  1. Keep doing what you do Gomab. There are very few who could name a 100 seniors, juniors, soph, and fresh, much less rank them. You have more supporters than you realize. Most enjoy what you do. I do not always agree with your rankings, but they are yours and I know they are far better than what I could do. Your rankings are like tv, radio, newspaper, etc., change the channel if you don't want to look, listen or read. I agree with yours a whole lot more than the so-called AP experts! 2. missed some I am sure Crittendon Dyer County, Shannon Milan, Black Westview, etc.
  3. Kyle Shannon Milan All district All region
  4. who are the starting five for summertown and what do they do best??
  5. Well if that is the case then why not let one of them get put out by someone they have not played. PS If I remember Sside defeated Bolivar recently worse than GC. Bolivar was/is a good team, but even they will tell you Milan had them beat in the region just as GC was beat in the Substate. Sometimes things are just not meant to be. GC may win it all, they have the talent. Talent is not everything in basketball. PS#2 I don't think GC will defeat Ridgeway, if it comes to that. [Edited by sls on 3-11-03 10:12P]
  6. Good job splains, I just did not know where the other schools were.
  7. Sometimes I wonder TWHoops. You would think it would be East of Nashville and West of Nashville, or some imaginary line besides same region, in the 1st round, even with that it still could be blind. It is ironic that last year I drew out how I thought the AA boys would be before it ever came out and I was right. I would have never got it correct this year though.
  8. I can't believe the TSSAA not only put Chester County girls vs Gibson County against each other in the 1st round, but they have done it again with Southside vs Haywood. These teams played each other during the season and are reasonably located close to each other. It is hard to believe these teams must travel 3-1/2 hours to play someone they have already played, not to say the experience for all involved will be something to remember win or lose. These teams could have played @ Oman arena in a sectional type game and saved a ton of money and the place would have been packed. TSSAA please plan better.
  9. Greenfield is not that tall, but very scrappy and fundamentally sound. Homecourt, I don't know the game is at Dresden, due to lack of seats.
  10. Syc has not seen the speed that SS will bring to the game. Off of a rebound they push the ball so fast. Their 3-2 zone is played by long arms and quickness. What are Syc player sizes? What defense does Syc play?
  11. I agree Kemp and Chism, the freshmen were class acts! I would say that all tournament team would give any one in the state a fit. I can not remeber all of them but SS had 4 Baker, etc, Milan 2 Shannon and Adkisson, Bol 3 Kemp, Wiley, etc., Lex 1 Buckley, Humb. Dodson and Shivers
  12. As I said in another post SS is peaking amd will be hard to beat. It was a great game. I like Bolivar as a team and the way Rudesill coaches, but if Bolivar had to get beat I am glad Selmer committed the last foul and also missed the last 3 as he has shown no class. All of the other athletes in the region were respectful in winning and losing. Hopefuly this humbling experience will benefit him in his life. Good luck to both teams.
  13. I would not count SS out yet. Might also want to think about Bolivar vs Giles.
  14. SS is playing well right now. Bol will have to step it up. Bol has played well but not to their talent level the last few games. I believe SS is peaking and it should be a good one.
  15. al102700 did we meet @ Mcd last week? coach said to Kyle "we got time " and another said "no timeouts" to him sounding like we got a timeout. In that situation say watch the clock nothing with the word TIME. Kyle heard "timeout". Milan I don't see Milan being any better than average next year. They have lost too many key next year seniors and with coach hanging on to too many seniors this year, no sophs got any time.
  16. He called out to Kyle from the sideline, Time Out and began to make the TO signal realized he had none. Kyle was dribbling up the sideline in front of the Milan bench, back toward the 1/2 court line, as he was waiting for Sheppard to call a play. When Sheppard said that, Kyle immediately picked the ball up covered it and gave the TO signal. I think Milan could have overcame the Flagrant foul or the TO tech., but not both. Bolivar as Milan did struggle from the line early, but Bolivar (Kemp) made a bunch in the 4th about 9 off of the Flagrant and T and they also got a stick back with all that. Milan had it won and and just did not seal the deal. [Edited by sls on 3-5-03 10:47A]
  17. Washedup some on over we'll eat a steak and I'll show you an undercut on the film. Milan will lose the best class they have had in many years, 8 seniors. 4 really meant something this year. Atkisson, Dodson and Hutkins will be the players next year aith some upcoming Jrs to fill big shoes. They will have no size but will be quick. After that Milan will struggle for several years as they have No, I mean not 1 freshman. As far as the refs they kept the game under control. No one got away with much either way. It seemed tofavor Milan the 1st 1/2 and Bolivar the 2nd, overall pretty consistent and that is all you can ask for. One critical call when Bolivar deflected the ball out of bounds didn't help at the end, the guy should have asked for a 2nd opinion.
  18. After viewing the film last night/this morning the flagrant foul call probably was correct. It was a little too obvious. It just at the time seemed a little bit of a harsh call for that time in the game. Very unusual for Hulling to make a mental mistake as he is a 4.0 student as well as a solid player. As far as the T.O., Sheppard did say timeout to Kyle and then almost gave the signal and then realized he did not have any, tried to shake it off, but it was too late Shannon had already picked up the dribble and gave the signal. It hurt Milan when Atkisson fould out, as it left Shannon as the lone guard. Cagle missed a pass for a layup. Bolivar got a call as they deflected a ball out of bounds and got possesion. In a close game there are so many things to think of. Bolivar will have to wake up if they are going much further, but that game may be their wakeup call.
  19. The Intentional foul cal was a foul but tackle I don't think so. He grabbed him as he went by with one hand. A regular foul should have been called as Milan was not in desperation at that point. I thought overall refs did well, but that call changed the out come of the game. As a ref you don't do a drastic thing like that for no reason. Thanks Meg!good Luck to BCHS. As far as cheap shots go look @ the opening points of the Chester County game an tell me who undercut Cagle.
  20. Great game by both teams. Milan led at least 1/2 the game with both teams being up by 7 @ times. Kyle Shannon played the game of his life. Bolivar could not stop him from scoring, penetrating and dishing. great performance. Game was decided by 2 critical plays. Milan was up 45-38 with 3 minutes left. Bolivar makes their run. All of the sudden it is tied. Seyerle for Milan makes a 3. Then Bolviar goes up 49-48. Bolivar has the ball with over a minute left and is holding it. Hulling commits a foul and the ref calls it intentional! Whole game changed. Kemp hits free throws and scores again on free throws. Shannon scores and Milan is down 3 after Bolivar misses free throws Milan has the ball and Coach Sheppard says timeout and starts to give the signal, realizes he has none. Shannon has the ball covers it and after seeing and hearing Shepard also calls time out. Milan has no timeouts left. Kemp again makes free throws and Bolivar wins. Tuff loss by Milan who beat Bolivar in several ways but not where it counted. 57-53. Kemp played well for Bolivar. Milan found no answer for him once Hulling got in foul trouble. 21. A man from Trento once said " In tournament time the ball gets bigger and the rim gets smaller" and when that happens anything goes. Trenton is the favorite, but you never know who will be in foul trouble, injuries, etc. Tournaments are how the word "upset" was invented. Good luck to both, these are my 2 favorite teams in single A.
  22. I agree Bolivar wil be a mountain for anyone. They have it all size, speed, depth, experience, skill and a great coach. IF Milan still had Rod Smith (lost at Christmas) they could probably stay reasonably close. You can't have a bad 3 min. against Bolivar and as soon as Sheppard puts in the whole 2nd string, it is over. It may be over with the 1st string in. Bolivar has more talent in every position, especially the bench. Milan must control the tempo, shoot well, rebound, create turnovers and play their best to even be close.
  23. White station over Bradley Ridgeway over Bolivar (Kessler will make sure they are in opposite brackets) Adamsville over Temple
  24. Miln comes from a lackluster 12 point 1/2 time deficit 33-21 to defeat CC 59- 57. J Jones had 22 and McCuchen (sp) had 20 for CC. Henry Atkisson led an inspired Milan team with 16 and Cagle had 12. Kyle Shannon hit 2 free throws with 13 sec. left to seal the win. Good win for Milan club that has had a tough year, in many respects. It will be Sside vs Humboldt and Milan vs (maybe the best team in the state) Bolivar tuesday. [Edited by sls on 3-1-03 11:58P]
