My score exactly Anyone with football knowledge has to respect coach Thompson but ---- I think Smyrna throws a lot more things at you on offense ands plays a more modern brand of offense. now defense is a different story you never hear of lc not having a good defense especially up front.

I agree to some extent but if you are told over and over how good you are and how little chance another team has against you it would be humanly impossible not to let some of that not sink in. If anybody as a player on riverdale is hearing that they better be tuning it out and it sounds like from what you say they are. Riverdale is better and should win but this is not the world series one bad quarter can send you home. If riverdale and smyrna both play like they did the 1st half last week they will meet again------------------------------------------in the stands at lincoln county the following week!

you actually made a pretty valid observation. one that allowed me to make a point to the lc poster so far on this thread it has been pretty much opinions on how each side thinks the game will go granted all the ones from lc are wrong but still informative. dont usually see your post or respond but since I saw this one and it does concern football and not trash I will reply. I think lc matches up better with riverdale than they do smyrna. Not a slam against riverdale but it is a fact riverdale likes to play smash mouth and run at you. That is lc's bread and butter and why riverdale did not put up huge points. Even coach adeylott would tell you that his offense is designed for ball control and controlling the tempo. Smyrna on the other hand as you know will go 4 and 5 wide spread the field and try to get their athletes in open space. When you have mis matches this allows for more opportunities to score points and that is why I think Smyrna has the chance to score more points because that is how smyrnas offense is set up to score quick and score a lot. A college game with a perfect example of a bad match up was app state at michigan. Michigan had better players all over the field but just did not match up well.

All of lc stats were against very weak region 3 teams while smyrna played 3 teams presently in the top 10 brentwood academy/riverdale/wilson central according to coach t here is the schedule strength lc -- 61st smyrna -- 8th the most telling stat is blackman a team that finished last in region 4 ( the coach t standings are wrong blackman lost to oakland so this makes them last) beat lc at the pit 14 to 0 Smyrna is balanced on offense and has to much team speed for lc to handle Smyna 35 lc 14 as always it will be interesting to see how lc will cover rod? cookevile sold out to stop him and bryson had a huge night. you are correct!! Still a pretty good night though. Bryson is going to be special before he gets out of there. His older brother (class o6) has the bench press record at shs and is a work out freak so I expect him to put on 15 to 20 pounds by his senior year and if he does while keeping his speed he will be a div 1 type back. Last week was his break out game he now has over 900 yards and is close to be 100% healthy. If lc decides to play a nickle package and double and triple rod he has shown he can get it done. great observation some cup cakes in the 1st round but from here on out it is bring your A game or go home Every play every mistake every turnover and also every call against you is magnified and the tension and the mental toll it takes to stay sharp is tough and experienced teams know what to expect.

not having experienced a loss you may not be aware but most teams that lose to a team always would like another shot at them. This is not just riverdale, I would bet if you asked Smyrna players they would ahve loved to have had another shot at lebanon this week. but you are right no one really cares who you play to get there but if you can play at team that beat you and get a win it is all the better. Ill be honest after the lavergne game they are not a team I would want to see again this year. History shows that it is hard to beat a good team twice.

I think there is an excellent chance they will catch them and I will personally see about offering a reward for information leading to these low lifes if not. I do take this seriously and the post you saw was responding to someonne (not from cookeville) that started posting a bunch of non sense that never occured. The bad thing is it takes away from any discussion about the players that played the game.

Smyrna wants to play riverdale again. I am not so sure riverdale wants smyrna again though. Somebody with 2 post both about riverdale games and you can read the tea leaves a declare them from smyrna. My bet is somebody from wc or mj by their screen name. Better focus on wc they are playing well right now and while you guys beat them fairly easy earlier we both know how that can work out. They are loaded with seniors and I just get a sense of confidence in them. Wc is by far the most dangerous 3 seed in the state.

Smyrna couldn't have asked for a better game to get them preparred for lc cookeville while not exactly the same is similar in they like to power run the football. Smyrna heard all last week how cookeville was going to pound smyrna running the ball and we would not be able to match them physically. This lead to the toughest inside drills at practice I have seen since I have been here, they were brutal and apparently they helped cookeville after the 1st qtr had 7 straight possesion where they went 3 and out and had a net gain of 4 yards. Smyrna has all the respect in the world for lc and knows from experience last year that you have to get better and play better every week or you will go home.

cookeville did pretty much by tripling rod at times and playing to stop the pass. Wilkes 3 catches 1 td 2 words jeremiah bryson 178 yards and 3 tds on 20 carries (17.8) per carry - he is now a seasoned vet and not a freshman as he was in the regular season. The dressing room was locked as someone noted on another post and smyrna hired extra officers for this game. But once again if you have an axe to grind against smyrna you get to take shots. The doors were secured Extra officers were hired This has not been a recurrng problem. Smyrna has this under investigation by the law enforcement Smyrna has apologized and I am sure will do so more formally monday. As LOD said this was done by some low life thugs and they will be caught. No one associated with Smyrna high school adminisration,athletics or players ( they dress in the locker room by the field no where near the visitors). had anything to do with this. I can assure you the coaches and the administration of smyrna high school will respnd to this. I know they were very un happy about it. However it is saturday morning and both schools are out I would imagine there will be some contact rom smyrna monday. No one from the administration will repsond on coach t it will be principal to principal. Once again as someone very involved with Smyrna hs as the QB club president I have and continue to apoloigize to everyone from Cookeville fro the actions of an individual or a small few that had rather steal from olthers than earn it themselves. I am sure smyrna will look at what can be done to make sure this never occurs again. I t has never happened here before either

region 4 wins 3 of 4 and the region 4 4th seed losses to the number 1 region 3 seed by 3 points on the 1 seeds field I would say region 4 showed its dominance last night and of the 16 5a teams left 3 are from region 4. region 4 number 2 on the road at region 3 number 1 next week so I guess we will see how it goes. hard to believe lebanon lost 5 of their last 7

It took smyrna about a half to adjust. after cookevilles score in the 1st qtr smyrnas defense held them to 7 straight 3 and outs with net total of 4 yards and they only crossed mid field once after that. smyrna also had the ball on cookevilles 12 with just under 2 minutes to go and running at will ( they were still double and trippling rod) and took a knee. I wanted our senior rb (sanders) who waited 3 years to start only to have a freshman sensation take the job get a chance to score but I can understand not wanting to run it up. back to my point -- smyrna could have made it 35 to 10 and everyone would have said they dominated at 28 to 10 is just a respectable game. must be weird to be 11 and 0 undefeated in the region and win a playoff game 28 to 7 and have to defend yourself sort of silly when you think about it.

I hope the PIT is full and rocking this friday when smyrna visits it is what football is about! For some reason smyrna thrives on the road and has not lost a road game in the last 2 years. I think a lot of that has to do with they are more of a business type team not a lot of rah rah stuff but when they get on the road and get the visitors treatment it seems to get them hyped a little more. I hope the pit is full and loud and I hope lc's players say a few things to smyrna before the game to get them going.
