division I ball. For you to say that Henry Harris is more complete than Jamont is unreal. How many 20 rebound games has Harris gotten. Harris is a good player, but he cant single handedly carry a team on his back like Gordon. Jamont can shoot it from 30 feet, can post up any post player in the state, and had better court awareness than most point guards in the state. Lets not let off the court issues way into this. Bottom line he is cleary head and shoulders better than Smith, Wright, and Brewer. Smith has no peremiter skills, Wright will be the best before its all over, but he is still young. Brewer is probably closer than most, but lacks the physical strength. Jamont is a competitor, he will not accept defeat, and will do whatever it takes to win.
  9. There is not a more complete Basketball player in the state of Tn than Jamont Gordon. He leads the state in scoring avg over 30 ppg, over 12 reb, and at 6 assist per game, out of the guard spot. He is a 6'4 Lebron James. He plays every position, isnt surrounded by stars, but has a very good record. He is an incredible athelte. Rivals. com has him ranked at 25, but after the summer he will move to the top 10. If you are a true basketball fan, and you havent seen him play, make the trip. Its well worth your 5 bucks, and 20 dollars of gas. You will leave a fan like I did.
  10. Jamont Gordan by a landslide, and if he doesnt win it then it is a travesty. Im sure Dotson is a good player, but by no means is he or anyone else in the same class as this kid. He may be the best player to every play basketball in TN, including Mercer, and Hardaway!!! Trust me on that one!
  11. What is is injury status? Did he really tear his ACL?
  12. peaceoff do you have an e-mail address? I need to ask you something.
  13. Who can give me some info on McMinn Central?
  14. He is one of the biggest kids (Renard Robinson) in the state. Will play DI basketball, and with the right coachting staff he could play some afterwards. He is big strong and athletic. He just lacks the killer instinct, but will get that at the next level from his older teamates. He may could have even been a little higher on the list. But I can agree on 71.
  15. Even with Rivedale's success, they still have something to prove tonight. Look for Labrian Lions to have a huge night. Riverdale by 5
  16. How did Humboldt stop Chism? Very big win congrats to the Vikes...
  17. We are not saying he is a bad person, or work doesnt hard, but if you dont have it then you dont have it. Lake Co. is a better program since he has left. Didnt the girls team lose 6 players and win state the next year? So losing players is not an excuse. He did win the district once, but didnt that team have a losing record? Trenton last year had guys that started since they were freshmen, so they did have more leadership last year. I'll agree I havent seen much leadership out of the tide. But I will say, this is why Trentons expectations should be very high: 1. It is a tradition rich basketball school. 2. You have a legit D1 player and you have lost something like seven in a row. 3. There is still too much experimenting this late in the yr. 4. Instead of coaching he narrates the game from the sideline. (ie playing defense, yelling pass here pass it there, move here, look in the corner) If your coach cant keep his head, then wouldnt it be hard especially for younger kids to keep a cool head??? 5. Not a great player developer..ie..Nic Doaks has not improved, Ben Avery is very capable of playing college basketball somewhere, but is struggling. The team overall should be better. 6. No rapport with players. You can see it on the kids faces. Build trust with the kids, they will trust you back. 7. Never had a winning season at Lake Co. Only 1 winning season in 6 yrs at Trenton? The list could go on. Im not saying that he is a bad person, from what I hear he is a great teacher, but he is not the greatest coach. My vote is bring back Harry Ferguson(give him another shot), or John Glisson...
  18. Sorry, I reported the wrong score. Probably should have been 13...
  19. balla777, Im a huge west tn bball fan, but wasnt it you that predicted trenton losing 7 in a row!! Please explain how you have a Nic Doaks, Ben Avery, Greg Ramsey, and Trey Easley, and lose this many games in a row. From what I see Trenton plays a very slow pace game, is this problem. When I saw them play they have a pretty solid group of guys that are very athletic. Why wouldnt you place a faster paced game? Is it me but doesnt that put pressure on the defense, and make the other team tired?? Its seems as if there are no sub patterns, and alot of experimenting. Its too late in the game for that. I hate to see wasted talent. Is it just me?
  20. North Side by 13 Richard Delk- 18 Reginald Delk- 15 Ramon Williams- 13
  21. Back to life!!! I havent seen them play that much this year, but from what I can see there needs to be alot of changes!!!!! Losing 7 games in a row at a powerhouse basketball school is unheard of. I'll just say it, its time to find a new coach!!! No one can say its the players, when you have very talented kids and you lose seven in a row..With talent you can luck up and win games, but a bad coach can coach you out of a game just as fast. Trenton has a kid that should be a Mr. Basketball candidate but he wont be because of he his teams success. The coach there is hurting this kids future, plain and simple. Mccullar is gone, get over it, because you cant bring him back. I guess Trenton is content with losing, because the girls team is good. Ive never seen a program that leaves after the girls team plays. This is unreal.
  22. Mr. Basketball is still up for grabs. The finalist will come down to who takes their team the deepest in the Postseason, or reputation. Every name that has been thrown in has a chance. Brandon Shane, and Xavier Webb are legit candidates based on numbers, but their teams dont have outstanding records. Shane would be a few votes ahead of Webb because of Statewide reputation. Jamar Jenkins is a clearcut finalist because of his teams success. Strayhorn does take alot of shots, but is clearly a leader. Take him from his team and they are probably not even playing above .500 basketball. His team has had success this year and he has statewide recogintion. He is a very legit candidate. Jonathan Cook has a statewide reputation, and plays for the #5 team in the state. If I had to pick today based on who Ive seen play it would be... 1. Brandon Shane- Everyone in the state knows his name, and his team will be in the thick of things in Feb. 2. Jamar Jenkins- good stats, good team(#4), good player. No Brainer!! 3. Dane Strayhorn- team was in final 4 two yrs ago, puts up huge numbers, MVP of district. This is my opinion only, it could be many candidates. Remember that they usually come from the top ranked teams, unless they have a huge rep. I havent seen Gordonsville play but if this Austin kid is any good he can jump right in. Only if they keep their #1 ranking.
  23. Coach Qualls has an extensive basketball background. I know he will turn the program around. I had the chance to watch the team play over the summer, and they lacked alot of talent. The dismissal of Alred really hurt the program, but really shows the coaches integrity. Give him a couple of more yrs, because there is no way the can compete with a team like Giles.
  24. I also agree with JTbase, Ramon Williams is very underated and is shooting the three at 51%, per the Jackson Sun article in fridays paper. He does play alongside o the Delk twins and really doesnt seem to get alot of credit, even though he avg 18.1 points and 4 assists. Read the feature article. Jackson Sun
  25. I believe that parents can hurt a childs playing time. The child's gift will make room for him no matter what the situation is. If there is a problem and you think your child is good enough to play or get a scholarship, then transfer him/her. Its has been several incidents of politics, personal vendettas, and over envolved parents getting in the way of our young kids futures. We all know that if little Johnny's dad is on the school board, a very $influentual$ part of the town, or booster, then Johnny is going to play more that little David. Im not saying this is done everywhere, because its not. When it comes to job security then most will do what ever it takes to keep our jobs. If it means giving little Johnny a few minutes to keep his daddys mouth shut then so be it. Who does that affect you may ask?? It affects the kid who has more talent, that deserves those minutes. Is that fair to him? Is it even fair to the team? It's then when parents get emotional about their kids, and ask why. If coaches will take the time and communicate wtih their players, define roles and expectations with all the players,(even the last man on the bench) that will eliminate most of the problem.
