  1. daddyraider-TF; Just want to thank you for all the hard work you & your staff including parents that worked last weekend. They all were very helpful & were out there just as much & even more during the tournament. Weather is an issue that you never can guarantee. If you don't like the format or playing in tournaments that get rained out, don't sign up. Thanks to Terry for a terrific job well done with good competition throughout Friday & Saturday. It's tournament time in Tennessee. Hope some of you aren't 1 & out at the District tournament, maybe the State will give you another game.
  2. No, SD is not overrated. They are the real deal, I promise you. They can show up anytime & you better have your "A" game or you will be embarrassed. I know they have to play their best to win but everyone just like some other great teams like Goodpasture, Riverdale and all the other top teams have to do, play with the BIG TARGET on their chest & where everyone wants to go out to beat them. When the time is right, look out, they will be there. Teams just can't get up every game for every team, every night. If you take 1 game to prepare for, I don't think you want to play them. This same thing is true with Goodpasture for the last couple of years & Ezell Harding before that. Enjoy it when you win but hope you don't have to play them again. Good luck to all teams as the tourney road begins!
  3. Bleacherbum: "You cant play for a year if you didnt move to another school district...and also, if you transfer to a private school you cant play." School District is not quite right, it's if you move from one school zone to another you can play without sitting out. As far as private schools, the TSSAA has them also moving from one zone to another, it's ok to play (but TSSAA tells you where that zone is, they overlap several schools to get out of that zone). Kind of means you would have to move to another area to transfer private schools without sitting out. Old Blue, if you move, you can play immediately but all transfers have to be approved by TSSAA in advance of particiating in practice or games.
  4. The way it has been explained to me by TSSAA is that the JV is made for 8th Grade(If you have those on your team), Fresh & Soph's to play JV. If you have Jr's that don't start then they can play also. In addition, if you have players that are ineligible for Varsity Competition, then they can play also. However, if a team plays JV, then the oposing team also has to play JV. You can not play JV against someone else's Varsity or then it becomes a Varsity contest.
  5. Most games in our area Middle Tennessee are great, FREE!
  6. They led Brentwood throughout the entire game, but let them tie it when the time ran out. SB108- I thought Marshall Co looked pretty good this weekend. I was watching them play Brentwood Friday pm, but they got the lead at the end of the game & Brentwood came back to tie the game. Best I remember, Brentwood was leading 1-0 the 1st 3 innings. Best of luck to the Tigers, they look pretty good if the pitching holds up.
  7. Why are officials chosen to call your game. There may be over 200 assignments made & it's pretty hard to look at each assignment to say the official should not call this particular game. The coaches know who is coming & they have a right to scratch the official before the game. Uusally, coaches get the officials they want, at least a range of officials for the tougher games. Officials are accountable for their actions & they are reprimanded, fined, suspended from games just like coaches. The only exception is that officials usually do not have the right of appeal like the coaches do with TSSAA. The TSSAA is consistent with it's rules & regulations & have told the coaches & officials what they will do when they cross the line. Could they pay more, sure. Could they pay less, sure. But, the game is not bigger than itself. Someone said that officials come to be seen, but how many of you have come to a game & seen a player than loves the environment & it's all about him. Coaches do the same thing. And guess what, have you ever seen fans that love to be seen & heard. You can go to every game and it doesn't matter who their team is playing or coaching against, and the same fan says the same ole things towards the officiating. One night he might have the worst official in the area & the next night he might have the best official. But guess what, this fan jumps on him just like anyone else, usually even before the ball is thrown up. I don't officiate but only coach, but I love to show up at a neutral game & what the officials, coaches & fans celebrate, embarras themselves & all. When the lights turn on the game begins, something happens to us all, especially if you have an interest in the ball game. Have you have been to a football game & UT & just watched the fans? Someone the other night said that when John Clougherty(sp) shows up at an SEC or other game, they immediately have an interest & an argument in the game. He hasn't made a call & is considered one of the best officials in the country whether you like him or not. Usually that means he's been around a long time. Officials in College & high school are critiqueed througout the season & get reports on their games every night. They do get penalized but someone said when you get 95-96% of your calls right, that's great in most everything else except throwing a bomb. Have fun & enjoy the season! Wait till tournament time starts & you'll see the heat turn up on the players, coaches & officials. Oh, and let's not forget the FANS!
  8. Both sports are a little different. We have had 2 coaches that came from Baseball & they I think can make the change better than softball to baseball, but I know 1 did in Mid Tn & did pretty well. The game is different because of short game. Pitchers/catchers are more valuable.
  9. Looking for serious 18-U catcher to play in high profile tournaments this summer. 1 spot available. Available most weekends. Several top players & pitchers in Middle TN Area committed. For more information, email: sball127@yahoo.com (Please send name, school, previous experience)
  10. TheFlash-..But several years ago, we had an experience in our local community that left a bad taste in our mouths. club K sent down a pitching instuctor to a group of our girls, and told us up front that we had to pay in advance and that if a girl quit before the class was completed, there would be no refund of any amount. .. I have a friend that several years ago broke her wrist in an accident right before the start of a new pitching session started and was told she couldn't pitch, cast was going to be on for about 8-10 weeks. Guess what, told no refund & guess what, never went back.
  11. From what I heard, I don't think that is true. I think she had a chance to sign with the former coaches, but now that has changed & she is just hoping to play somewhere. She had a good high school career, what's she doing this summer?
  12. Just wish Summer softball hadn't gone away. I know we needed to make room for bowling, but maybe peope will use this as a place to start.
  13. SFTBLCOACH- Can you tell me about the Inman Rose coming up. How many teams do you have & can you take anymore?
  14. Sara did not leave UTC for homesickness, maybe something else is sick. UTC has alot of answering to do, losing some pretty good players. Heard some of the Chatt players were thinking about not playing there because they were home sick too. Maybe "We Have A Problem!!!" Sara will still play & is now searching her options. Good Luck to her whoever gets her-
  15. Congratulations to LIZ AUSTIN for being named the Female Athlete of Year at BA. Way to go Liz. Good Luck at UT. Also to Kate as she goes to Belmont and cracks that golf team. Again, great careers also to Jessica who is so underated but fundamentally a great player & to Chrissa who played through pain & kept the team going with key hits.
