  1. "Just a side note, im 6' and Harb is a good 2 inches taller than me." Coach Logan, you might be 5'10" and that's if you're standing on a stack of phone books.
  2. Ryan Cooper of CAK is the real deal. Even though CAK WAS only single A the past three years, CAK always plays 3/4 of their games against AA and AAA opponents. So Ryan plays against solid competition. Ryan has hit over .470 each season, with 5, 9, and 8 HR's respectively. He has become an incredible SS as well. But it's his work ethic and love of the game that will take him far, plus, he's a great kid.

  5. Apparently, one of the assistant coaches passed away. I don't know how or any details, but I know Cosby folks would appreciate your prayers.
  6. does anyone know anything about this situation?

    Alcoa and Loudon

Sounds like a great game, obviously the 20 errors for Loudon was a misprint in the paper, must have been 2 errors. How did the pitchers do, looks like both went 10? How did the 1 run finally score.

    where's the tournament, Harriman?
  11. The Knights of Columbus are hosting CAK and Knoxville Catholic in a baseball game at beautiful Smokey's Stadium in Sevierville Saturday night at 7pm. The evening will begin with a faculty softball game at 5pm, followed by some entertainment and then the baseball game at 7pm. Both schools are bringing a lot of people and their cheerleaders. Should be a fun night of baseball. Tickets are available at the door for $3 for anyone who wants to come.
  12. CAK beat him 8-2 in the first game of the DH, which was 2 five inning games. I don't remember his strikeouts, but I would guess 4 or 5. That was early in the season though, and I'm sure he's more effective now.

    CAK

Thanks for the complements there Kirkland. You all have a solid team yourself and I really like Coach Hollenhead, he's a great guy. Both teams made the plays in the field (you made a few really nice catches at the fence), and it just came down to some big hits and big plays in clutch situations. Yes, T.P. did have a few steals each game. We're still working in a few different catchers (we used 2 last night), and T.P. seemed to choose off-speed pitches to steal on most of the time, which is to their credit. I thought Perrine may not have had his best stuff. I believe he only struck out two and seemed to get pretty rattled after we got some consecutive hits in the 4th. He's a really good pitcher though, just not as effective as when he beat us last season 1-0. CAK is 4-0 after week #1, but we head down to FL tommorrow for some tough games against some VERY good competition. We'll be playing several teams that were in the Florida AA and AAA state playoffs last year. I hope our guys will play up to the competition. Good luck to Tellico Plains this season.

    Greenback

I agree with Hack, Coach Smelcer has done a lot for the Greenback baseball program in one year, and even though we'll be fighting with him for a district championship, I'm glad he's back. Greenback should be solid again this year. Pretty solid in the field, sound pitching, and some good hitters. Good luck.
  15. The regional polls are from 2003, only the top 10 2004 preseason poll has to do with this season. And besides, preseason polls don't do anything but make a highly ranked team see someone's best pitcher.
