  1. Tennessee High School officiating is one of the last occupations in the world that has to answer to no one. So what if they miss a call, there's no discipline for them if they don't. College officials are graded on each week's performance and if there's a problem, there are consequences, but not for TN high school officials.
  2. Austin Peay played a very good game today but came up short losing to Jacksonville by a score of 33-26. It was the best we've seen them play all season. The game was tied with about 90 seconds left...just couldn't keep them out of the endzone. Still a very good game overall. Way to go GOVS!
  3. I'm hoping with the addition of scholarships more emphasis will be put on the football program as it has in basketball. There are some quality players on the team and they are very young but in order for them to get better, more of the youngsters must be on the field.
  4. We've seen them play every game but the Drake game. They seem to be still trying to find the right combination of players. That seems reasonable with such a young football team. If they can hang in there and start the recruiting process, they are sure to see success.
  5. The way I understand it, 30 scholarships 2006 and back to the OVC 2007.
  6. The young Govs played very hard. It hurt went linebacker #35 went down...hope his injury is not a bad one. He's a very good, experienced player. You could tell this was Charleston's 2nd game and our first. If Austin Peay keeps working hard and improving they should be okay. Mistakes and penalties came in to play.
  7. We won't be leaving till after our high school game tonight. So it will be a long night. But that's okay..looking forward to watching the Govs play tomorrow!
  8. We're headed to West Va Friday night! Hopefully there won't be any gas shortages! Looking forward to watching the Govs play
  9. Catfish-hunter, hope you're right...a win would be good for this young bunch!
  10. I agree, being young now will pay off later. Looking forward to watching this team mature!
  11. And you didn't even mention all of them (running backs).
  12. Did see them on Monday...they looked pretty good defensively...a few miscues on offensive (bad snaps) especially with 2nd team. Overall they looked pretty good considering they are so young.
  13. LadyEaglesFan, Cunningham is playing 2nd team offensive. You can read details of their scrimmage held yesterday at www.apsu.edu..then go to Athletics.
  14. Has anyone heard anything about Friday's scrimmage? Anxious for any news...
  15. Congrats Warren...way to show Region 25A how to play football! Enjoy your win!
  16. Sorry, LadyEaglesFan, I've not been able to watch them practice. If you go to apsu.edu and then to athletics, they've been posting updates about practice. They scrimmage this afternoon and again on Monday. If I hear anything about Cunningham, I will let you know.
  17. Catfish-hunter, do you plan to go? If so, please let us know how it turns out.
  18. Bigmon, know the rules and have a "schedule" of what they are doing. Can't be there to watch, was just hoping someone was that could give us updates. Hoping for great things out of the Govs..
  19. Austin Peay goes in full pads today. If anyone in the area gets a chance to see them practice, please post info as some of us are very interested in how they are doing.
  20. Austin Peay football players are to report on Friday. Have any OVC schools started yet? Just wondering.
  21. Gotta pick the Yellow Jackets! Should be a good game.
  22. TSSAA rule states 3 days in pads before you can scrimmage. Both teams started practicing on Monday!
  23. Red Raiders started slow but ended up winning over Centennial 50-43. Keep up the good work. Go Big Red!
  24. Just wondering, has the family moved to Ooltewah?
  25. Sorry, after the recruiting by TTU, doubt they win the OVC...wasn't the last year they won it 1975?
