  2. Not kidding. I dropped these kids in every meat grinding tournament I could find (Father Ryan, Brentwood, Prep Slam in Atlanta). We practice with several AAA teams and invite folks to practice with us. Most of what we have been doing is learning to get up after being knocked down. I've coached in the top ten, and if you wrestled in Tennessee I've coached against you someplace. I'll grant you the Invitational makes some folks sneer (like yourself), that's OK. If you didn't get to see the match between Coach Hollowell's kids and mine in the Invitational finals -you missed a great match. Not many Fargo champions - but an awesome high school wrestling match - really, no kidding.
  3. I appreciate Coach Hollowell's post, and Coach Knepper's work, just don't understand how Franklin Road Academy won the Middle / East Section and the Invitational and got knocked out of the rankings.
  4. Franklin Road Academy placed 8th in the individuals, BGA placed 9th.

    State Duals

Knox Webb represented the East. Only 6 teams from the East/Middle regions qualify plus 2 from the West. Several Webb wrestlers were out with the flu at the qualifying tournament on the 23rd.
  6. Say the state tournament were unified again (10 regions, 3 qualifiers plus 2 each) - how many good wrestlers are left home now? Tee's loss cost him a title, it didn't negate his career as a wrestler. Without knowing him or his family, I recognize the discipline, effort, and dedication he put into the sport. These kids train, freestyle, and travel to camps to get on the top step of that stand. If you held the tournament three weekends in a row, how many of them would be on the top step all three times? Not many.
  7. Franklin won the traditional in '89 ....and Franklin Road Academy A/AA Duals - Franklin AAA Duals 2005
  8. Section III - A-AA East Literature Magnet - Champ David Lipscomb - Runner-up
  9. We are fortunate to live on "The Row", Father Ryan a mile to the right, and Overton 5 steps to the left. Brentwood 10 minutes south and Franklin just past that with our new neighbor Ravenwood. All of the coaches have to run from side to side constantly to avoid being hit by the wrestlers that fall out of the trees around here. The Princeton part I'll grant you though - I'll take you on a tour We haven't been to Greenback, but have been to the Eagle duals in Seymour before. Great people, beautiful country. I think it has much more to do with the Lord inspiring Coach Ridge and Coach McCroskey to work their butts off and give their kids huge doses work ethic and the focus to compete with the best of the best.
  10. Coach, The only correction I would make to your salute is this. Large schools are > 1000, some have over 2000. Small schools are < 1000. Greenback is a Teeny-Tiny school of less than 300 - which makes what they have done there that much more spectacular. They came to the Father Ryan Invitational this year and gave a pretty scary preview to what happened in their Region. Seymour is a great example of a strong small school. Both of these programs are putting in time and really doing alot for the sport. You gotta love it. Marc Taylor / Franklin Road Academy - student population 283
  11. Jeff Loyd of Clarksville Northwest / State Champion @ 103 Recently received the Medal of Courage from the wrestling hall of fame, Kyle Maynard of Collins Hill presented it.
  12. Luther, You continue to promote wrestling in the state through your tireless actions and remain, without a doubt, the most diplomatic man in the profession. It was my privilege to witness your induction into the Wrestling Hall of Fame, and to have coached with you for many years with Southern Champions Camps. This thread contains many who seem to be passionate about the sport. Act on your concerns and turn them into realities....the way Luther did. Marc Taylor Franklin Road Academy
  13. Harding Ac in Nashville has no varsity, the school in Memphis was the one referred to. I'm not aware of FRA and HA in Memphis ever wrestling a dual match.
  14. FRA Middle School wrestled Harding Academy Nashville. The varsity teams have not met.
  15. If I'm reading your heading correctly (06 medalist) - FRA had 2 (6th @ 135 and 5th @ 215) - not one. The 135 was the only returning medalist from '05
