  1. I would put an all Memphis team with Mo Miller, Thad Young, Brandon Powell, Williams,Watkins, Thornton, Calhoun, and Ridley against any team middle and east Tennessee can come up with combined.
  2. I am from middle Tennessee and have seen Raleigh Egypt play several times this year along with Mitchell, Bolivar and Haywood County. I laughed when I read the AP poll. It is obvious the voters do not know what they are doing and have not been exposed to the quality and talented West Tennessee and Memphis teams. I guess it is pretty hard to come up with a top ten when you don't see some of these teams play. In the end the teams from Memphis and West Tennessee will bring back the gold balls just like history has proven year in and year out! Mitchell is not in the top ten in AA! Are you serious!
  3. Columbia Central Starters Greg Armstrong Bernard Childress Larry Marks Pete McBee Rico Alderson Giles County Starters Eric Howard John Jenkins Patrick Howard Tyler Smith Timmy Marks
  4. Did Giles County not know anything about Southside before the game? They looked clueless about how to attack a zone and who Chism and McGee were? Does Giles County practice boxing out or do they dunk after practice instead of practicing shooting free throws? Southside was relentless pushing the ball and utilizing an up tempo style of offense all night. Giles County did not get back on defense but they haven't all year so that does not surprise me. Giles County also gets out rebounded by like a dozen on the glass. That should of never happenned with the overall heighth and jumping ability of Giles County.
  5. I seen today in the Tennessean where Coffey is averaging 10.8 points per game. Thats pretty impressive considering all those games in the beginning of the season that counted as games being played when he didn't get much playing time. I think he is also averaging like five or six rebounds a game also despite lack of minutes in the beginning of the season. In reality he probably would average around 14 points and seven boards a game if he started. But he comes off the bench and that is sick! Oh by the way Shay Shannon is averaging 11.4 points per game. One could make an argument that Coffey is the second best leading scorer and rebounder on the team. He is too much of a plus not to have on the floor.
  6. If Giles County wins the region they will face a very good Jackson Southside or Bolivar team in the substate. If the game is tied with a minute to go who do you want on the floor? I want Smith, Morris, Coffey, Shannon, and Givens. That is the best possible line up Giles County can put out!
  7. Kash Givens is not a true point guard. But I would rather have Coffey in the game at the wing and Givens at the point than Holt at point and Coffey on the bench. Givens can handle the ball and you would be surprised what he could do if he was given the chance in that role. And as far as Coffey playing better off the bench thats garbage, because you can't compare his play as a starter because he's never started. The reason why it seems he plays so well off the bench is because he should be a starter.
  8. Tyler Smith coud very easily run the point efficient enough to win. In my opinion I would move Givens to the point and Coffey to the wing. Either lineup, Giles County is a better team.
  9. Keithr, I totally agree with your post. With the line up of Givens, Shannon, Morris, Smith, and Coffey they are the best team in AA. But by having Coffey come in mid way through the first and third quarters that gives about seven minutes of the game where Coffey is sitting on the bench. That is too long when playing a peaking Jackson Southside or good Bolivar or Raleigh Egypt team. I am not saying they can't win by Coffey sitting the bench for those seven minutes but they are not the same team when he is not in the game.
  10. I am referring to the best non starter in AA. As for his stats during the year I don't have his exact numbers but you and I know they are good and could be better if he played more minutes. He would start for Bolivar.......need more?
  11. The kid averaged 21 points a game in the district tournament and made the all tournament team. I don't know his rebound total but it was probably around 7 a game. Oh by the way, he only plays about three quarters of the game. At 6'4 on the wing he is a match up problem for most teams.
