We just laying over here in the weeds, leave us be. LOL. 21 Seniors. If we going to make a run, this is the year. Only question marks I have is the secondary and wide receivers. We have to replace pretty much both units. Offensively, we have the potential to be very explosive. Return 4 Lineman I believe led by Hunter Justice and Will Deaton, QB Cole Kirk threw for 1600 yds and 19 TDs. RB Austin Scott ran for 1100 yds and 17 TDs. TE Mason Latham that is a big target and had 7 TDs. WR is the question mark? Defensively, will be led by All-State LB and 3 year starter Dru Yopp. Return most of the Dline led by Matt Cooper and Brandarius Strayhorn, 2 LBers, and none in the secondary. We had two good sized athletes that transferred from that other school in the county last year and had to sit out. I figure they will slot in at LB and DL on defense and they may play some TE. I wouldn't be surprised to see us in some multiple TE sets with them and Latham. We lost our kicker that could hit from 40+ last year but we have a soccer player that started working on kicking last year. He was hitting from around 30+ last year, so it will be interesting how far his range will be this year. If we can find a solid secondary, I believe we will be able to make a run at the Region and a deep playoff run. It's going to be tough but this year will be our best shot at it.

I'm pretty sure the spring sports lap over with the Boy's State basketball championship every year or almost every year. Not sure how often with the Girl's State Championship but I know it does with the boys.

14AA Championship McNairy over Chester Co 12-11

It is very possible that could happen. But you also got to look at Dyersburg finished 5th and out 6 teams and they will get the winner of this district in the region. Not saying that is an easy win for either McNairy or Chester because Dyersburg has started playing good ball last couple of weeks. McNairy was as good as any of the 4 teams that finished ahead of them and they split or played evenly games with all them in the regular season. They have not been consistent and underperformed for most of the year. Finally started putting it together the last couple weeks. The last 2 teams that were eliminated from the tournament and Chester Co were all put in the Losers Bracket by McNairy. So they have went through the meat of teams in the tournament. Now, Chester Co, I have said as long as Huntt is on the mound, they have a chance to win. They have surprised me in the games he hasn't pitched in the tournament. But, if you look at there games thr past few weeks, they have started hitting the ball and scoring runs. This time of year, especially in Baseball, it's about playing the best ball and who is putting good at bats together as a team.

I believed their pitching would carry them to at least the final 3. But, when you score 1 run in each game, bad things can happen.

Two teams from Region 7 will make it to State. No team from Region 8 will beat them in Substate.

I'm not shocked that Chester upset Northside but I am a little surprised they won 2-1. I thought if they were going to win, it would be in a shootout. McNairy and Scotts Hill was a back and forth extra inning slugfest. I know each team would like to have some plays back but it was an entertaining game with lots of opportunities for each team to take control of the game.

Yes sir, any night anyone could win. It's probably the homer in me, but I believe overall, McNairy is top 2 team in district with Scotts Hill. They blew quite a few district games this year. They have played in stretches. They play either really bad or really good. No in between. They are on one of those good stretches right now but that can change at any moment. But, if everyone is playing their best ball, I believe McNairy and Scotts Hill are the best two teams in the district. But, no matter how much talent you have, if you do not play at a consistent level, you can end up in the middle of the pack quickly and take some beatings.

It's like I posted going into the tournament, with Huntt on the mound, they got a chance to win any game they are playing in the tournament. He had a no hitter going into the 6th and his pitch count was in a good spot. I didn't see the game, but Top of 6th, it was 2-0 and Lexington starter pitch count was up there and Chester scored 6. They put some hits together with a walk and error mixed in. I also noticed this was Chester 4th win in a row after only winning 6 all year before this run. Best time of year to start playing your best ball. Be interesting to see them and Northside tonight.
