  1. I happened to get into a debate with a friend who was dead set that Alcoa had beaten WB almost every year since 98 and I told him, that as much as it hurt, that he was wrong. I know WB beat Alcoa several years in a row and that the last win for WB was when Phelps was the coach in 03 and Alcoa got the victory last year. Do any of you have for certain the outcomes from 98 till the present and who was at the helm for the Govs in each of those seasons? Go ALCOA (- Warren)
  2. Finally a decision I agree with. When will all of these changes be in effect or do you know, especially basketball? Now Heritage and WB, if you've got any guts, DROP MARYVILLE!
  3. WRONG!!! What an idiot. Alcoa has already demolished the #2 & #3 teams in the state, Fulton has already knocked off #1 and Maryville is....well Maryville. Your East Tennessee jealousy is comical.
  4. Been out of the loop for a day or so but I did hear coach Reid on Sportstalk 990 say that Heritage and WB had dropped Alcoa. Is it official that WB has dropped them? If so, Alcoa needs to stop playing both in all sports, period! Also, if losing to better competition which is not in a lower classification is the reason for pulling out of this game then if Heritage and WB has any guts (which they don't) they'll drop Maryville IMMEDIATELY! They won't though because this is absolutely the biggest gate of the year. Thank the Rebs for the payout and the beat down. How sad when a new coach can come in and throw his weight around over administration that has been in place for a while and a member of this community for ever. Enjoy those loses to Seymour and Campell Co. because it will happen.
  5. I still feel that all the arguments to end these series are weak. Alcoa ought to do what UT did to Memphis but in reverse. No football = No basketball or whatever else. How sad when a 5A school gets their fragile little ego's hurt when they get beat by a 2A school, even if they are one of the strongest teams in the state with multiple Division 1 prospects. Besides, all these kids have competed against each other since they were little and to have that chance to compete taken away when they get to high school because or someone's fear of losing is a joke. WB and Heritage ought to be ashamed. Again, to be the man you have to beat the man. I guarantee these 2 schools would beg like mad if Maryville ever decided to drop them because that is "THE GAME" on their schedule, no matter what they night say, not to mention the biggest gate.
  6. It saddened me to see Heritage drop Alcoa from its schedule and possibly WB. Hey WB AD and other officials. DO NOT DROP ALCOA FROM THE SCHEDULE! If the fear of losing to a quality opponent is your reason like Heritage suggests then why do you continue to schedule Central and Maryville. As a Blount County resident and HS football fan I'd much rather go watch WB and Alcoa rather than Alcoa vs. Podunk High from 100 miles away. County games always have a huge turnout and county pride is always on the line. I shouldn't say it but here it goes. Coach Rewis and the Heritage admin are wusses. To be the man you have to beat the man. Don't run from quality competition. All you're doing is admitting your lame and trying to validate it with this bs excuse. I'd be willing to bet your kids get up a bit more when WB, Alcoa, and Maryville are on the schedule rather than McMinn Co. or Soddy Daisy. Once again a Blount County school makes a lousy decision. Good luck next year against the Sisters Of The Poor or any other patsy you try and line up. Sad.
  7. I never said I hope they punish the whole team, just that they lose. With that, I'll take my medicine and say 1)Congrats Heritage, 2)Alcoa has more than had its share of thugs that's made the school look bad, 3)honestly feel that there is some jealousy or hostility toward WB from many in the Mountaineer community and 4) I don't HAVE TO pull for a county team to be considered a football fan.
  8. O.K., we'll make this thread about these 2 teams. They're both jokes.
  9. You still haven't told me which school your affiliated with and I with no documentation I have a hard time believing your story. The local newspaper is all the info I need. "Burning" or spraying the field with spray paint is one thing and is bad enough but when you do thousands of dollars worth of damage to the stadium, scoreboard, etc. that's another. The county also has to dip into its funds to repair the damage kids from one county school did to another and that's the last thing Blount County schools need. It sounds like you condone this type of activity.
  10. I don't care if its the players or not, the ones involved still represent Heritage. Do you have proof that some WB folks "burned" your field as you say and who would your team be? The Daily Times, for what its worth, had the story on Sat. They've also reported other juvenile acts of vandalism such as when Maryville kids sprayed up the brand new gym at AHS. Once is bad enough but a pattern seems to be developing at Heritage, especially when thousands of dollars worth of damage is being done.
  11. Hopefully Heritage gets pounded. I usually don't cheer against local schools but after that vandalism act that was done to WB for the 2nd straight year they don't deserve to win. Congrats to the Govs on the big win and Heritage, its past time to take out the trash. Hopefully the BC admin will take the cost to repair the damage out of Heritage's funds.
  12. GovMan, thanks for the info and congrats on the win.
  13. I voted 4th but I'm often overly optomistic. I'm hoping for another gold ball to add to the trophy case.
  14. I was told this week that the baseball coach at WB has told his players that if they want to play baseball they must play baseball ONLY. That he wouldn't allow any of his guys to play football, basketball, wrestle, etc. because their sole attention needed to be on baseball and if they choose to play another soprt then they can forget baseball. Is there any truth to this? If so, that has to hurt some of the other sports teams, especially football, if quality athletes choose baseball solely. Also if this is true, have any parents questioned this and what is the AD's stance? Could you imagine telling an Al Davis "Hey, you can only play baseball." He was only offered baseball and football scholarships to UGA and like All-Region in basketball. I hope this is just a rumor.
  15. I may need someone to straighten me out but did Albert Davis from Alcoa get drafted in the NFL? I can't remember. His son did get selected by the Pirates in about the 39th round back in '94. How 'bout Leroy Thompson from Austin East - Steelers.
