  7. In the East 14/u A division it was the TN Thunder over the Pilot Comets in overtime TN Thunder finishes 2nd
  8. This gets passed, and what comes next? Legislation to dictate that every player play the same amount of minutes, rules against double-teaming, no back court pressing???...if someone beats me 123-21 it is my fault, and I don't need a rule to protect me or my teams. I need to either work harder, schedule better, or get out of the business. There are people with no class in all walks of life. You can't teach class in a clinic or legislate it. It, again, is just another rule like the dead period to cover for those who don't want to work hard or improve their kids. Play the game or revert to old Junior Pro of the 70's Just a thought.
  9. Be sure to check out all of the action this weekend as the East girls' sub-state comes to a conclusion with 26 games. Friday (May 2nd) sees 4 games at each of the sites (Roane State and Kingston High) beginning at 4:30 in 14/u B, 15/u A, 16/u A, and 16/u B Saturday has action beginning at 9:00 AM with 7 games at each site. 4 Roane State games are state tournament qualifiers: 14/u A losers' bracket final (12:00), 16/u B championship (3:00), 16/u A championship (4:30), and 14/u B championship finals (6:00). There are four qualifying games Sunday all losers' bracket finals (all at Roane State) starting at 12:00 with the 15/u A division. Other qualifier games are 16/u B (1:30), 14/u B (3:00), and 16/u A (4:30). There are no games sunday at Kingston High. [Edited by parrothead14 on 4-30-03 8:00A]
  10. teams in every sub-state seed the top four teams from the previous year based on their finish (ie: the top four in 13/u in 2002 were seeded 1-4 in 14/u in 2003 if they all returned) the rest being placed in the brackets by blind draw with the only exception being clubs with more than one team are placed in opposite end of the bracket. clubs entering more than one team should know that there is a possibility of the two meeting somewhere (even in the championship of the winners' bracket..guess that would be poor planning too) when you are in the losers' bracket you just have to go where you go and play who you have to... there is no control over that...these brackets are consistent throughout the state and come from AAU nationals
  11. Despite strong challenges of the Tennessee Thunder and Pilot Comets the Tennessee Stars 14/u repeated as East sub-state champions. In Sunday's finals against the pilot comets, Katie Jennings' (Meigs County) 12 points led a very balanced attack as the Stars won, 61-51. Jazmine Wright (Knox Carter) added 11, while Kinsey Galyon (South-Doyle) scored 9 and Alyssa Bryant (Anderson County) chipped in 8. Pilot hung close hitting 26 0f 36 free throws in a game that saw 50 fouls called and had 79 free throws attempted. The Stars built a 16 point lead in the second half and held off the Comets' rally over the last 7 minutes of the game. In Saturday's game against the TN Thunder, it was Molly McFadden (White County) leading the way with 15 points as the Stars downed the defending state champions from the B-division, 61-48. She got plenty of help from Bryant (11) and Wright (10) in the win. For the runner-up spot in the East, it will be the winner of the Pilot Comets-TN Thunder game set for next Saturday (5/3) at Roane State beginning at 12:00 noon. 12. This was the 2000 13/u state champions, Tennessee Raiders, when they were at the nationals in Orlando where they finished tied for 13th in the nation...Laura Hall, Katrina Beechboard, Melissa Uner, Fallon Lee were just a few of that team's members who have gone on to already make a name for themselves in high school... Fallon Lee hit a last second shot in the state championship game to defeat Shelbyville...the finals were at Mt. Juliet
  13. Tennessee Stars 14/U tryouts will be held today (March 9th) beginning at 2:00 eastern at Roane State College in Harriman (exit #347 off I-40)...our team has both east and middle Tennessee girls and are working toward their 4th consecutive national tournament. Check our website www.eteamz.com/Tnstars for more info
