  1. My opinion so I'm sure it will upset some folks......but...in the A/AA brackets.... I do not know exactly how this gets set up, but a quick glance at the brackets makes it look like the TSSAA has guaranteed themselves an opportunity to get a public school into the finals (that helps keep R Cater from getting too many phone calls!).....(and this is where some folks are going to get testy!...but hey its an opinion..everyone has one!) where I am confident they will get spanked by one of 3 or 4 private schools......my guess is the real contest is going to be in the quarters or the semis.....a combination of seeding and draw would make sense...at least to me.....the right side of the brackets has to be giddy with glee!

    CAK

This is off-subject, but I was at the state golf championships this week and I could have sworn there was a "Novikoff" kid ( a young man" playing...would that be a brother of the stnadout forward for CAK???? If so, obviously a gifted athletic family!
  3. CHS....do you get it at all??? Sooner seemed to be miffed because I was rooting for someone other than FHS (imagine !!!) and I was happy for Ravenwood and the players I know there last night!..and you...well I guess you'r either mad because you're team lost (no effect for me either way...in fact I know a few of your players, like them and have spoken highly of them)...or you're irritated over our last exchange....generally the tactic of the person who cannot express themself is to try to slam the person they are exchanging words with....it is usually much more effective to understand the subject and comment succinctly on it! I am sorry to see Jamie, Tessa and Anna end their season, but excited for them as they move on to the next level! Best wishes to the 3! Have a good day CHS....you need to find a little joy in life!
  4. Wow...Soonerfan...what an erudite, brilliant, insightful and intuitive statement!!! I'm sure we'll all get a great deal from your missive. From your comment, I guess I am not allowed to pull for one team over another .... my mistake....... I don't think anyone is confusing FHS and FRA!
  5. FRA has to get out of the District first....CPA will come to play tonight....and if last night taught us anything in Middle Tennessee it is that you better bring it every game in the tournament.....today there are a couple of very good teams that are done for the year!
  6. This should be a big game with a lot of emotion, but why would anyone believe "Franklin will come out stronger"??????That implies (after losing round 1 that Franklin didn't really come out to win....I don't believe that...or are you saying that Franklin didn't care about winning the first game??? If so, why didn't they come out a strong as possible for such a big rivalry game.....shoot for any game! I hate it when people lose a game and then imply they weren't really up to play a game or they were emotionally drained from a previous game, etc......And I saw the 2nd goal (not the first one) at Round 1....no one's starting or back up goalie stops the 2nd goal! I hope both teams come out with their best "clean" game ......and I don't have dog in the fight (I use "fight" advisedly) but I'm pulling for Brentwood to send Franklin home for the season ...good luck Bruins...and I hope you all come out healthy....always a concern
  7. FRA went on an 11-0 run thru the tourney last year and scored 49 while giving up 0 goals.....
  8. Hey....the topic is "Girl's soccer"!.....let's get thru this season before we queue up the smack talk for the guys!!!
  9. MY biggest issue with low scores is the over whelming effect of a PK or even a free kick in a closely played struggle....especially when the penalty is called from 60 yards away by a trailing referee. I would prefer to see the goal widened by 2 feet and raised by a foot. I think this would change a lot of 1-0 and 1-1 games to 4-5 games....this would increase scoring and it might diminish the effect that a foul (or non-foul) in the box might have on an evenly played game....I hate to see 2 teams play their hearts out for 88 minutes to see one team walk away with the win based on some aggressive play close to the goal in the last 2 minutes....some of that will always happen, but it's harder to "blame a loss'"on a single PK if the score is 6-7
  10. I'd like to see "both" teams empty their bench....Teh game is decided, there is nothing to be gained from this....let the back benchers get some playing time....
  11. I don't see any hard cold facts in your quote....go back and re-read your missive it starts out implying that CHS might not win because they might not get up for the game....the exact quote was "the Cougars could have an emotional letdown which would certainly give FRA a chance" ......you say nothing about FRA being able to compete on an even basis...this implies that it would take a let down to give FRA a chance...that is what I questioned and based upon some comments it sounded like that was where some of CHS was coming from. I don't think there are any issues between these sets of players and I thought I was complimentary of several of them...not sure what your beef is? CHS is very good, but they were not any better than FRA on Monday...we all know where the scoring came from...and how the score ended up 2/2....if CHS was not happy with the tie, I can assure you that FRA wasn't happy with it. Let's leave it at this....it was a tie, both teams have serious challenges going forward to state....what is really important!!! ...maybe, if they play next year...the tie will help to motivate everyone! As I said, the Public Private debate goes on daily in the other section....the issues get hammered over there all the time.
  12. I was there, I saw the game.....pitching the "we won't be fired up" excuse before the game demeans both squads....some may say differently but I don't think CHS can blame a tie in this game on a mental let down....looked like they gave what they had...they should have been happy with the tie......certainly FRA was not.... As for the public vs private debate ....it goes on over in the other area, every day....and yes, size does make a difference....let me give you an example....the school, has approximately 140 boys (total in 9 thru 12)...now you spread those potential players across baseball, soccer, track and tennis...then you add a 1.8 multiplier for classification .....now don't tell me size doesn't matter! by the way Centennial has some very good players and some of them have a lot of class....I enjoyed the soccer I saw played...
  13. Obviously I think there are a few better defenders....certainly One's I would put on my team...but that's why it is all opinion....all the one's listed are good players
  14. Anna is a great girl...one of my daughter's fav's (although she is not nuts about playing against her )....but my pick off Centennial is Jamie Trocino.....she makes Centennial a contender (and does it with class).....as a few of us believe....."offense makes headlines, defense makes winners" !!!!!!...and for obvious reasons FRA's Number 3 is number one on at least Flash's Dream Team!
  15. So the Notre Dames, BA's, BGA's, FRA's.....they just do it with smoke and mirrors ???

    CAK

Its a guess....and I am NOT trying to start a war.....my guess is it could be any of the following......DCA, CPA, Lipscomb, or FRA......I'm sure someone else may have a better idea on this!

    CAK

Yeah...they lost...what does that have to do with the quote?
  18. Some great players.....but I think you mean the "AAA Dream Team" You missed some!!!
  19. I hope you're not saying that the only way FRA wins is an emotional meltdown by Centennial??? Centennial has been a little Schitzy this season with some unexpected letdowns, but lately they have seem to be playing at the level that I heard was expected in pre-season. On paper Centennial should have the advantage over the small private school. Everyone knows Coach Mac like to schedule some tough pre-tournament competion prior to the tournament....but you never know what his coaching plans....sometimes he holds his team back on purpose???? I'm sure there will be some good soccer....a lot of these girls know each other (this is one where there is a healthy amount of like and respect....as compared to some of the other rivalries around the area!!!! )
  20. FRA had agame like you describe earlier in a district game. The game was called at half due to weather, but the coach packed all the players on one side of the half line and basicaly forbid anyone to cross midfield. It didn't work FRA won 2-0 but it was pretty frustrating....I think for both teams of ladies!!!
  21. Kudos to Hixson, but I think ND should stay right where they are......for now!!?? Kinda like boxing...you have to win to knock off number 1! But everything starts for real on Oct 16...all this other stuff is just warm up!
  22. I'm happy to listen to intelligent conversation. Generally intelligent conversation involves just that. If you'll re-read my input I simply pointed out just a few of the flaws (I left out some direct specific issues...and no these did not effect my child directly, but observed them effecting others) .of something that should be a real positive.....It also seems my issues are not alone...several others seem to have some issues with ODP perfection.....cakes, the problem I have with your other comments (other than the pitiful veiled shot in the last round ) is that you do not seem to grasp that I was pointing out that it could and should be improved. Based on the things you have cited so far, it does not sound much better. Your statements that we are so much better than other states are 1. unsubstantiated with any facts, and 2. of no concern...we're talking about Tennessee. Now just one simple example...without going into several others. You cite that club coaches do not coach their own age group......I have seen a club coach who coached a younger age group.....load the ODP team with members of his "old team" when coaching an older ODP bracket....that blows a lot of the credibility....particularly with the players. Maybe it does not happen anymore, but (now pay attention) if we removed club coaches from the mix and went to only college coaches or brought club coaches from out of state it would be better for all. I thought part of the good was supposed exposure to the best players and new coaches that the kids might not have had before. Recycling old club coaches doesn't do that......now that is intelligently discussing an item and not attacking anyone personally... ...someone else started the personal attacks with a snipe regarding sour grapes from disgruntled parents....that is simply digressing not effectively pointing out the pros and cons of the issue. Also I don't know of anyone that defines a few as being 40% plus of anything. Cakes.... you seem to be infinately aware of every issue in ODP...is it perfect or are there some minor issues that might be tweeked to perfection???????? Or is is easier to focus on the messanger rather than the message? Just for reference, I do not know or care who cakes is/was/would be.....I was simply trying to get a discussion on what I see as flaws in ODP....not anything personal, but I expect reason in the missive....I certainly hope that no one believes they can intimidate me by identifying me...I stand by what I say on here and I am not afraid to be identified with what I post!
  23. yeah, I figured out what you're saying and the bold is not the only thing you messed up in your missive....you are so wrong about so many issues in your missive it is not worth the time or effort to point them out.....good luck with your ODP and club coaching......you need it.
