  1. For all the younger coaches out there PLEASE click here to get an example. Back in the 1970's there was a television show called "Dean Martin Roast" I believe. For you younger coaches out there all the friends of the person who was being "roasted" would come up and tell a particular funny story about the person being "roasted". It was hilarious!! My question here is what coach have you worked with would you like to "roast" if you could. For me, it would have to be Don Stewart. Don Stewart has had a wonderful career as a high school football coach being the offensive line coach at Marion County High School. During his time at MCHS the team won 4 state championships and 2 runner-up trophies. Beyond the field, Don has been a super friend of mind for over 20 years and I love him like he was my own dad. This past weekend we went to Nashville to the Glazier Clinic and had a large time just catching up on old times. Everywhere we go I am amazed at the number of coaches and friends he runs into and talks to everyone. Who would you like to "roast" if you could?
  2. You might be seeing a lot more of me. Things have changed and a lot of other changes are going to be made. It is an exciting time in Purple and White land. If you are not a 100% into improving this program then its time to get out of the way and make room for those who will be. GO WARRIORS!! TOOT-TOOT!!
  3. Coach Colquette was not asked or told to leave. He wanted to go to South Georgia where the "Eric Westmoreland" type kids are more frequent and the $$$$$ is better. 17 years as head coach at Marion County was good for the community and for him. He did a great job in establishing a program. As I have mentioned in earlier posts, the chemistry surrounding MCHS was there for a program to do great things during that time. People are going to be surprised about Marion County High School very soon. I will not go into details but believe me things are happening for that chemistry to return. Did anyone on this board make it out to the "meet and greet" session with Coach Mac? We had a grand ole time if you missed it!
  4. Roy I hate to type it but you need to worry about the ones not sending in their stuff for that $10 football book and leave when Marion County High School can start weightlifting to football coach. That Childress man does not have to worry about MCHS being on the level.
  5. 12 seasons at Moore County 123 wins 28 losses 6 seasons at Marshall County with 49 wins 22 losses 5 seasons at Ripley, Miss. 48 wins 15 losses his overall coaching record is 220-65 in 23 years.
  6. Coach Ziegler may be young but he has a great deal of leadership qualities. The level of maturity and wisdom he possesses is way beyond his years. It is more behind the scenes that he has asked for their opinions due to their experience in certain situations but the process has been impressive!
  7. I know who you are thinking of Possum. Interesting.
  8. You can put that little quote in the archives! I guarantee you that $#!+ is history!
  9. 3. Your name is possum but you have a tiger for your pic? Tobias does not know The Possum on this here board!
  10. I know you are exaggerating the number of people you saw with whistles at our fieldhouse the other day. At most you saw two not fifteen. The other two people there did not have their whistles. Instead of fifteen it should be four at the most. The new coach who is coming may bring a few more whistles however.
  11. Just having a little fun OldTiger. I don't think Coach Grider gives a hoot what I put on this board when it comes time for us to play. If your name suggests how long you have been around the game you know teams go through good times and bad times. You have to take the kids that walk into your school from the community unless you are one of those private schools.
  12. I wonder what kind of no-class stunt they will pull this year before the game starts. Remember last year when you stomped on that Big ole Power P in the middle of the field. You all just stirred up a hornet's nest do that little number.
  13. I promise I am not purplepastry I have hard enough time remembering one log in name and password little long two. You are right that Coach Ziegler will make the right decision for Marion County High School!
  14. I am not a paying customer of CoachT so I can't read the messages you have sent. Send me an e-mail at bill495049@yahoo.com
  15. Let me assure all our South Pittsburg friends that this will not be a problem. The process is working quite well and Coach Ziegler has done a terrific job. He has been straight forward with people that are close to the Marion County program. They have respected his wishes and not talked a great deal about it. I have been asked by several coaches, newspaper writers, and people who like to gossip who it is going to be. My response has been very respectful, "don't know the announcement will come soon". I will let you on a few things though... 1.You boys have no idea on this thread 2.TSSAA will not be give this thing a "funny look" 3.The position WILL BE filled sooner then you think if things fall in the right place 4.Looking in the wrong direction it's right in front of you but you cant see it 5.I have enjoyed your responses though
  16. No I did not throw my hat in the ring. Interviews should be starting soon and I believe Coach Ziegler has made some good choices to start with. The ones coming in are really good coaches and we would be in great shape with any of them. The boys will be impressed by the quality of these men. People will be surprised to hear who some of them are. When the time comes Coach Ziegler will make the announcement so don't even ask who they are.
  17. I pass. Coach Ziegler is a very good judge of character and will do just fine. This is a tough decision and ask people to keep Coach Ziegler in your thoughts and prayers to give him wisdom and clarity in making it.
  18. I have to do this HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
  19. Funny how things happen. Coach Summey played football at Vonore in the mid 70's, really good player to. UT sent a scout down to see if he could play for them. They were playing Tellico I think and on one particular play Coach Summey got cheap shoted and he got up and very preciously put his cleat in the face mask of that young man. So I have been told. UT scout got up told the Coach Gregory that he would never play for the Vols. Coach Summey signed and played college football at Tennessee Tech. Graduated from there and his first coaching job was with Coach Grider SR. at South Pittsburg. He stayed at SP for 5 years and came back to coach at Vonore for two years replacing Coach Satterfield. Then moved on to Maryville High School, then to Sequoyah. After a couple of years Coach Satterfield replaced Coach Summey at Sequoyah.
  20. Coach Satterfield is at Sequoyah now. He played at Lanier High School in Blount County I believe. Then started coaching at Lenoir City, then Vonore, then Greenback, tried at a private school in Knoxville for a couple years and then back to Monroe County with Sequoyah. His boy is the offensive coordinator at UTC. Marcus Satterfield.
