Polk Co. faithful let the boys from Notre Dame talk their trash. They do this every year. I remember a time that Polk was coming off of a 2-8 year and the Irish first game. They had a boy named Bowman that went on to play D-1 ball. Well the Polk Pride was brought back that night on the south goalline of old Brewer field. We held them for 4 plays and they laid down the rest of the game. We beat that same team like a drum the next year. This Irish team is good and they should be congratulated for their season so far, but you Wildcat fans remember that this roll of good seasons started with Notre Dame in 2001 and it continues with Notre Dame in 2005. Polk will play their hearts out Friday, and they may not be fast but I hope you Irish players like getting hit because you are going to get hit hard and often. The Cats will achieve their #1 goal this year and finally bring the region crown back to Benton. Polk wins 28-14

I didn't know taking advantage of another teams mistakes was wrong in the game of football. I guess Coach Davis at Polk has been coaching his team to do something that isn't right in the eyes of the know it all Cougars and their fans. As someone who played on that team that Basin beat in Benton two years ago, I'll admit that was a well played game and the Cougars out played us, out hit us, and out smarted us. But what about last years game at your place, ya know the one where the freak snow storm hit right after the game. thumb My prediction is simple, Polk 42 Basin 7.

I thought I would start this topic to get your thoughts on some JV teams this year.

Week 5 has come in Polk County and it is time once again for the cross caunty battle between the Polk Wildcats and the Copper Basin Cougars. Polk is coming off of a last minute defeat at the hands of a good Marion County team, while Basin beat Lookout Valley. Both of these teams hate each other and both would love to bring home the win. Each team is playing for pride for their respective sides of the county. Keeping in mind that basin holds an 8-1 edge over Polk since the series was renewed in 1996, I'm predicting that coming off of a loss and losing to the Cougars last year will light a fire under the Wildcats and they will come out of the Basin with a win friday night. Predicted Score: Polk-35 Basin-21. I'd like to hear comments or predictions from everyone.

Meigs County, give it up. You just can't handle the wildcats. And if you think that y'all losing is embarassing for us then we'll take that kind of embarassment any day of the week. Polk County Alumni #11

oh and McMinn Central and Polk County is a big rivalry too.

I think that Central will be 2-2 by the time they play McMinn County. They will lose in a close one to a young Polk County team, lose to Meigs County, beat Sequoyah and barely beat Tellico.

The best rivalries are: Polk County-Copper Basin This is one of the best because these two teams hate each other. Heck the two sides of the county hate each other. Always is a good game even when one of the teams is having a bad year. McMinn County-McMinn Central Another cross county matchup that is real intense. County always has the upper hand but Central always plays hard. Coach Williams from Central is a real good guy too, and the only good coach in his family. Ask anyone from Polk County and they'll tell ya that the other Coach Williams couldn't have coache little league let alone high school. Bradley-Cleveland This is about as good as it gets. Intense, huge crowd support from both sides, and good old fashioned hatred.
