  1. yea thats when they had Brandon, Im talkin about right now, and BW does not play for brentwood.
  2. The war Eagles bench could beat the grizzles, nobody can compete with the War Eagles in tennessee.
  3. The Grizzles have one of thw worst attitudes ive ever seen, we played them a few years ago and they had 4 t's and 3 players ejected, and I mother who called out are coaches and said they cheated and told us to go back to Alabama. We had only 1 player from Bama. Our team has only tow players from out of state, and the rest are in town and go to nashville private and public schools.
  4. I just heard that Lipscomb Bearcats (Joe Simpson's team 16-U) won Spring Fling in a 2:00 game.
  5. Wil Levister from Dresden has a great 3. He hit shot from foul line opposite end to beat Bradford in January at the buzzer.
  6. Father Ryan beat the MBA Frosh 18-14 (MBA had not played in three weeks though and look very rusty from the layoff). MBA later beat McCallie without runningback Patrick Crum then went on to lose to an undefeated Lebanon squad in the final seconds 40-35, at Lebanon. Crum scored ran for nearly 300 yards against Lebanon and scored five touchdowns. MBA has one of the stronger freshman teams in the area as they finished 6-2. What they lacked in size was made up with speed, quickness, toughness and determination.
  7. To all the high schoolers...for several years, the current diluted state of Tenn high school football, has led to a growing lack of interest among the general public. Henceforth, the thought comes to mind, (with apologies to Al Davis), "TSSAA Football - Commitment to Empty Seats". The "split" and the resulting subdivisions has all but ruined high school football competition in Tennessee. It has served the Gary Rankins of the state at the expense of the sport statewide. The Riverdales and the Trousdale Counties can crow about their so-called "State Championships" all they want, but the older generations just snicker because these "State Champions" are just Division Champions. I can buy small school State Champions and large school State Champions or even A, AA, AAA State Champions. But as long as it stays in its current diluted state, it is closer to youth league competition than college competition. So as long as it stays this way, I and tens of thousands of others will stay home and watch college football on TV.
  8. That "victim mentality" may gain a politician votes in an election, but it doesn't play well in the private school culture...like the privates are printing money so they can construct better facilities, hire better coaches and buy sharper uniforms and the best equipment. Oh give me a break. My son just finished his freshman football season at a private wearing a uniform the varsity wore five years ago. They wore plain helmets with no logo, unlike all the public school teams had. Heck, Gallatin looked like the Green Bay Packers. And his team didn't even have its own practice field. They practiced in the outfield of the baseball field. But we're not complaining; just working hard and winning.
  9. The inference of the above statement is that the older the fact, the less likely it is to be true. Does the fact that Christ's statements found in the Bible about the heavenly father, made some 2,000 years ago, are not true because they're old? I don't follow your logic.
  10. Lebanon beat mba's freshman team 40-35, they scored with 30 seconds left. The MBA tailback Patrick Crum(white kid) had 5 touchdowns and 265 yards rushing in the defeat. The defensive tackle for MBA also was a terrior in the back field and had a big 4th down and 20 catch late in the 4th quarter to keep the drive going. Lebanon' s tailback is very good and had arouing 190 yards rushing 2 tds. His brother is the Qb and has a arm and is very athletic, he will probly play reciever in high school. Mba had them on their own 40 with 50 seconds left and they threw a 40 yard pass. Mba should of won, but lebanon made the big plays when they had too, gotta give them props. It was a heck of a game. Both programs will benifit greatly from these two classes in varsity next year and will bring in a state championship.
  11. MBA wins in double overtime over the blue tornadoes!!!!!!

    Aaron Douglas

I remember doing drills and catching footballs, and he would catch balls 1 handed with no effort at all and he was towering. I am 6'3" and he made me look small. I wish him the best of luck and hope to watch him in college.

  15. I'm told by reliable sources (coaches) that Riverdale's freshman team is loaded. Several good skill players. LB's are active. According to a varsity coach at Gallatin, MBA's freshman team is impressive. He said their tailback is very good and they are dynamic at tight end (big kid who can run). Also, hearing (from an East TN coach) that Alcoa's freshmen "look good". The rich just keep getting richer.
  16. I think you're right on target Neil. As a Middle Tennessean, I remember when I was in high school in Murfreesboro, TN in the early seventies (Oakland first, then Riverdale) there was a lot of "encouraging" going on by football coaches toward certain boys to attend their school. There was also some "monkey business" taking place as to which zone certain "student-athletes" maintained their actual residences. I haven't lived in M'boro since I was in college at MTSU, but I'd be nieve to think that it is still not going on today and in many other towns across the state. I saw it going on in Texas when I lived in Dallas in the eighties, too. What's the definition of "recruiting"? I don't have a dog in this hunt (or a child at Brentwood Academy) but it appears to me that all this envious hatred toward the privates from the publics stems from Carlton Flatt's success in football at Brentwood Academy. As a society, I think splitting the schools along public / private lines in the athletic arena is a big mistake. I think it's petty in nature and I think it sends all the wrong messages to our children. "Recruiting" takes place at all levels of life in all areas. To split our athletic leagues over recruiting issues is rediculous. Because if and when they are divided, recruting will still be with us even on the public sector. What are those coaches going to want to do, then???
  17. Nevill's statements are so off the chart it's difficult to see how she became a member of one of the largest boards of education in the country. They made her appear uninformed and delusional, and cast herself, the board and the school system in a very bad light. What's even scarier is that there are probably a significant number of Metro teachers and school administrators who agree with her. Her points of view help me understand why so many of the Metro schools are performing so poorly, as proved by the test scores published in that same feature article.
  18. I know the Browns from when my son played with Andy Brown on a travel baseball team. Coach Brown is a first class guy with character. The accusations that are being leveled against him are not consistent with the man I know him to be. This makes the parents of the 18 kids who quit look bad. So many times today, parental preceptions of the athletic capabilities and skills of their children are grossly inflated. This is often the case at a small school, like Harpeth, where the universe of athletes is relatively small. I feel for what Coach Brown and his family are going through. People talk; it's just a matter of time before the small people, in this small town, who are perpetrating such poor behavior are known to the rest of us. Shame on them.
