  1. If Lincoln County gets past the 3rd round, it will be a great matchup whoever they play from Region 1 or 2. I agree with an early post, if it is Dobbyns Bennett, it will be tough to beat them on their home turf. If Lincoln County makes it to the finals, Lincoln County will win. They haven't lost when they get to the final game.
  2. Hey brother, I'm with you all the way! I'm not downing them at all. There may be some at the private school level that down them, but I think most on here are giving LC all the respect they deserve.
  3. I'm riding high with the Falcons, but I hope you don't have to eat crow with your comments! MBA was beaten last night. Now, don't tell me that Lincoln County can't be beat
  4. Coach Thompson must have heard my cries this week when I said to work on the passing game. Michael looked real good throwing the ball last night. They will need the passing game if they are to advance far in these playoffs. Lincoln County is pumped up and ready for the big show! They really impressed me last night. Cumberland County came out fired up! I must say that you run the Wing T offense very well. You had our defense on their heels the first quarter. You are a very well coached team. If most of your players are coming back next year, you will be hard to handle. Your QB runs the offense very well, and you have good team speed. That was nice of your cheerleaders and the players on the field getting down on their knee(s ) when one of our young men was injured! Class ACT!!! GO ALL THE WAY FALCONS!
  5. You and I had several conversations during the week about Lincoln County's passing game. I posted the thread to tell Coach Thompson to throw the ball! He must have heard me and thinking the same thing that I was thinking All I have to say is Thank You Coach Thompson! I wasn't doubting their passing game inot2bad, but wanted to see them work on it before the playoffs arrived. In the past weeks, they hardly attempted a pass. Believe me, they will need the passing game if they are to advance deep into these playoffs. I am happy now
  6. It all doesn't matter anyway. Franklin County won.
  7. Let me just say right here, I agree that Oakland has a shot of handing the Falcons their first loss, but anyone has that shot. From what I saw against Cumberland County last night, Oakland had better step it up more than a notch... something like 3 notches! if they are to win. I left the game in AW last night. Lincoln County impressed me more last night with their balance attack than they have all season! Don't think that you can fill up the box and play to stop the run, because they will hit you hard with the pass. No weak spots on this Lincoln County team. Last night, they proved that they are ready for these playoffs!
  8. I respectfully disagree, the run usually controls the clock, but in LC's case, they usually score in 3 or 4 plays with the run Yea, I know they practice the passing game during practice, but it ain't the same as in game time situation. I'm not saying abandon the run by any means, because it's what got you there. I'm just saying don't get caught in the playoffs being one dementional then have to rely on the pass that you don't do every week
  9. If you go by what's on paper, MBA would be first although I have not seen them play. My heart says Lincoln County. If they both make it and win the state, it would be great if these two could just agree to play a game after that ends for the heck of it. I do agree that the Riverdale Warriors could upset LC in the playoffs, but they will have to do it at the "PIT". A very hard task this year. To be politically correct for the first 2 positions: 1. MBA 2. Lincoln County 3. CBHS 4. Brentwood Academy Just because Dobbins Bennett lost, don't count them out! If Lincoln County makes it to the semi finals, they may have to travel to their home turf
  10. Franklin County Rebels by 10 pts. 3 pts. for home field advantage.
  11. I agree that the starters need more playing time...certainly more than they have had recently. Had they worked on their passing game the past few weeks, people really would have been screaming about running up the score. It is a tough situation to be in when your starters are so good that you won't let them play. I mean, REALLY...playing only one quarter last Friday night...c'mon guys. I realize the score was 35 - 0 with several minutes left in the FIRST Quarter, but that is not the fault of the starters. At this time of year, they need more than one quarter of playing time. This poliitcal correctness of not running up the score is going to bite them in the butt if they are not careful. I'm sure Coach Thompson will get it figured out. I agree with you that it will bite them in the butt. What I'm really saying is don't go into the playoffs and get caught being one dementional. In my opinion, I don't think LC will run up the score on anyone passing the ball. However, I think they are capable of doing it. Most of their scores come from the run. So, I'm not saying abandon the run, but this week, put more passing plays in to get work on that facet of the game. Maybe they get alot of work in before the score gets ugly if that is the case. Cumberland may play a better game than most have, and will allow them to work on the pass. There will be teams in the playoffs that will slow the run down, (case in point 4th quarter of the Riverdale game, the run was slowed more than I've seen anyone slow the Falcons down all year). All I'm saying is, it's best to be ready than sorry
  12. Lincoln County should win this game handidly, however, I wish someone would convey this message to the coaching staff... work on the PASSING GAME!!! This is your last chance before the playoffs to work on it, and Lincoln County will need to be able to pass the ball if they are to win the title. Someone down the line may slow the running game down, and then you will have to try and pass. Lincoln County is a well balanced team, and due to the lesser opponents they have played as of late, has had no reason to pass the football. I think this is the week that you turn Michael Edmiston loose, and throw the ball down field. This gets him and his receivers’ valuable work they so desperately need. Anyone has an opinion on this?
  13. The Bryson brothers (#s 4 and 5) from Lincoln County has done a good job of shutting everybody down this year.
  14. My question is this, if Lincoln County finishes the season undefeated, will they play all playoff games at home if they continue to win, or will they travel at some point? I thought last year, Riverdale played all of their games at home being the higher seed, until they went to the final game. Also, after playing the region of "Boro" teams, will the winner of these two regions go west or east for their next opponent, which I think would come in the 4th round?
  15. As far as playing the same teams in the playoffs, this is just the hand that is dealt. In past years, Lincoln County would not play the region with Boro Teams until the state finals. We would usually travel or play teams out of the east first, and at times out of the west. The TSSAA set it up this way, and I hope that this format gets changed in the future. It is so messed up anyway when Cookeville and Cumberland County, both some 2 hrs. away are considered region opponents. We have no choice but play the Boro teams, who are the closest 5A teams to us during the regular season to fill out the schedule. It is a shame that Riverdale, Lincoln County, Franklin County, Oakland, ect, has to beat up on each other to advance in the playoffs. Now with that being said, I do realize in order to be the best, you have to beat the best, so you just have to strap it up, and play each night no matter who it is your playing.
  16. Did you say travel? If someone knows the playoff format, please enlighten us. I thought that the Falcons would stay home the entire time IF they win, before traveling to the finals.
  17. Man, if the Coffee County vs Smyrna comes to light, I would like to see this game. Sounds like a good matchup
  18. Yes, I saw this from his other thread that was posted. I tried to convey the same info about running up the score before someone insinuated that we did run it up. I agree with statman, it is a shame that you have to explain yourself for just winning. I'm glad that Warren County fans know that Lincoln County did not try to run up the score. Again, I say good luck to that program, and I hope that your new coach will get more kids out for football and turn that program around!
  19. I didn't think that Kenwood would beat Franklin. OK we can cancel this post now
  20. I'm sure that I saw a score on Channel 4 showing them getting beat by Kenwood by a large margin. If you were there, and say they won by 39, Channel 4 had it wrong.
  21. Somebody tell me what went wrong with the Rebels tonight?
  22. I have to agree with you guys In past years, Warren County had some good athletes out on that field, and I'd be willing to bet, there are plenty still in that town that just don't go out for the team. Hopefully, that will change for that town. Our Falcons did everything but lay down as to not run up the score in this game. The starting offense went about 1 and 1/4 quarters before coming out of the game. I think it was like 36-38 to 0 first quarter. Lincoln County even stop sending people back to return punts for the remainder of the game, and also, the clock continued to run non stop even after touchdowns, to keep it from being ugly. Our second/third string scored several of those 70 pts tonight. I don't know what else to say... what do you do? I speak for all Falcon fans saying that it is good to win, but we are keeping it in prospective meaning not bragging about beating Warren County by this margin. I'm very sure that Coach Thompson knows that a more formidable opponent is just around the corner waiting for us come playoff time. I’m sure the first string "D" wasn't pleased that the 2nd team "D" allowed the Pioneers to score, and I understand that wanting to shut them out, but you know, this may be a good thing for the Falcons with Warren County scoring. No one knows how this team may react come playoff time if someone comes out and scores a few TDs, and we are down I'm sure that Coach Thompson will also do a good job as far as with the players keeping this game in prospective too!
  23. What I really meant was people in other towns will not remember to a degree if they don't win the state. I hear people still talk about the 1990 team with Kelly Holcomb, and I know a lot of it is because he went on to Pro Football, but they also won the state. They will remember Edmiston being a good player, but will quickly remind you that they didn't win the state. Sort of like the 1984 team if my year is correct. Of course, and I agree with you Inot2bad, Lincoln County fans will never forget what he did as a player, and those shut outs by the Falcon "D". With all of that being said, the Falcons are gearing up for the playoffs. They now have a chance to make us all remember how good they were, and provide us with good conversation later on in the years on comparing them against the 1982, 1990 teams, on who was the better team to play at Lincoln County.
  24. I disagree with your assessment. First, have you seen Lincoln County play this year? I don't think that MBA would crush LC. I'm sure that LC can compete with the BIG RED this particular year. Will LC win? I don't know, but I would like to see this game. I am sure that the BIG RED will have us on depth. We only have about 40 to 50 players on the whole team. I'll take LC's defense over anyone's this year. Someone said it best, LC cannot compete with MBA every year, but this is one of those years they can. None of this won't be settled on the field, but it does make for good conversation. MBA has played the most difficult schedule, and that speaks volumes.
  25. This is just the Tennessean being the Tennessean. At first, the headline bothered me, but then I thought about it, and said that it doesn't matter. I think we have gotten the respect that we deserve from most fans in the state that have seen us play. None of it matters if we don't go on and win the state. If we don't win the state, no one will remember those shutouts, or what Edmiston has done, or the team. We will be a faded memory
