  1. Milan is gonna have to start getting some pressure on High.
  2. Making too many mistakes. Int on the goal line and the muffed kick hurt big time. Need a stop on this drive.
  3. In 2008 Chase James said that Milan was the best team they played all year (CAK and Maryville included). When Rankin was asked about it he said, "Milan is definitely the 2nd best team in the state." We knew this wasn't one of our best teams. Still very young. But, this one ain't over yet.
  4. Which Milan player muffed the kick?
  5. Public Broadcasting is not working, of course. Can't watch it on tssaa website. Anyone know where I can get a feed?
  6. Trevor Milan (#7) who I've mentioned several times before on this thread had I believe 5 TFL and a sack against CPA. The other D-end Braxton Simpson who recorded the safety had 3 TFL and 3 sacks last week. If we can get enough pressure with our front 4 where we can drop Coleman and Graves (who has a couple of pick 6's this postseason) I like our chances. In the Milan paper CAK head coach said Milan reminded him a lot of Alcoa. Sound fundamentals, not much trickery, great athletes, pound the football.
  7. Football Dad, at the conclusion of the regular season there were a lot of west tenn football "gurus" who were saying this was the worst Milan team since the mid 90's. The Milan folks knew that while this was not the most talented Milan team, there was plenty of talent there. So, the vast majority of people didn't think we'd make it this far. And we're still pretty young (Jr class has pretty much led this team). As for you CAK boys, well you beat Alcoa not once, but twice. That alone is enough to position y'all as the favorites. The AP poll is nothing that should be taken seriously, and you lost 2 games by a combined 2 points. While our DBs have, like the rest of our team, played very well in the playoffs, that's probably our biggest weakness. But, hopefully they can play like they have the last couple of weeks. Again, the talent is there, just have to play like it.
  8. All of the Jrs. should be listed as Srs. and all of the Sophomores with the exception of #22 Trey Belew should be listed as Jrs. Milan has 5 seniors and 6 juniors starting on offense. There are 4 seniors, 6 juniors, and 1 sophomore starting on defense.
  9. How well does High scramble around?
  10. I will be interested to see how the front 4 of Milan matches up with CAK's O-line and how much pressure they're able to get. Milan's D-ends were in the backfield all night against CPA and Nunn is a beast in the middle. If CAK's tackles aren't quick it will be difficult to block Trevor Milan and Simpson.
  11. And if not for MUS and Brentwood no telling how many championships Milan would have won in the 80's. All we have to show from that era is that we've made the playoffs every year since '82.
  12. He's a junior. Not sure what kind of student he is. One of his brothers graduated in 05 and played MLB at Tennessee State, the other was also a great athlete but was killed when he was shot in the back last year.
  13. None taken. We're certainly the underdogs, pun intended, so smart pick on your part.
  14. The play clock is operated by an official on the field.
  15. lol the fans from the team that made the state championship leading the way huh? You know, for as crap as you've been given over the years for your "lack of football knowledge" gcpioneer, you've done well this pick 'em.
  16. If Huntingdon had played the team that played CPA last night they would've lost by a couple of scores. We've said all year that Milan had the talent but was underachieving. Having said that, Milan is not as good as they were in 03,08,09 and maybe a couple of there years, but if their DBs can play like they did last night, and the O-line can perform like it did in the first half we might just come away with that 5th gold ball. I remember after the regular season a Dyersburg fan (i think) saying that Milan was the worst 9-1 team in the state. You gotta love Milan's coaches and ability to win playoff games.
  17. The officicals had no effect on the outcome of the game, but they were as lost as an easter egg. Anyone ever seen that many official timeouts? And the reason we were booing on the lone offensive TD- check this out... Hightlights
  18. As a rule: I never eat BBQ east of Kentucky Lake, and the closer to Memphis the better. East TN does better football, overall and generally, but the BBQ recipes haven't made their way east yet. I have no idea what to expect from CAK. Y'all put out the champs so we all owe you a pat on the back for that. This isn't our best team and we're still pretty young, but we do have talent and some of the best coaches around. I look forward to not seeing someone other than the beasts in maroon.
  19. I'm not sure who our PA guy is this year but it's his first. Preston Caldwell had done it for about the last 15 years but gave it up after last year, and he was as good as they get. And as much as I love Stevie Ray, the new crew is no Brother Sam McElory (with Robin Cude who is studio guy for 93.7 now) who was publicly welcomed to the game in the first quarter. Brother Sam was honestly the best radio guy I've ever heard, at any level.
  20. lol "For 96.5 wbfg espn radio this is Frank Underwood reporting." Anyways, we'll certainly get a look at our DBs next week. As I understand CAK has a heck of a QB.
  21. Think he got hurt just before halftime. The DBs were in position and played the ball perfectly all night. Think they only gave up the couple of hitch routes. Nothing down field.
  22. Good luck, HC. Let's bring some gold back to the west.
