  1. Great high school game. Defenses dominated except for a couple of big plays. Came down to MBA not being able to convert in short yardage situations and missed FGs. MBA D line dominated and MUS linebackers were all over the field. Anyone there was treated to a tremendous game. Good luck to MUS vs BA. But I have to think that BAs running game can come alive. After all, they need to get a return for all the investments they have made through the years...
  2. After first Baylor drive, MBA line completely shut down the really good running backs from Baylor. Baylor D line played extremely well also. Tipton and Fitzgerald sacks, big stop by Hightower on a reverse, and an int by Shillinglaw were big plays by the D. Long pass in Q 3 from Howe to Cooper was big play on O. Baylor came to play and made it a heartstopper. O line must show up next week versus MUS, and they did not either in the 1st MUS game or last night. MUS air attack will score so MBA must get points and control the ball. Go Big Red!
  3. Snyder is back, probably will play. Tipton practicing this week, may play, may not-probably pretty rusty as he was hurt Day One of two a days . BGA always plays its best against MBA and has really good coaching, although I know they are young.
  4. From the MBA clan, you have our prayers for strength and hopes for a full recovery. May God be with her and family and friends.
  5. Hammertime- I did not hear the booing. If it happened, it should not have. As you surely know, however, C Flatt is not liked by a LOT of people, many of whom have played for him. He has a GREAT record but has obviously made many enemies. Maybe jealousy... The sign? I cant believe C Flatt let it stay up. It was a rallying point and I am amazed that anyone was surprised it came down. BA has great players, several of whom will play on Saturday. I have to say, BAs coaching staff seemed confused and seemingly never changed their tempo, even when falling behind. But I am sure they will be strong again next year. MBA played flawlessly. M Fisher had great game(22/26, 300+ yds.) but his receivers were unbelievable. And the defense, unsung all year, once again, largely shut down a very talented set of RBs, QB, and a huge o line. That was one great MBA TEAM!
  6. Just watched the film-replayed five times. Officials gave ONE FULL ADDITIONAL SECOND for the kick. No question about it. Watched with people with NO love for MBA. All agreed. Now I'll quit bashing the officials(who clearly deserve it) and talk about the great game each team played. Everyone needs to go out and support your HS team the next three weeks. It's gonna be great!
  7. That was one great football game. Congratulations to both teams. What a classic. Observations: Watch the tape. Why does the line judge walk toward the line of scrimmage just as BA is getting lined up. That never happens. It would seem HE thought the game was over. From what I understand, the TSSAA is looking into the game and the officiating team. I have not seen the Comcast game but from neutral observers(those who did not have a dog in the fight) said there was no question. Game over. Officials are not supposed to run around like headless chickens trying to get the ball down. They defininitely choked. The officials apparently also blew the "catch" in the end zone. (This come out of people in the end zone-BA fans) At any rate-these things happen. Officials screw up all the time, HS, college, and the NFL. And, MBA could have burned ten more seconds off the clock on third down before callin g time out. Officials whistle blew with 1:05 on clock and MBA called time out with 50 seconds left. But then again, BA might just kick on first down... I'm sorry the officials blew it but this is a game that will be cussed and discussed for 50 years. Congratulations to all who participated. It's what HS football is all about.
  8. PW06- Watch the film. The offensive PI call could not have been on the receiver catching the ball. Maybe was someone else. The receiver did not even touch anyone after passing the line of scrimmage. As for the inel man downfield on the throw to the one, it may be that the TE was covered by the wideout. Could not tell by the film. As for the field, can someone in Memphis say just how much rain memphis got in the days before the game. Apparently, the practice field was relatively dry and someone from near Memphis told me that it did not rain enough where he was to make a difference(an inch or so) so. Again, I thought it was a great game and the CB fans could not have been nicer to me(and I had a shirt with an MBA logo on it). The PA announcer was a little overly biased but what the heck.
  9. This was a great HS football game. A defensive struggle largely because the field was horrible. There was standing water on areas of the field even though the rain stopped in the morning?!? CB played very well and had several dropped passes. Their defense swarmed, did a super job of clogging up the middle, and their linebackers pursued well on the outside. The Brothers QB, who I knew was good, was much better than I expected. He had at least 3 and probably more dropped passes. The penalties that hurt CB were mostly procedures and one unsportsman-like conduct where a fist was thrown... MBA was hurt by penalties. An ineligible man downfield(ALL 5 linemen were protecting the QB- look at the film) call prevented an MBA score(would have had it at the one) and an offensive pass interference call (could not see any PI on the replay-I may be wrong but it looked like a dreamed up call). You had to be there to understand how bad the field was. For such a nice facility that CB has(and it was really great with a lot of tailgating, super nice fans, beautiful campus) the field was a big negative surprise. Footing was horrible and definitely hurt both offenses. Lot of non CB Memphis fans were there. Many were strongly complaining about the officiating throughout the year. I must add that I saw one particular officail at half time hugging, shaking hands, and generally yukking it up with several people. I may be wrong but at a game I think it looks awfully suspicious to have the refs yukking it up with the fans. It makes you wonder and is at least bad form. Net net-on a sloppy nasty fields the linemen (and officials) will tell the tale. On this night MBA gutted it out and got a well deserved win over a great CB team. TSSAA-Some of your officials are getting bad names. I understand judgement calls but do any of you look at film?!??
  10. Redtwin-Be careful about those bets. Your Daddy just might send you back to the Hens(Blue) that is. You can run but you can't hide. MBA needs to come out with fire in their eyes. After the game last year, the BGA players were saying that the MBA boys were weak and were afraid to hit. I hope the first few series MBA really gets after them and then pours it on. The BGA boys really think they are tougher than the Big Red.
  11. About the air horn-like blowing a whistle during a high school basketball game. That ain't allowed. You had to be there to understand. Everything else was great. And Trinity's quaterback did, in my mind, live up to billing. He was just under big pressure the entire game and still got over 400 yds passing.
  12. The tailgating-MBA knew Trinity has the reputation of "taking over" compuses(that is why the pre-game party started at 2:00 according to Brad G) and should have controlled the parking next to the field. I saw nothing wrong at all with this since they just did what anyone else would without restriction. The horn-probably one of the worst displays of sportsmanship I have ever seen. The officials shold have penalized Trinity. That would have stopped it. I wonder why the coached did not demand it. Things like horns cause fights and are unacceptable. I can tell you this, if anyone did this on the MBA side they would have it placed in an appropriate place-where it couldnt be heard. Trinity-great tradition, great team, great fans, don't let some moron spoil your reputation. Good luck rest of year.
  13. TRinity clearly not as good as hyped at this point in season. Quarterback is very good but MBA defense had him running for his life. Defense kept Trinity from scoring after offensive miscues(punt snap over punters head and interception). MBA was clearly more athletic. Will be surprised if Trinity wins 8 games this year, unless the competition is weak(and I doubt it). NET-NET-Good opening game for MBA. Great coaching scheme. Jeff Rutledge is a deserving guy and he deserves a Sports Illustrated story(not a cover please!!!). If MBA gets overconfident, they will be rudely awakened. This was the first game against a rebuilding team. Go Big Red!
