  1. Range, thanks for the scouting report. #23,and #1 seem to be outstanding players for Watertown. #55 and #45 not bad down low for them either. However I don't see the Falcons slowing the pace of the game down but they may actually ramp it up against the Purple Tigers who knows? Doubt anyone Watertown has played this year has the athletes and depth of Liberty, Dyer Co., Humboldt, Union City, Middleton, TCA and MAHS has. So I see LC playing their game. Range, wish you could get up to see the game because you would get to see a special PG in Zay Coleman. I am interested to see if 23 can hold up guarding him an entire game. Should be a great match-up. Devon and Justin need to play well in the paint and Raheem must bring that lockdown defense with him. Finally, I am interested to see if Watertown can match LC's uptempo style. MAHS tried to press and play uptempo with little success and actually quit pressing Zay about mid game. This should be a good one in the first game of the tourney Wednesday.
  2. Yes finally coming back to the world of the living!! Plenty of Lysol spray and washing!!LOL
  3. Lake County must show up and play well to get the W. Watertown didn't trip and fall into a 30-3 record. They are legit. Zay and Devon cannot get in foul trouble. They have to be on the floor for consistent minutes. also Rashaun, Dominique, Raheem, Justin and the role players must hit some shots to take the scoring pressure off the big 2. Same as always the Falcons have a slim margin for error and will need the continued effort and heart they have shown in the post-season to keep the dream alive.
  4. Not gonna roast you chipper, If you read my posts we actually sound pretty much the same. For LC to get it done against Humboldt, in my opinion, they must get some help out of other players besides Coleman and Jones. Last night Dominique, Darius Johnson and Rashaun Taylor all stepped up when needed to help get the win. As I said we both have got to get to the final first which will be no easy task.
  5. If he played another sport and has an athletic record for the previous year then the answer is yes based on athletic record he would be ineligble to participate for 1 calendar year.. Next, would be if the parents moved or they were able to get TSSAA to grant a hardship for some reason.
  6. If the student in question has not participated in ANY TSSAA sanctioned sport and therefore does not have an athletic record then they are eligible. If the student played any sport and has an athletic record they would have to sit out a year unless they have a bonafide change of address and the new school is not within the outlined perimeters of the private school as outlined in the TSSAA bylaws. Does not matter if they played the desired sport at the previous school or not for example if the student played baseball at the private school but not basketball then he is still ineligibe to play football, basketball etc. for 1 year even if he did not play those sports at the previous school. Unless he meets the mandated elgibility requirements. Hope that helps
  7. Bigster as I have said I feel Humboldt is the favorite in the tournament and was the best team in the district all year even though they lost to UC twice. They just have more length, are more physical and have more depth than the Tornadoes or anyone else in our distrcit. With that said history says they seem to struggle in the glass house. Inexperience may haunt their young team. I hope not because I want to play them one more time and see what happens on he big stage at a neutral site.
  8. Correction on the Commercial Appeal article in that Lake Co. did not forfiet 11 games only 4 wins. Player played in a total of 6 games but 2 were losses to Dyer Co. and Humboldt. The 4 wins were Middleton, Halls, Liberty and Trenton-Peabody. So as I said in another post the record would still only be like 12-19 without taking away the forfiets. This team is getting better and starting to gel. Young players stepping up. They got hot at the right time and earned the victory last night over a very good MAHS team. Viking as I have said Humboldt to me has been the best Single A team in West TN all year and their length gives us match-up problems. The thing is just like last night the experience of LC knowing what it takes to win on the big stage showed. I would like our chances IF we get one final shot at the Vikings but we both got some work to do before that happens. Good luck to you guys will be rooting for you until we meet up.
  9. The Falcons only had to forfeit 4 wins so their record would only be 12-19 with the games played. They struggled early in the year replacing 6 of their top 8 players from the state tournament teams of the last 2 years. Also played a difficult schedule with the likes of Dyer Co. (2 Times), Liberty, Middleton, TCA, Humboldt(4 times), Union City(3 times) Greenfield(3 times) etc. As far as the ineligible player goes cmacone was not Peabody or Lake Co. fault in the deal. Actually Lake Co. probably less at fault as they went on the address he used to become eligible and play at Trenton as well as the assumption that Peabody had made sure he met the criteria for being eligible before playing down there.
  10. The Range, nothing illegal here in LC. lost 6 of 8 seniors from last year's state tournament team and struggled throughout the year. The boys have stepped their game up and have become hot at the right time. Was a 7 seed in the district but beat 2 seed Greenfield in the first round of district. Finished 4th seed in the district then went to 1 seed Mckenzie and won then upset 2 seed Union City in the region semifinals. Now went on the road to Memphis and won a big substate game in 2 OT!! This team is young but has alot of heart and to GREAT players in Devon Jones and Zay Coleman. 3 straight years to the Boro under Coach Barger. Great job Falcons and coaching staff.
  11. Out West I am going with Humboldt and Lake Co. Yeah I am a homer but the Falcons seem to play their best in elimination games. They went on the road and beat #2 seed Greenfield in the first round of the district, then went on the road and beat #1 seed McKenzie in the first round of the region and finally eliminated a very good Union City team on a neutral court in the region semis. They have the athleticism to beat anyone when they play well as they have wins over Liberty, Union City , Middleton and Humboldt this year. Even though we must travel to Memphis I kinda veiw this as a nuetral court since we are not playing at MAHS. MAHS has a great fan base and will bring a big crowd but I feel LC will turn out for this one as well. Zay, Devon and Dominique have alot of experience on the big stage so I look for great games out of them. If LC can make some shots and stay out of foul trouble should get the W. I have said I feel this is a better match-up for my Falcons and feel we will see them play well tomorrow night. As for Humboldt I have said all year they are the best team in the NW TN area and are a threat to win it all. Bradford is legit and they have length and athleticism to give anyone trouble. Their biggest asset is how well they crash the glass and get second shot opportunities. TCA is very good as well and can shoot, but the best thing about their team is the heart, grit and determination they play with each night out. This one should be a classic but I give the Vikes a slight edge at home.
  12. Madison and Union City do not have to be separated because they were not in the same district or region, but greenwheel may beright if the other teams are separated then they may end up in opposite brackets as well.
  13. In my opinion looking at your post on the Florida model it would be a shame to use it in TN. I will use district 14-A for example only taking District Champ and Runner-up is going to leave usually a VERY good team not playing playoff basketball. With Lake Co., Union City and Humboldt all in same district it would reward a weaker district. For example most years District 14-A sweeps out District 13-A in the region, happened this year again. Wy reward the District Champ of a weaker district and leave a better team at home because of their location? Also Lake Co. was the 7th seed in the district and the 4th seed in the district tourney but now will play Monday for a chance to be in the state tourney. Would not have had an opportunity in that plan.
  14. Out of District 14-A I think Nick McLily from Humboldt and Raheem Flowers from Lake Co. Raheem may not put up the numbers due to sharing the ball with Zay Coleman, Paul Caldwell and others but could be a darkhorse in the race. Lakford from So. Pitt should have a breakout year as well being the man this year. I am sure someone will come out of nowhere and burst on the scene. Heck I am just ready for spring football!!
  15. Vikingalumni, I give you credit that Humboldt just flat beat LC last night but I am with Bigster that 2 fouls on Devon were absolute Garbage, they were not having to help on defensive but on rebounds. The 1st one 15 seconds into the game was BAD. Devon in position, jumps up both hands on the ball but called for a push?? Guess he got a 3rd hand somewhere!!LOL and the last one same deal on a rebound. Bradford climbed an LC players back for a rebound and no over the back call made, which should have been his 4th. That was not the difference in the game though it was Humboldt crashing the glass and using their length to their advantage, no doubt. They played well and earned the victory. Hope we can see each other 1 more time because that means we are both in the titel game in Murfreesboro.
  16. As I have said all year I felt that Humboldt was the most athletic team in the district and they proved to be the better team once again last night. Their length and depth gives LC problems and they are just flat out a tough match-up for us. We are outsized at almost every position which makes it difficult on the boards. With that said I also believe Depth was a key factor as LC's cold shooting stems as much from tired legs as anything else. I know alot of players, especially Zay and Dominique missed some shots they normally make. The number of minutes Zay has played in the district and region tourney and having to handle the ball as much as he does affected his game IMO. Also Humboldt's length did not help, Bradford did a good job on Zay, sagging off and making Zay shoot over him. Humboldt made a good defensive adjustment there as Zay was able to take #10 off the dribble whenever he wanted. I feel both of these teams CAN get to Murfreesboro but I do like LC's match-up. Felt we were better off to play MAHS instead of TCA even though it is tough to go in Memphis and win. Good luck to the Vikings and I hope we both make it to the tourney.
  17. Last year we played Madison in the sub-state at Liberty so I wonder if they will use their gym again? Will post when I find out.
  18. Excited and ready for the game tonight. It is great to still be playing this time of year so hats off to both the Vikings and Falcons. As for the game the Vikings hold a 2-1 edge in the series this year and have the definite height, length and depth advantage. Experience advantage in my opinion goes to LC even though they are young Devon Jones and Zay Coleman have played in MANY big games the last 2 years and know what it takes to get the win in crunch time. This game could be another classic and epic match-up we have come to expect from the Falcons/ Vikings rivalry as this is the 3rd time in 3 years they have met in the regional final. Lc won the 1st 2 can they make it 3 in a row or will Humboldt break the string and send LC on the road for substate? LC needs to keep Zay and Devon on the court and out of foul trouble and get some complimentary scoring from Dominique Kimble, Rashaun Taylor and Raheem Flowers in my opinion to get the W. Also must play great defense and be strong down low with Justin Kimble and Devon. Can't wait for tipoff at 7 tonight.
  19. Bigster just caught your second post where you mentioned it. Guess you posted it while I was typing my long response!! Sorry bout that. I am with Tiger you know with the rivalry and win over our UC ies is a big one. congrats and go big green. Viking I am with you wheher LC plays man or zone they must keep Humboldt off the glass. I have said all year I felt Humboldt was the best all-around team in the district with their length, depth and Bradford's ability to score. Lc must be MEN on the boards and keep Zay and Devon on the floor to pull out the W. Got faith in them so hopefully they can get it done.
  20. Bigster sometimes I guess it is better to be lucky than good then. LC played hard and got the win all that matters. As I told someone at halftime as some fans were complaining about the end of half and only being up 2 said "I bet you would have took it before the game if someone had said LC would be up 2 at the break"! UC had pretty much dominated LC in the 2 previous meetings. You have said it yourself LC cannot survive long without Devon or Zay on the floor so with a substate birth on the line Devon has to be able to play with fouls and be smart. LC does not have the luxury of alot of great ball handlers or shooters for that matter. Agreed that some players had taken some ill-advised shots but that has been a problem for as long as I can remember, We struggle running clock. As I told Coach B 2 years ago it is hard to turn a race horse into a walking horse. Figured you would have mentioned how she had the team foul with a 3 point lead at the end of the game. I know you have mentioned in the past how you wish the girl's teams had done that in some games. This time of year we take them how we can get them. Good job Green
  21. To my ole Buddy Chipper got an extra Green Shirt and Cap for ya Thursday if you want to wear it!!LOL Seriously it was a great game and UC kept fighting to the end. Chipper congrats to your guys on a good year.
  22. Great game between LC and UC tonight. Just believe the Falcons wanted it a little bit more and they have Zay Coleman. He scores 30 tonight and had UC running 3 defenders at him late in the 4th trying to keep the ball out of his hands. Also the unsung hero in my opinion goes to Raheem Flowers on defense and Dominique Kimble on offense. Raheem kept DeBerry off balance and out of rythmn all night with his defensive pressure while Dominique made some clutch 3s to take a little of the scoring load off Devon and Zay. Also Justin Kimble grabbed some big rebounds and played some big minutes When Devon fouled out in the 4th. Coach B and staff did a great job coaching tonight and it was a total TEAM win. Congrats to UC on a good year now LC and Humboldt hook up in the region 7-A title game for a 3rd straight year. Should be a good 1 Thursday night.
  23. Falcon update is the boys are pounding it out in the weightroom right now getting ready for spring. Spring practice will run from May 1st-16th with LC scrimmaging Gleason on the 16th. Should be a very interesting spring practice for a VERY young Falcon tean with alot of positions up for grabs. Could potentially see 5-6 Sophomores starting on both sides of the ball this year in LC. Focus now is on getting the young pups stronger and ready to compete in a very tough District 14-A.
  24. Been out of town the last few days but I am looking forward to 2 Great Match-Ups tomorrow night. I know I am biased but I do want to give a shout out to Coach B and the job she has done this year. Record not the most impressive but to be in the Region semis after losing 6 of her top 8 players off last year's team is a good accomplishment. Went to 2 seed Greenfield and won then to 1 seed Mckenzie and won. This is the same thing I said for Coach Sisco last year and the job he did with his young team. As a Coach you often work your hardest and do your best job when you lack the overall talent and I feel Coach B and Coach Johnson have done that this year at LC so hats off to them. Now The falcons need to lay it on the line and pull the upset so they can join the Lady Falcons in the Sub-State round this year. Good luck and Go big Green!!
  25. JVaughan, I know Coach B said if the boys sweep 1st round the tournament goes to Humboldt because they are the #1 seed in the District so I expect the girls agreed on the same thing that it would go to the #1 seed which is UC. So looks like LC and SF will met up again with a sub-state game on the line in the Thunderdome at UC.
