  1. Well i should be done predicting as i've picked my lady trojans two years running to beat out OC and i don't think OC has lost a district game the last two years tournament or season. What a run, they beat us worse in tournament than season as they peak at the right time which i think they will do again. We did lose some very nice seniors and then tragically our PG to ACL but still have really nice young talent even if inexperienced. Covington has "added" a few non-freshmen talents which always helps and that will have them as the most talented to start the season, Westview looked mid-season smooth in the games I saw so far. SEASON 1) Covington - My Preciousssss x2, remember Real when he was a Trojan he does good job 2) Westview - the Layhues/Vincent experience should have them winning the games they should 3) Obion - expected to lose Wright, but Jennings and Hicks weren't on floor when I saw them 4) Dyersburg - we lost some but have a whole lot more ammo than people think 5) Gibson - used to winning, bad taste from last year, will lean on Whittmore 6) So Gibson - frankly just goin by others posts here, have no idea 7) Haywood - they usually have speed 8) Crockett - talented young guards 9) Milan - good PG and other scorer 10) Ripley - had them 6th until losing Popeye TOURNAMENT 1) Obion - I'm done betting against Laru and crew in February 2) Dyersburg - Coffman gets home region after close wins in the 4/5 quarter and 1/4 semi 3) Westview - Obion and Dyersburg will turn the seeds upside down 4) Covington - last year this was the "stay out of Obion's region bracket" game and neither team looked like they wanted to win as there was ZERO incentive TO win - I'm fairly confident that the last 4 consolations have been played to avoid the two juggernaut two year runs GC/GC/OC/OC - TSSAA needs to fix this as bad as the Z-Plan - perhaps send the loser home and grant the district champion a bye to region semis? they will face (in no particular order) : Bolivar, Lexington, Southside, McNairy
  2. "Union City has aa girl coming back" ... TRANSLATION: UC recruited another girl from a AA school (two of their starters) "that was not allowed to play last year" ... TRANSLATION: TSSAA declared her ineligible due to UC lying about the specifics of the transfer and UC forfeited 5 games in which she played before being caught "due to address problems" ... TRANSLATION: the student did not move yet UC turned in a false new address to TSSAA just needed to clear up the "spin", i guess we can all tell it's an election year with the spin in that quoted post now saying all that I'm glad they did recruit those two girls from Obion because OCC is gonna be tuff enough without those two for my Lady Trojans, but we host the tourney again so anything is possible as for the topic of the post, I see Jackson County winning it
  3. another vote for Brandi Goodman 16 reb per game is just sick ... I've been watching her against my Lady Trojans for 3 years and will be glad when she graduates my other two votes would be Massengill and Calamaity
  4. well, i will eat a little crow because OCHS has done beat Dyersburg at Dyersburg and Gibson at Gibson but at least I was right about Covington, they must have good defense to hold GC to 38 points how come that game was so low scoring? still sticking with my Lady Trojans as #1 seed, we just wanted to make it challenging I guess OCHS came in ready right off the bat, Laru always has his teams ready whatever school he coaches at and his girls got up right off the bat by 8 after one quarter it was a horribly reffed ballgame - too rough for high school girls not complaining that was cause of our loss or that it was one-sided cause it went both ways as they let us clobber their big girl all night and they were reaching in on us all night not many fouls either way - the free throws were more for OC but that is because we had to foul them about 7 or 8 straight possessions at end of game to catch up (but it worked cause we started hitting threes from everywhere in last 3 minutes while they could only hit 1 or 2 FT's each possession so we turned it from down 12 to down 4 at end)
  5. no the lefty post is back as is the other post and that lightning fast guard Real still at Covington so I'm guessing he still the girls coach too seeds prediction 1) Dyersburg 2) OCHS 3) Covington 4) Westview 5) GCHS 6) Haywood 7) Medina 8) Ripley 9) Milan 10 Crockett
  6. LOL at GCPioneer saying Covington will be "battling it out at the bottom" (didn't they beat GC twice last year and only graduated a couple guards?) - I can't wait to point that out to my co-worker from Covington! they will finish third AHEAD of Westview and GC I'm picking my Lady Trojans to upset OC for the #1 seed, we looked like we were in January form at UTM during the playday, and I just think OC has more to replace from last year than Dyersburg not even counting getting our point guard back who missed with an ACL last year hey GC, that'll be a extremely nice do-or-die district tourney opening game though the 'View vs GC loser leave town match!!!
  7. I know this is sour grapes but when I saw the seedings, I thought the champ was goin to come from our game with Central in the semis. Nothing against GC or WV but I thought in our gym we were the only one who would play them close and have a chance. I think we can compete with em again and the next one won't be do or die. Maybe with luck we can play em two more times! Congrats to OC 19-0 in this district ain't no joke. OC girls look like a team this year and play together so well. It is amazing what they have done after losing a Miss Basketball. I followed Laru when he was in the county here coaching Dyer Co to some awesome years (they need to hire him back at DC cause the coach there now is just picking up an extra paycheck while still concentrating on the boys 99% of his time). He always seems to have a good defensive plan for tournaments and his kids always play hard. Congrats to GC for whipping us twice in regular season and sticking us in the #4 seed and so now we have to travel Friday but we just need one road win to get back home. Probably a rematch with GC gals again and hopefully third time is charm cause they got our number so far. Dyersburg has hit some bumps in the road the past month after getting ranked as high as 5th, but all it takes is one good week of basketball for all that to be forgotten. Coach Coffman has his girls right were he wants em. GO LADY TROJANS!
  8. well i am a lady trojan fan so i guess i am someone who you are asking to post ... i thought we would win our game against poplar bluff so i was expecting to play the winner but you know what assuming does for you. anyways, i thought lake county looked like a champ the whole game. everybody on their team can shoot threes, everybody on their team can hit FT's. i think they MISSED ONE FT THE ENTIRE GAME and they shot a bunch. they also hit AT LEAST TEN 3's and it was probably more than that. and from an outsider point of view they have many more threats than just T.T. T.T. got her third foul LATE in the first quarter not 3 minutes into game, but the LC coach wanted to see if she could play with two i guess because they were playing well. well, guess what, she sat the whole second quarter and they scored more points in the second quarter than they did the first. as for the fouls on T.T. in the first they were all true fouls so no complaints but i think she just ducked her shoulder on the fourth foul and official assumed she initiated contact but that shoulda been a clear no call you are 100% correct. but the LC coach still played her nearly entire second half and she was smart and didnt foul. her fifth was stopping a layup with under a minute left and LC up by more than a score so probably a good foul at the time if they didnt go OT. so in summary, T.T. deserved all 3 first quarter fouls and was in the game after her first two and fourth one for a long time, and she deserved the last one, so only one missed call on her 5 fouls as for the rest of the LC girls they can flat out ball, carnation is awesome all around and #14 (simone?) and #3 are gonna be holy terrors for 14A to deal with. and the other 3 or 4 that play don't miss open shots or FT's either. LC looked like a dominant A team and didn't drop off as much as you'd think (if any) for the 10-12 minutes TT wasn't out there ... as for OC, the two starting guards for OC both had 4 fouls in the 4th and coach laru was subbing them in and out to save them but the Macey girl still fouled out in the 4th and didnt play OT either. i dont really get the grief at the refs cause after brett johnson got the tech the fouls were WAY lopsided in LC favor so he probably okay with the effect the tech had on the refereeing. you even mentioned LC having so many fouls to give with under a minute and LC shot double bonus FT's for a LONG time. fouls were like 13-3 in LC favor with a minute left. i see you didnt mention that but i know how it goes after a tuff loss you cant see the bad stuff the other team had to deal with only the couple things that didnt go your way so no problem there. OC also couldn't buy a layup or FT this game and you can't really credit LC for stopping those OC just couldnt buy a shot in the first 3 quarters. i honestly don't know how OC won other than they just dont EVER quit and they make you play faster than you are comfortable playing. i wouldnt say they play as pretty a game as LC but they are fun to watch, it's more like track with a ball than basketball but it clearly seems like they have bought in and having fun and playing hard. they do just the right mix of getting the two posts involved and getting open outside shots. they need to quit fouling so much and hit more FT's and they will clearly be the best team in west TN in my opinion because they never let up and never let the other team feel comfortable. i didnt get to KY last week but supposedly it was just like this one with us leading by 15 after 1 quarter only to be losing by 6 late in game so that shows they aint beat til that last buzzer goes off and theyre losing. so in my opinion, LC may be the best team in West TN by what you see on the floor and how they are great shooters (havent seen scott's hill) from what i saw, but OC just beat them after not shooting well at all for three quarters so who knows how that makes sense. that's why girls basketball is so crazy and i cant wait to see the KK and TT show in about an hour ... heading there now!
  9. why does every frikkin thread that has nothing to do with the subject somehow end up with... "Dyer County" "McCord" "don't use the 'R' word" "they just want to come here, we can't help it" get a frikkin life, nobody cares, go post in the other 172 threads you have started patting yourself on the back and stay out of threads that have NOTHING to do with you you guys need some serious help, like counseling or something as for this topic, i hear Sisco may or may not have talked with Dyersburg is this true?
  10. It is done, my source has confirmed. I don't have to eat crow as my previous post was spot on. He asked me not to name names so literally below I will not, maybe the hints will give it away. The one I REALLY didn't want them to hire they didn't so I guess I am happy because he woulda probably been a lifer due to the fact of having the program like he had wanted it in the past and just bluntly put is a more experienced and proven girls coach But... can't say I'm overjoyed because the one they did hire is good too and it'll cost our program more money because now we have to erect a brick wall around the perimeter of Dyersburg city limits.
  11. late to the party here but here is what I have heard (DC fans probably not interested in my point-of-view but let's just say I know someone who is "in" on what's going on - in other words someone who has the ear of one of the decision-makers). Really don??™t care if you believe me or not I hope y??™all make a dumb hire, but my source is extremely legit. Also it is a bunch of he said/she said but again I don??™t care if you believe me or not, I??™ll eat crow on here if it doesn??™t happen like I say. Oh, and why am I interested? I have some relatives who play (and played) in the Lady Trojan program and I kinda like how the Lady Choctaws get neglected by the admin and fans so we are the best local program. Ask yourself this, if this was the boys job, this thread would be a mile long but this one is 2 pages in 2 weeks. Fans/Admin just not as interested here. You can get mad at me for saying that but it is what it is from a rival's view. First let me "fix" the errors from the above posters in the above posts (no offense guys but you are posting rumors that I know to be false so just clearing em up): 1) The rumor that Angie was "forced" to resign is not true. Nobody asked her anything (maybe they were going to who knows but no one had approached her and gave her an ultimatum). She had had enough. Rumors of immense pressure she was receiving were true. Rumors of a petition going around are true. Sad that a superintendent asks for a petition to be brought before him and not handle it himself but does that surprise anyone? 2) The job is McCord's if he wants it obviously. He has been offered. Rumors that he wants it but Hedge is thinking about it are not true. Now it was insinuated in a post above that he was contacted BEFORE Stafford resigned and I can not verify that one way or the other (my source didn't give that info LOL) 3) The post about DC girls not ever being any good is just a complete fabrication (sorry dude no offense you just may be too young to remember): -> Henry Farrar had good teams in the 80??™s converting the girls from 6on6 to 5on5 -> Karen Griffin had some really good teams. DC girls sustained above average play for a long time under Griffin . Had a kid sign with Memphis (name?) They won a bunch of games and always placed well in district for several years in a row. -> Butch Hopkins had good teams also, they always seemed to get beat too early in tournament time but they usually won 15-19 games. Built through fundamentals. He never scheduled us so didn't see his girls coaching "in action" to comment -> Randy Coffman had a good season and went to Region Semis before he came to the Promised Land. Needless to say I was happy again that DC Admin didn't keep him. He gave DC Admin some ideas on how to change for the better and was rebuffed. That showed him that DC girls could not be a factor long-term without the backing of the Admin. He probably would still be there to this day if he??™d have gotten the right answers. Thankfully for the Lady Trojans he did not. - > Lyle Larue built on Hopkins and Coffman and went to next level. Hopkins and Coffman did a great job building a foundation, but if you don??™t think there was a very obvious uptick, then you just don??™t know basketball. I was glad when Laru left too as DC whipped us every time in those 3 years, we haven??™t been beat but once or twice since. Sources say he left for same reasons Coffman did and as an assistant under Coffman he had a ringside seat for the Admin's antics so I??™m guessing that??™s right. - > Angie Stafford had some good teams also. District 13AA is just that tough. in other words, you've had good teams and good coaches throughout your history 4) One of the above poster's said the undefeated team lost in Memphis but I though Lexington beat em (can??™t remember ??“ getting old ??“ did they play at Lexington or DC)? Breakdown of candidates and quenching rumors (note: these are the only names I have heard): McCord: It is McCord's and McCord's decision alone. The TSSAA bulletin board job opening post was the clear giveaway here. The immediate firings of the middle school coaches was the other giveaway. And the last giveaway is that as far as my sources know, no other candidate has been contacted officially. The holdup may be whether he is deciding to do it or not or maybe they just want to wait. It is the easiest transition because new teaching positions aren't involved and it is a hire that the community would be behind. McCord would bring an exciting style and the fans may show up in the gym at 6:30 again instead of 8:00. I hope McCord decides to just remain with the boys because I don't want to lose anymore Dyersburg kids like we did the past few years. Larue: I hope you guys don??™t get him. DC girls have never brought any hardware home under any other coach period. He regularly beat Russell, McMillan, Coffman, Decker, etc. I laugh above at DCfan74??™s posts. Coached middle school and high school at the two other 13AA schools he was at and both went to state tourneys. See the pattern? Crockett was bad, became good real quick, now bad again. If the admin gave to DC alums what they give to outsiders (Hopkins/McCord) he??™d still be there. My source said he really didn??™t want to leave but he could not stay and compete in 13AA without a hand in the middle schools. My sources say he will only be contacted if McCord declines the job, and admin has changed their ways, but I seriously doubt he leaves Westview. Coffman Source said he said ???Don??™t even call, you??™d be wasting your quarter.??? Pope My sources say she declined to put her name in the running. Smart move and if either of the above two get the job it will be a great career decision as her resume gets an immediate boost and when they start winning again, gets stronger. Poindexter In the running for the South Gibson job. If he gets that I doubt he would leave immediately to comeback here because he can build a program from ground up and he lives in Jackson. Could be wrong on this one he may come back ???Package Deal??? no comment on this as my source said: .. There may be a ???Package Deal???. I have no idea what that means and they gave no clue even when prodded for more info
  12. Paschall's teams always did well and played very hard in our Trojan Christmas tourney, usually placing well despite being a A-team going against AA and AAA teams all of the above are just jealous haters if I hear right, he is moving to principal and that is the reason for the change
  13. the REAL question is how does the recruiting class look for next year after the early signing period is over? i mean who cares about this game, i want to know the status of the 5star 8th grader and transfer-eligible players in the west TN area that we have gotten commits from anyone know? i mean if we can add a couple more solid recruits to the bunch we recruited last year watch out Murfeesboro!!
  14. does she lose amateur status if she accepts a gift based on a skill that she plays as an amateur?
  15. you see i have to agree with the 7AA posters in here they have realized that 13AA is the power now in AA girls basketball by their statements "nobody thought we could hang with Milan but we did" i like the sound of that ... they are saying "we hung with them" when they get beat by 20 we have been saying that 13AA is better and they finally are realizing it and it ain't gonna get any better, because 13AA has the best sophomore class in the state ... 12+ college players in that grade alone (oh by the way Milan was 3rd in 13AA regular season district ... you need to thank them for knocking out the 13AA #1 seed Obion who beat Marshall County earlier this year by about 20 points ... so now you can have a decent final instead of a blowout)
