  1. Brentwood should be much farther up there, is Bumbalough not top in three distance events. Baylor also isn't even on the list, even though Townsend would give them 10 according to rankings.
  2. Baylor....Look at the distance guys they have produced recently. Gifford, Strang, and now Townsend running a US #2 time.

4:06 and sub 1:50 are not equivalent either. Tons of athletes who run 4:06 can't go sub 1:50, in fact most of them can't. Webb went 3:52 and wasn't his 800 PR 1:48?

Bumbi is certainly the favorite for the 800, but he may try to lower the state 1600 record the day of state, and his 1:54 was in a race, Townsend ran his 1:55 all by himself in the windy rain, no pacer or competition. It suprises me Bumbalough doesn't run faster in the 800, with a 4:06 mile PR.
  6. Jordan may win some smaller meets, but when he's up against all of Chattanooga he's gonna get beat pretty bad by Scarborough, Townsend, Gadberry, and Bean.
  7. McGrath didn't run for TN, he was a national caliber runner. He now runs professionally in the Oregon project. Townsend ran 1:55.5
  8. That's ###### ridiculous; there's no way I'm running. Where the heck are we gonna run anyway, Brainerd is as urban as it gets. Let's use the Greenway. Cotton and the leaders of the CCCL should be ashamed.
  9. I'd be really suprised if there were 10 under 16. The way this year's talent is spread out I don't see much of a pack forming, and I think guys will end up being strung out, which is hard to run fast with.
  10. The best XC team in the state this year will be between Baylor, BA, and Houston. I think over all the years Houston has probably been the best. But then again Houston has much larger numbers than a lot of schools. I think McMinn has an excellent program although this year I dont see them beating Houston. For the amount of people they've got to work with, I think Baylor and BA are the best programs.
  11. What do you predict the top Chattanooga runners will run at optimist or state? Optimist Townsend: 15:20 Srivastava 15:47 Bean: 15:52 Scarborough: 15:58 Billengsly: 16:00 Longstreth: 16:11 Gadberry: 16:18 Glover: 16:20 Morgan: 16:30
  12. Who's the favorite for the individual title as well as the team.
  13. Work my way up to 80mpw, most of it offroad. Leg exercises every other day. Core and pull ups every other day. Starting in July 10x100s every friday.
  14. You can't name anyone who excels at just three running events. Andrew Bumbalough runs national caliber times in 3 distance events, excluding relays, and could probably run a 49 on the side. The kid is by far the most competetive runner in the state, without question; no one compares, no sprinters, no distance runners. Best all around I would say is Michael Bingham.
  15. Brentwood will walk all over everbody. They have Bumbi and another strong distance runner who i feel bad for running in Bumbi's shadow, then they've got tremendous depth in sprints. NO CHANCE
  16. 4:16 mile, that's a 4:14 1600, on an indoor track. No one can touch Bumbalough, not even Strang, not by a long shot. Bumbalough will get the state 1600 record easily with that time so early without competition and unevenly splitted, and that's mid-distance; distance is his strong point. He may get beat in the 800, but it won't be Strang who beats himl; he doesn't have enough speed. I heard from Denton that his PR in the 400 is 58, so that marks him out. I would bet on somebody just bigger and stronger to beat Bumbi in the 800, that MBA guy....Oliver.....someone with a Jamie Bach physique
  17. Anyone trying to beat bumbi is a fool. Denton could maybe get close but not racing like he did at region, he and Strang blowing up and running almost 5:20 last miles. Bumbi will just run over anyone racing so unevenly. I personally would think it selfish to race like that, going out in 9:40 for the deuce, at state because of the jeopardy it would put one's team in. But maybe with someone else to race with Denton will hit the splits more evenly than he did at Region having to run behind a fluctuating pace set by Strang, but as said before running so unevenly guarantees getting caught by the chase pack probably led by Press, Townsend, and Hultquist.

    Detente

I don't know about everyone else, but these Bradley, McMinn arguments are getting irritating and dominating the board. Every post somehow agitates the situation and evolves into a skirmish. I'm not demanding the teams end their rivalry, of course not, but instead asking to maybe adopt a detente relationship, as in the cold war. The teams can still rival, even hate each other, but on this board act together or at least cease arguments....
  19. Well maybe we aren't talking about Division II, but if D2 is included, the East Region is by far the strongest in the state. With previously nationally ranked Webb, followed closely by the Chattanooga city champions Baylor along with State Runner Up McCallie.
  20. Team Predictions: 1st. Baylor 2nd. McMinn 3rd. McCallie Individual Predictions: 1st. Oliver 2nd. Buckley 3rd. Srivastiva
  21. Cotton needs to learn a little bit more about Cross Country. His training philosophy is terrible for developing runners and doesn't even produce good times. First step would be reigning in his banshees the first 800m.................
  22. Coach Wetmore couldn't beat Jorge Torres, but I promise you he yelled at him. I think anyone not willing to give it his or her all deserves to be screamed at because everyone owes it to his/her team to push as hard as they can. Although I'm not a coach or a parent, I'm empathetic with them because it can be extremely frustrating to watch someone run without the passion that the rest of his team is running. Percy Surrotey, who coached Herb Elliot(never lost a race), would the day before his trainee's race run a mile as hard as he could, afterward saying, "You may run faster, but you'll never run harder" Respect is earned not by times but the amount of effort given. Someone streaking down the finish chute with a smile on his face gets nothing but disdain from me.
  23. There's no contest as long as Bradley goes out like banshees and die like sloths. McMinn will prevail at region, but at Optimist my favor is with Baylor.
