Should be a good one, CC always plays tough in the Souper Bowl. I remember the last game up there they played well against a tough JC team with Jeff, Scoot and Parker leading it. Early touchdown by Mr. Jennings kinda took the wind out of the sails but I digress. Correct me if Im wrong but wasnt last year the game that had a questionable call on an extra point by Coach U that sort of cost us the game? That was when I started to doubt him, and events since then havent done much to make me a fan. But again I digress. Dont know what kind of team CC has this year but this is an important game for the season for both teams Id imagine.

This was the first West/Jeff game I have missed in about 8 years. Sounds like it wasnt too bad of a game, but I just didnt think it would be up to the caliber of the past few games. There is a few things Id like to address. First of all I take my hat off to the kids that didnt jump, the 20 something kids that stuck with the team and didnt quit. I dont blame Shiverdecker for leaving, but thats another discussion. Jeff Co should use this year as a learning experience and come back and shock some people next year. With some size gains McFall, Long and the other kids could do good things. Its amazing what 2 wins for JCT will do for the amount of trash talk, on CoachT and in real life between the two sides. Not trying to put you guys in your place or anything just giving you some advice, but OT50 and crums18 just watch what you say even if its to each other. Just keep it about football and put your foot in your mouth over anything. Just tryin to keep you out of trouble. And I REALLY REALLY REALLY hate to even comment on this but I feel like I have to defend my Jungle. The allegations that our kids would disgrace the memory of a fallen player makes me want to vomit. I realize that what was chanted could be misconstrued as something else but I can assure you it wasnt. Most of the kids in the student section at the time werent even aware of the loss. So thats all I will say about it, if we had lost one of ours and the situation was reversed I would be saying the same thing you West fans are but I promise it wasnt that. Good Luck to Jeff Co this year, use this as a lesson and maybe you kids can pull the rug out from under somebody.

Bud, Waco, Fart, good to see you guys are still alive and kickin. Good luck to your boys tonite, doesnt sound like DB will be as strong as in the fast few seasons but still a DB team none the less. They should handle Elizabethton as long as there isnt a Witten lining up across from the DB kids.

I didnt see the Rhea Co. game but I did see the DB game, we tried to pass the ball and we could have called middle screens, flat screens, bubble screens, draws whatever, if there is an UNBLOCKED defensive back or linebacker rushing the quarterback with extreme prejudice every time he drops back to pass there is only so much you can do. Ben had absolutely NO TIME in the pocket. Ben is doing a great job as I have said, but Cocke Co. and Dobyns Bennet are not anywhere near each other in talent. To say that Ben had success against Cocke Co. so he should do it against everyone is both unfair and ridiculus.

You obviously know nothing about JC football if you are talkin like that. Meadows runs the Wing-T, which relies HEAVILY on having a strong backfield, Im not talkin about a good running back, WE HAVE THAT, Im talking good tailback, good full back, and a seasoned QB not to mention a WR to throw to. Dont get me wrong Ben has done an awesome job but he couldnt have done better than Parker Jeff Scoot and Tyler did last year with this team. Look at Meadows at William Blount, they are calling for his head on a stick, they returned almost every starter from last years playoff team, and gained a strong player in Aaron Carson, and they are 0-5? Explain that. Meadows is a good coach and a great man, but alot of the success if not all of it last year should be credited to the young men that are Freshmen in college this year. Thats it, plain and simple.

Oh no doubt my friend, he has done a great job so far, 5 games in. Just look at the man he replaced Meadows is 0-5 at William Blount. Shocking numbers to me (and apparently every WB fan). All the naysayers didnt give this team a chance (myself included in that group), but it looks like the Pats should win out and get into the playoffs yet again.

Down the road, if they are needed Id like to see kids like Luther, Acuff, Yeary and others play both ways a lot. I know its demanding but I think they could make an impact if someone else doesnt step up. We do have a good team this year but I wouldnt call it top 10 in all of 5A, thats a little much dont you think? Top 10 in East TN yes but not all of the state, thats a bit of a stretch. Right now we are maybe third in East TN behind DB and Oak Ridge. I dont see Karns giving us any trouble this time, I look for Pewitt to have a breakout game Id like to see him have 10-15 completions because Karns will be looking to stop the run.

Yeah I can remember Desmond comin off the field mad and slammin his helmet, screamin and everything, CLASSIC but thats just him he is firery all the time, and he used it to the advantage most of the time. Most times he went off he had a Coach in his face right after he did whatever he did, he would have done it if Tom Landry was the coach he doesnt care, thats what makes him Desmond thumb . From players I talked to, most of them respected Meadows and I wouldnt say that he put the fear of God in them but he could put someone in their place if he needed to. It sounds like Coach U definetly has more of a military style of discipline.

Nothing funnier than an irate Skwerl. You have to remember that these high school kids are just that, they are kids. The reason there was a big team last year is the majority of the kids that chose to go out knew it was gonna be a great team and they saw what the previous years team had done with a great run. But then Meadows leaves and all those kids that had no business playing in the first place quit. The way I look at it, the fat have been trimmed from this years team, (including one VERY big peace of fat last week). So like my young friend Skwerl said, its quality over quanity, atleast you know these kids have on the uniform for the right reaons.

I had class with Billy when he was a skinny freshmen, the kid is a beast now. He is doing quite a job on the D-line, had a few good tackles at DB that I saw. Id like to see him playin some tight end though, really think he could be an asset in the passing game later in the season when Ben settles down more.

Strong words, but dont risk your CoachT voice, bet something good like if Cocke CO drops 28 you will show up intoxicated to the next game. I jest, I jest. Should be a fun one for the Dumplin Valley gang, Im still debating on wether or not to come home for this one or not, Ill be in town for the other big homecoming of the weekend, UT's that is.

Come on Fart you gotta come harder than that, the Jeff Co Cocke Co game is an old "rivalry" if you could call it that. We are neighboring counties and you cant drop a game like that. This game is prolly alot like DB vs. Sullivan South. All the JCHS fans can remember all the "friendly scurmishes" we have gotten in with Cocke Co over the years, seems like those haggard mountain folk always wanna fight. I know JC4Life will remember my boy Dusty Frizzans hittin dude in the head with a helmet in a fight on the sidelines his senior year. CLASSIC

I hate to keep this thread going any longer but, yes this team has proved me wrong, I had major doubts about this years group since the beginning of last year after I saw what JCHS would be losing. But wether it be Coach U or just the heart of the boys they have proven me wrong and I love it. No matter what Coach U said about moral victories I think we can take this game and really build on it, a win against West and a good game against DB are definet bright spots in an early season. As far as state talk goes, we still have a LONG way to go before we can talk about that, we are a playoff team but I wouldnt punch a ticket to the Buro yet my friends. I have a hard time believing that, asking him to quit the team? I think not. Look at it this way, Drew would never had been in that situation if he was the better quarterback, he would be starting and this would have never happened, but Pewitt got the job and him and his family and whoever you are just cant take it.

DB wasnt lucky to win the game, I think it was more that both teams played on the same level, JC played better than expected, DB played worse than expected, but the better team came out on top. I just wish DB had played like that last year or in 2002 (the game where it spit snow at J Fred) in the playoffs, that would have been very interesting.

After the Rhea CO. game I was a skeptic, but after the win against Mo West and an admirable effort in Kingsport I have to give him all the credit in the world. I thought Meadows did a great job in his two years in the JCT, but this makes me wonder what Euverard could have done with the team that had Jeff Jennings, Scooter Houston, Tyler Brown, and Parker Clement. I think the Wing T was the perfect offense for last year's team but maybe all it took was the coaching style / magic that Euverard seems to have this year. I dont know the whole situation with Bowlin's leaving / getting kicked off the team but it sounds like Coach just doesnt take only bull. I think Bowlin will regret his decision and actions and try to get back on the team or wish he didnt do what he did. Once again, hats off to my boys, they played good and should be proud of themselves. DB may not have played their best game but they didnt play their worst game, I think the Patriot D just showed up more than they expected. JC4Life, I was right in front of the pass to Crouch in the 4th, the ball was a good yard behind him, he would have had to make a spectacular catch to haul it in, and the one on the slant hit him in the foot, Ben threw before Crouch even cut on the slant because he was about to get crushed Dallas would have had to make a great catch.

No doubt, thats what my boy patriotghost79 said, (thats not what i call him in person, just didnt wanna use his real name ) You know who I am JC4life, you shoulda hollad at ya boy, I still cant figure out who you are. Another thing I noticed about the game, DB was bringing the perfect blitzes it seemed like on pass plays, especially towards the end of the game. Whether it was a linebacker or defensive back, they got untouched rushes on Pewitt more than once. My hats off to the DB defensive coordinator. A tip of the cap to Ben Pewitt too, it was a rough game he needs to take this game and build on it for the future, him and Shiverdecker will do big things the rest of this year and next year.

Well I didnt roll into J Fred Stadium until right before halftime (pregame festivities took longer than anticipated ) , but what I saw I was proud of my boys, they fought hard but were simply overmatched. The secondary did their containing Williams to short catches, I think the longest completion Ferguson made that I saw was about 15 yards. Yeary had a good game, and so did Smiley, what did the DB faithful think of Smiley, if the kid was a foot taller and a little heavier he would be all time, he has the heart of a champion. Overall good effort, we played a good game, just not the perfect game needed. Congrats to DB, I wouldnt mind if yall finally got the Art Vandalay off your back and won state.

Good addition to what I said, I forgot about Trey Reliford he has done some good work this year too. Ive got my Dale Jr poncho ready fresh from K-Mart. Once you get off the exit and turn left you cant miss the stadium and the lot, its literally on the road. Good luck to both teams and safe travel for everyone. I havent yet seen the boys in action this year but this is what I know. Jeff Co has never really been a pass heavy team and this year is one of the lesser passing teams. Last year's version had an excellent QB in Paker Clement and a high caliber WR in Tyler Brown. This year with the two headed QB thing (one of the heads no longer with the team) and no really stand out wide recievers I wouldnt look for too many passes. Shane Acuff is prolly the best we have but he has been playing corner too so I dont know how that will go. Shane ran some good routes last year but just couldnt seem to catch the ball. The last I heard Yeary was playing fullback and doin a good job, I dont know if anything has changed or not. We are scrimmaging mostly from the I Formation from what I hear, I think thats the best fit for this years squad, we definetly dont have the personel to run the Wing T of Scott Meadows this year. Its almost game time, hopefully it is raining too God awful hard.

I appreciate it my friend, I have no problem with DB and their fans, Fart, Bud and Skunk are good intelligent folk, but it seems some of the younger DB crowd needs a lesson in how not to be an idiot. The keys to the game will the play of the only JC offensive weapon Shiverdecker, and how much we can slow down the aerial assault.

Out of everything you said that is the truest part of it. That is why he is on the field and Drew will more than likely be watching with his dad in the stands. Ive known Ben since he was a youngster, even played on a few teams with him, had his mama in middle school. He is a leader on and off the field, and that my friends is the difference between him and Bowlin. Id like to see Red Dog have a good game. Is Billy Luther still playing tight end, if so have we been using him any this year? Good luck to Shane and his lil bro and the rest of the secondary, they got a huge job on their hands, hope you can step it up. Give em the ol 1 2 3 4 HIT THAT SON OF A..... tommorow night boys.
