  1. Wingman: tell him how you know c'mon. (He really is a ref) Okay I abstained from anything prior to this game CC vs Columbia but I just gotta give the Lady Lions a BIG ATAGIRL on the game...early foul trouble slow start and all (I won't even mention the striped little men running around in their black Sansabelt slacks that couldn't even make a call long distance) okay that's enough. The girls never let things get out of hand and the 4th quarter was yours all the way. Rachael Perry stepped up. On another front, you CC guys help me out... this big time coach 2nd year.... why do you stall behind by2 and 4 points in the 4th quarter. Got to give the coaching some of the credit for your loss cause the girls from CC played well. Not trying to start anything I'm serious.. it didn't make sense any thoughts? Let me ask the question in a less offensive way.. Your team had the lead for 3 quarters playing "his system".....Why did he get away from what got him the lead for 3 quarters? One last thing.. Coach Moore gets kudos for handling the bench and no panic at all and the press at the right time. Good job ladies and Coffee Co is definitely a factor this year also credit there too.
  2. And the advantage in coaching would be??? I think Coach Moore has had a State Tournament appearance and undefeated district championship in the last 2 years what's your guy done?

  5. Wow Lady you are confident. A very good start and 1 quality win over Lincoln. But! One quality win doesn't put one at the top of the heep when the heep is Columbia and Shelbyville. I'll give you credit where credit is due. I think Lincoln Co is the big surprise so far this year. I like flatcreek had them picked higher. Unless they circle the wagons and regroup, they are toast. They didn't play well at all in Columbia at the tournament. As far as quality wins... Columibia has already avenged 2 of its 3 losses from last year defeating a powerful South Gwinette Georgia (ask Lincoln County who lost to them the next day big) and Murfreesboro Oakland by 30. They also defeated Wilson Central by 6 in a scrimmage at Wilson Central. They beat Division II state runner up Brentwood Acadamy as did Shelbyville so by the end of the week we'll know something. One comparison will be tonight with Shelbyville playing Wilson Central. Since the CC Columbia game is in Manchester early that gives you an edge but I'll go Columbia by 10.
  6. Early on... the Lincoln Co team has to be the biggest surprise with Coffe and Franklin Cos. running close second. The LC is to me the biggest mystery and for now they have to be disappointed. CC is riding high and them sustaining that wave til Feb is the question. FC is on a steady climb and wouldn't want to play them tournament time. Columbia got another with in a big way last night at Giles Co by 25-30 or so.. not sure if final but what I note here is that Rachael Peery was game high 15. That is a different game high scorer each game for Columbia. That's what is going to make it difficult to defend when you play them.... they can come at you with so many looks. Same thing on defense The Shelbyville game went as expected. Bennet got in foul trouble early and that killed Lawrence Co's chances. Columbia has Coffee Co. on Tues in Manchester and Shelbyville in the Lions Den on Friday next week without Carol Lampley... Things should start to settle out then
  7. Culle's coach has to sit this one out for getting tossed at Forrest the other night. Culleoka girls could get nasty. Jana Cross could score 50.
  8. Lincoln Co is going to have to play alot better than they did this weekend in the Columbia Rotary Thanksgiving tournament. They probably will but Columbia obviously is playing better at present. Lampleys injury will hurt Columbia for the time she's out but fortunately they don't have too many difficult games during that stretch. Lincoln Co. will get better for sure but they better get on the stick.
  9. Columbia is in fact down from normal talent levels. (Let not your heart be troubled help is on the way sooner than later the youth are big and tallented.) Having said that, with the injuries to 2 starters and the lack of size... it will be difficult tonight for the Lions. But as most know anything can happen in the Lions Den. Oakland more than likely will prevail but they will know they've had a tussle. Oakland 68 Columbia 60 (Maybe this will fire the guys up)
  10. If any of you saw the action Saturday night and saw the injury you along with everyone in the gym (deathly silence) may have thought the worst. Carol just got out of the Bone and Joint Clinic with good news. Minimal tear in the Medial Collateral Ligament. No surgery needed. out 3-4 weeks and should be fine. Our prayers were answered for Carol's health. Outlook is great. The Lady Lions will have someone step up (like the Braves did when Chipper went down) and we'll grow stronger. As many of you saw in the Rotary Thanksgiving Tournament. the Lady Lions will have to be reckoned with. This may slow it down a bit but no one promised us a paved road this year. We'll take the bumps and mud and Carol will help her replacement until she gets back then we'll see...... Thanks for all your concerns. We'll keep injury updates on the web. www.columbialadylions.com
  11. My daughter spoke to her yesterday and Carol was feeling "better" only experiencing stiffness and not much pain. We all hope for the best. Been praying one long prayer. You know it's hard to keep from praying for her to be well from the basketball perspective but I just pray she's healthy and whatever it is maybe only minor. Sometimes you get selfish from wanting to win and beat the other guy but I'm trying not to let that happen. you guys may have to pray for me As for the tournament, it couldn't have gone better. We are already making plans for next year all the out of state teams want to return and more are already calling. If you or your team wants to get in they need to email coach from the website www.columbialadylions.com
  12. Pageman, Owens is a Soph. and remember her name. D-1 schools are already getting in line. Overall great crowds no major problems. Just some great High School ladies basketball. Looking forward to today's schedule. Key game today... Lincoln County vs. South Gwinette
  13. HUGE WIN for Columbia Central avenging one of last year's 3 losses to South Gwinnette. I don't know if there is a better team out there on any given night as good as South Gwinnette. The Lady Lions still have alot of work to do but the win is big. Great day of basketball look forward to tomorrow night and also the Lincoln County South Gwinnette matchup tomorrow. I thought the Tupilo Mississippii team was excellent also. Wayne Co played them hard but just too much ammo. Giles Co. better bring their A game tomorrow against Tupelo.
  14. Hey pageman, in case you want Columbia's a printable roster is at www.columbialadylions.com.
  15. you can go to www.columbialadylions.com and the full schedule is there also
  16. Yes I think so, that will be a good retro matchup. The Columbia South Gwinette on Friday will be a killer also. The game in Atlanta last year was a war. IT ended on a controversial play and they won by 1. They only graduated 1 player so it will be difficult for the lady Lions.
  17. Pageman, you and kwright come on up to the hospitality room and we'll have a dog and talk b'ball.
  18. Okay I guess we'll have to cut you some slack. Drop in on the LC MC thread and give us your opinion.
  19. It is 9:12 p.m. and no news yet on the game. Showtime..... Unionvegas.... somebody .... give us the word who won? Seriously I haven't heard any info? Stats? c'mon we know you're out there
  20. Actually, the boys coach made the schedule and he's pretty well stacked and wanting to play as tough a schedule as possible. So that makes it rough on a girls team that struggles
  21. You are obviously right either kidding or hasn't kept up with Culle for the last few years. Even when they had talent they weren't very prepared so you could say coaching but this guy has only been there a couple of years. They are very thin talent wise but enough players to do better than getting waxed like that so I guess you could say it is coaching. I think the guy is well intended but was an assistant baseball coach before he took the girls job so probably not alot of experience. That along with a tough district will make for a long season. Call up the 8th graders and get some experience for the future.
  22. I know alot of people like Shelbyville for the AAA ball. Problem is... their own district is tough enough that they might have a hard time but if that weren't enough go to their website and look at the 5 injuries which 3 are season ending...very little guard play and yes a transfer (Armstrong) who the jury is still way out on. I just think 9AAA has the horses right now and you could pick 1 of 3 Heritage will only go as far a Cait takes them.. if she's injured or in foul trouble, they aren't a very good team so until someone steps up Mt. Juliet still owns the ball and you got to take it away from them.
  23. AAA don't have a clue is probably the best prediction I've heard yet. Someone we don't even mention now probably will win
  24. No prob kwight.... Yeah there were some rough times but I still think it was mainly on the boys side of the equation. Come on to the games and you'll enjoy.
  25. Just for curriosity sake... How did Lincoln Co look? Any standouts?
