  1. let it out brother. i'm here if you need to vent on someone.
  2. friday night lights might be the best book i have ever read. i had the privledge to meet its author and have dinner with him last year. just listening to him answering my questions about the experience blew me away. his description of that town basically destroyed it. i think it's one of the most vivid examples of honest journalism ever. i can't wait to see the movie although i have my doubts it can match the emotional intensity of the book. check out last week's sports illustrated which has an article written by buzz bissinger(the author) and is pretty moving itself.
  3. I wouldn't question what redtwin states to be fact. he is consistent with his posts and knows what he is talking about. i agree that riverdale has a hard time finishing a season which can be directly attributed to poor coaching. of course they are one of the top teams in the state this year, no one would argue that. however year in and year out their level of competition isn't high enough for the lofty status they claim to have.
  4. sadly the mba students will be tasting last year's leftovers today at lunch, sage rocks.
  5. I am ashamed to be a Vols fan today. It was a disgrace. Of course i will remain loyal to my team but the pain will be searing for weeks, even months. If we play like that against UGA we may as well not show up. On a brighter note it was nice seeing some Nashville guys on the field, ie. Jake Slaughter, John Vaughn, Cody Bliss, and Cooper Wallace's amazing touchdown drop.
  6. Huge, Huge, Huge win Big Red. It's always hard to win on the road but no one travels better than the boys from West End. I love takin it into some one elses house and showing them that we Nashvillians know how it's done. Keep working hard guys. Roll Red
  7. Good post Chattcity. I think everyone is overlooking the fact that no team will outwork the Big Red and that's why I think we'll win this one. No teams plays harder than MBA in the fourth quarter without question.
  8. McCallie always proves to be somewhat of a worthy opponent for the Big Red. They are one of the best coached teams in the state. However I'd say the summer conditioning MBA did this summer will pay off and the Big Red will outwork McCallie in the fourth quarter and put this one away. 250 yards of rushing, a Bubis TD, and a Christenberry kickoff return for a TD would make me very happy. Roll Red.
  9. riverdale's quality of competition is not nearly the level it would need to be for me to ever say they are the best team in the state. last year the top three teams in DIIAAA (CBHS, BA, MBA) would have all beaten Riverdale. They are a good team and have a good chance of winning state. However I wouldn't proclaim them the best team in the state and I would never say they are unbeatable.
  10. our play calling is way too conservative for my liking. where did you see that gutierrez is starting? haha i go there and i don't know- i guess they don't tell us students much. i was pretty much half andhalf with henne, he didn't make many big mistakes (probably cause he never got the chance to) but he didn't utilize any of michigan's big play guys (other than braylon edawrds, ie jason avant), but we'll see. i like how gutierrez goes with the shaved head, pretty gutsy unless your name is jordan.
  11. sadly no bubis touchdown, correct?
  12. good call on de la salle- altho now we're playing a true freshman chad henne. oh well lloyd carr is throwing our season now the drain. i guess there's always women's field hockey!
  13. i reccomend that mba is a rug mat be given the boot from coacht. i think i speak for everyone when i say those kind of comments aren't really welcome here.
  14. i think last year was an ankle injury but he had one previous acl tear maybe in high school. 10 points to the person who can tell us where he went.
  15. Biggest downside to the win: losing Kevin Simon. we needed him in the middle for leadership and experience. now we will have to rely on jason mitchell to move to mike and some sam and bring some freshman in. hopefully they can learn fast.
  16. Where are McCallie's strongest places on this year's team? No doubt they'll be well-coached and well-disciplined as always, but they did lose Ryan Moore and I suppose a few others. What's that fellow's name that UT is recruiting? #84 from last year if I remember correctly.
  17. I'm not really sure the Eagles can stand another silver ball. If they do I'd say it's time for Coach Flatt to hang up the whistle and give the program over. I'd say things will definately get more and more interesting as the year goes on. The level of intensity will raise and teams will play better and better. Happens every season.
  18. How can you say MBA doesn't also have passion?
  19. We proved to the nation that there's nothing like UT football in the entire nation. I hope Corso and Herstreit were watching cause they should have been there.
  20. Bubis has become something of a TSSAA Warren Sapp of the goalline set for the Big Red. I think he lines up at fullback but word on the street is MBA is putting in a play that would take Bubis over the top of the pile- most people aren't aware of his outstanding leaping ability. He reminds me of former Big Red T Seth Cooper.
  21. Amen to that hs sports fan. Finally we have a dominating O-Line and some running backs who are running hard, thanks to RB coach Trooper Taylor. I like both Schaeffer and Ainge but I was upset with Schaeffer's indecision last night on passing plays. He definately has a freshman's mind in some way because he would pull the ball down instead of checking down to other receivers. Ainge has a better sense of patience and stood in the pocket for longer. Either way I like how both of them are playing. They both play well above their experience level and are seeming the adapt to the college game very well. And I can say for the first time in a long time that finally Randy Sanders is calling some good plays. I love the system of checking off at the line...it works very well I think. Great win for the Vols, Wilhoit is the man. Colquitt for Heisman, I'll say that all season.
  22. The Big Red will roll over the Irish on Thursday night. This game has evolved the past few years from an intense rivalry to an MBA dominated series. Even still it's always a game worth watching. As long as MBA plays sound football the Big Red will have no problems. 250 yards of rushing and a couple of Matt Bubis touchdowns would be nice, and what about a tackle eligible to Birdsong? Hit em in the mouth Big Red. You know how we do it on West End.
  23. this will be a classic ut/florida game. both teams are strong and there is much hype. I would skip an exam to watch this game!
  24. much to my happiness today i pick up this week's copy of SI: On campus ( i go to u mich in ann arbor) and see that knoxville has been named the number one college football weekend experience. the big house is great but neyland will always have a special place in my heart!
