  1. Okay, so it looks like Lavergne and Independence are the teams to beat this year. RIght--since all 9 of their returning starters are Division 1-A third team all county. Alright, the fact that Preston Bailey (MBA) has only been mentioned once is crazy. The guy is a legit 6'5 315 pounds and was easily MBA's best lineman last year. He also plays basketball, which will pay huge dividends in the footwork department. Look for him to get looks early from Vandy and local schools before he hits camps next summer and gets on the national scale. Look for Nate Wade (S) and Edward Vinsang (RB) of MBA to turn some heads as well. Oh, and for the guys who had the argument about whether or not a college could offer a scholarship until after the junior season...ask Patrick Turner if Vandy offered him after his SOPHOMORE year. Yep, it happened.
  2. lainhart from MBA is actually a middie. the 3rd close D-man looks to be either terrell mcwhirter, garrett ramsey (soph), or cage spoden. cage had a good year at longpole middie last year but hurt his ankle during tryouts this year. when he comes back in the next week or two we'll see whether he will move to close or go back to longpole middie.
  3. Did anyone see Riley's pin against Ryan this past weekend? Incredible. He's got to be the obvious favorite at 275. His combination of size, experience, and instinct gives him a great shot at winning state. He's also as classy as they come in high school wrestling and it's always great to see wrestlers of his integrity succeed. Look for him to be one of MBA's many bright spots in the State tournament.
  4. Patrick Bradley from MBA is this year's David Donlon in D2 wrestling. The guy has shown incredible improvement since his freshman year and looks to finish his career in fine fasion. He lost to Father Ryan's Oddo (who wrestles 130 and should win state in that class) 10-6 and was actually winning for some of the match. He also placed 4th in the Father Ryan tourney (higher than anyone else from D2). Watch for him to go far in the State individuals and give Manson from Baylor a good match.

  6. Defense is underrated in high school basketball. In DII, who can shut down their opponent better than anybody? My obvious vote goes to Brenton Harrison. However, CJ Hurt is being recruited for his shut down defense and should turn some heads this season.
  7. Ya'll are crazy. MBA senior Tee Patterson is lights out from behind the arc. He's been one of the premiere 3 point shooters in DII since his sophomore year and, with Brad French gone, should have a huge year along with Junior Deon Gaines.

Ladies and Gentlemen of the Girls Basketball Forum, the Great Sarah Baker (sb32) has graced us with her presence. I would like to officially appologize for my previous post concerning the team chemistry of Harpeth Hall, as I would never attempt to question the immediate team chemistry that Sarah brings to the team the second she steps onto the court. Sarah, last years Miss Basketball, recently shocked the world as she chose to pursue Furman University over the WNBA draft. Sarah, on behalf of every person who has ever watched Womens Sports, Thank You. Thank you for 3 wonderful years of unbelievable basketball. Thank you for reviving this great sport. Thank you for acting as an example for our children and our children's children to follow. You will always remain as one of the greatest Honeybears to ever hit the hardwood. We all wish you the best of luck in your senior season and in your college career at FU.

Whose going all the way in DII?

On paper, the Honeybears of Harpeth Hall are the team to beat. Opposing teams should cringe when they see the starting lineup: Baker, Downs, Parrish, Regan, and French. With a solid bench highlighted by sharpshooter Krissie Binkley, the only thing that can stop the Honeybears is themselves. If the girls show an obvious lack of dedication and commitment to the team, then we could be in for another Briarcrest State Championship. Hopefully, these girls will display the right attitude this season and work much harder to form a much-needed team chemistry.
  11. WOAH! you bench 290 and you only weigh 160!!! will you please be my friend??? you probly dont need any more friends though..since youre so strong...

    Best Goalie

wow...ya'll are forgetting about regan here. the guy gets 1st team all state 2 years in a row and youre between baucom and rainer? OK, he didnt have the best game against MUS but sawyer had some amazing shots and gibson is gibson. the guy had 22 saves against mccallie!!! 22! thats like a hockey goalie. and in the game we lost he had 17. and what about clearing? baucom doesnt touch regan. rainer will easily be the best goalie in the state next year and he put on a show against MBA but i would still take regan. baucom is better because the crowd "awws" at his commands??? and he shows no fear? wow...thats a pretty unique guy right there...hes a goalie...i would hope that 2nd team all state wouldnt be afraid of the ball. while baucoms split saves are cool and hes great goalie, lets stick with regan. rainer is hands down the best next year. and being warmed up by clay caroland isnt too shabby.
