One grand scottish tradition that Coach Mccadams and coach mctillman brought to the mcmustangs is the lipscomb limerick challenge. every player is encouraged to bring a limerick for the pregame peptalk. the best ones will be read and those players will start the game. Have you ever been to brentwood. People from brentwood move there specifically to go that school. Is that considered illegal? Are they not paying to play there. Or lets take your portland example. are there not people who move there to play for portland because of their reputation. Are they not paying to play there? Well if alcoa is winning too much just put them in with the privates. Then everything else will be fair. Here's an even better idea... let's just put every team in a separate division and give them all their own state championship ball. It will save a lot of expense in actually playing the game too see who wins.

If I'm not mistaken every school requires payment to go to it. It's called, Rent, mortgage, property tax. I believe in order to attend a school a family is probably paying at least one of those things.

In researching a bit deeper into the whole bagpipe history, ancient people used the bag pipes as an instrument of torture. You see they would lock someone in a room with the bagpiper just out of reach. The bagpiper would then begin to play. At first you think the sound is awful because the piper is not quite warmed up yet. Then you realize the sound is getting worse not better as time goes by. To make it even more unbearable, when the piper skips to a new song it sounds exactly like the old one. This goes on and on till people go completely insane, and rarely were they ever able to recover. My information says it probably took around four minutes for someone to go completely insane from the sound. Oddly enough the pipers themselves were immune to the sounds. When they played it was as if they couldn't even here what they were playing. I'll continue researching....

I have answers to both of your questions. First, you may sit in the stands unless they fill up, in which case you will need to stand which is not uncommon at high school football games across america. Second and much more importantly the bagpipes are a tribute to scottish heritage. Now, david lipscomb himself was not scottish but Coach mccadadms great grandfather seamus mccadams was born in ireland which is near to scotland, hence the bagpipes. The bagpipe tradition in scotland was used to mourn the dead after battle, the bagpipes used in DL are used before battle to kill the concentration of the opponents. Another scottish tradition would be eating hagas which after being digested sounds very much like the bagpipe used at DL games. I hope this info helps with your decision about whether or not to bring ear muffs and a seat warmer to the game on Friday.
