  1. Hey Blue dont bother dusting the corners off, you dont seem to be using them.
  2. Volunteer 4 unicoi 0, that pretty much puts it on the line for anyone who was wondering about our game. Wow.

    Catchers-

Speaking of blocking the ball. What tips do some of you veterans have for a rookie. I block decently but could be a lot better. Thanks
  5. Dont flatter yourself yankeehatr. I throw hard enough to sting and i dont even pitch-so dont be so sure of yourself. and by the way if we do hit you, i'll throw you out when you ATTEPMT to steal second. and i'll be very subtle when you pass on the way back to the dugout.
  6. I believe 3-4 can get you through regular season depending on their stamina and control. A good staff should be diverse however. A few pitchers that can bring the heat and a few that can't break glass just to shake up the competition.

    Catchers-

Blocking the ball is key. A good catcher can make a wild pitcher look like Nolan Ryan if he keeps it off the backstop.

    delmonico

I dont know how he is doin, i know he plays well but i do know that the East Tennessee Copperheads shut him down for the past 2 years. The year before last he was 0-4 and last year i believe it was about the same.
  9. Cloudland game today, VHS 20 Cloudland 1. Enough said!
  10. Once again to yankeehatr. Yankeehatr you are really stirring up a stink around here and the Falcons dont like it. I have some advice for you. Don't give out your number, you might "accidentally" get a lil chin music. But if you are feeling brave you can just give your number to me, I'll make sure it gets to the right person, to...lets say motivate you to think more highly of our team. On the more civilized side of this post, good luck today at cloudland, hope the rain holds off. Lets get up there and end it in 5 so we can get home before tomorrow.
  11. This post is not directed completely to the comments of yankeehatr; however, most of it is. Lets start off on the good side of this post. Good week for varsity 3-1 is acceptable. Also congrats to the jv team on a couple of good wins. Also to ulcpanther, im not sure when i will return, i go back to the orthrapedic doctor on thursday, i been praying he'll let me play. Now to YANKEEHATR--- Listen bud, you picked the wrong team to trash talk. In case you didn't know we are from Hawkins county and i assure you we have some redneck blood in our team, and we aint afraid to step up and shut people up. However, i feel there is no need for physical confrentation considering the things you said are untrue. I will agree with DP96 in saying that you have beat 6 teams that the Bad news Bears could beat. Also, how can you say we cant hit,do you not know how to read box scores? if im not mistaken we have had more than 10 hits in several games. same with runs scored i believe we average roughly 10 runs a game. Pitching wise, we are fine R smith is great, and you know it, infact im sure you cant hit his stuff, also dobbs, byington, duncan, gilreath, frazier, green, and prob someone im forgetting are tough---all of them. So as far as im concerned you are foolish for bashin us about that stuff. Also we never said we'd win the conference, but i feel confident we will do well in it. and dont cry when we upset a few of the big dogs like happy valley or north or oh my, even central. And one last thing, we will finish above .500, wait and see. So in the mean time if you dont want trouble id suggest you stay off our thread unless you can be sportsmanlike and not bash us.
  12. Well how about them bats, if we hit this well all year we are going to be tough, bottom line. Great game on the hill by Dobbs. Defense was nice and hitting speaks for itself. Also CHHS i appologize, wes did only have one dinger yesterday. I stand corrected. Keep up the good work guys, Lets beat Hampton's redneck bunch tomorrow the same way!
  13. Well not much of a challenge today at chuckey doak, we beat them like we should have last week. Final score 19-2. Wes and Dano both cranked 2 out one of Dano's was a Grand Slam. Anyhow hitting was great, i dunno the exact number but i would guess we had close to 15 hits, and did a great job of hitting with runners in scoring position. Also and most importantly we did a great job of driving the last nail in the coffin. When we got ahead by 10 we didnt let up and thats what it takes. Defense was sharp tonight with few errors. Cowboy Ty made a great catch in right field. Dano did a great job on the hill and B Flem despite being sick played great as usual, i gotta hand it to him that takes heart to play when ya feel as bad as he did. Hope ya feel better soon flem.
  14. Heck of a game tonight guys. Way to bounce back off last nights upset. Wes must have got up early enough to eat two bowls of Weaties cuz he ripped one and pulverized another. We hit the ball a ton tonight "if we hit well enough to score 15 runs a game we will be hard to beat" as coach mclain says. Duncan did a great job on the hill and defense was behind him all night. I think we are still having a little trouble under the lights but thats easily fixable. Anyway we cant dwell on this game because the real deal starts on monday when north comes to our house for the conference opener. Lets show up monday ready to kick some raider butt and make a statement to all the news writters that picked us to finish 5th or whatever. Anyhow the big question is obvious...how are things going to fly with Hinkle playing for north this year...im sure things will be interesting.
  15. Only one thing to say about last nights performance, it was absolutely HORRIBLE! Gonna have to step it up if we want to win anything this year
  16. Hey chhs im sure you are correct i'll have to see the book, i think mclain has it, i'll take a look at it asap. once again im sure you are right i am a rookie at the score book. Also i was wondering if you scored the play jc had where he hit it to the pitcher and he missed it, did you score it as a hit or an error?
  17. Uh oh CHHS check your scorebook again i only got robby as giving up 3 hits, but im probably mistaken, we all know your up on the score keeping.
  18. Opening day couldnt have went better, except the rain. Guys came out and played strong. Pitching was good with Robby Smith on the hill(7 k's) and a nice pickoff, bats where great with 9 hits i believe. scored nine runs, baserunning was supurb. Defense wasnt too shaby either, one or two fly balls dropped that are questionable as to whether they should have been caught or not. All in all we really couldnt have asked for a better day, also dont let me forget we laid down an awsome sqeeze executed perfection. Also on another note, my wrist is feeling great and i no longer have pain in it i believe its healing up fine and i'll be back on the filed with you guys asap.
  19. Last year bart berry from volunteer was catching and a player swung at a horrible pitch and with the one handed backswing he caught barts left arm just above the elbow, bart had a blood clot develop on the spot but was ok after a week or so. Robbie duncan broke his ankle in a couple of places after a collision at second if my memory is correct. Last week i broke my wrist just below the growth plate diving for a lazy fly ball in practice.
  20. "thats ball four....ball eight.... ball twelve...GRAND SLAM, well at least it was a strike" Bob Ueker-- Major League "Hays has a big lead...and is picked off first... personally i think we got hosed on that call" Bob Ueker
