  1. well i got to see bledsoe play last night and thought they played really hard for the most part. was very impressed with a couple of runs that watson made as well as the speed that was shown by brown on the interception return and by #4. also colvard played admirably and kept trying to make plays all night, did a good job making tackles in the secondary on a very talented running back, ridley nice pass defense, GETRIGHT - when you only post when someone accuses you of being someone else, it only adds to their belief they are right. SOCCER, get your boy on the football field, you should not be allowed to post on another football topic until this happens! Keep your mace bottle full! Warriorhead you are right about that comment but if you really know me then you would know that i will stand up for my family and not back down from someone who hides behind their screen name. However, if you know me you would realize I dont carry mace. As for the comment on soccer- my son will probably be a football player some day because truthfully that is what MY family does. as for me posting on football boards I EARNED THE RIGHT TO POST ON BLEDSOE FOOTBALL BECAUSE I PLAYED unlike many of the other posters. now for your efforts at figuring out who people are then maybe you should pay more attention to what is written and less to your own thoughts. wardawg and warrior2024 shouts out to you guys, i know you will not settle for the seasons you had even though as someone who understands building a program both of you showed that you can get it done. hope to see you at some play-off games. i'm probably heading to south pitt friday so keep me posted where you guys are going to be and maybe we can sit around and talk about football. good luck in the bowl game
  2. well listen up...for you guys who are hard of hearing remember this....JIM SWAFFORD IS GETRIGHT. Nobody in my family has to hide behind a screen name and nobody has to prime us for a job. The truth is that my father has been approached about the superintendent job if it comes open. However, me being head coach next year is not even an option at this point because we have a coach. Now for the people who are scared of change maybe you should keep doing and saying what you are doing and saying. As for someone running against my younger brother I am sure that he stays awake at nights wondering who his next opponent will be. Truthfully we don't talk about politics or things other than how my son (aaron) is doing in soccer, zachary is doing in football and how our walking horses are doing. now, i hate to use this message board to talk about these things but obviously you people want to make someone out to be the reason for your own lack of success. Oh, for the important thing on this board I believe that Bledsoe can make a good game of it Friday night and I will be there.
  3. ok you drew me in to this board. My name is Jim Swafford. I do not write on these boards because I have been a coach and know what type of trash comes from this. However, do not try to use my father as a scapegoat for the problems in Bledsoe County and do not mention my name on here as someone who is trying to get a coaches job. I have known Hubert for 34 or 35 years. We roomed together in college and were in each others weddings. I changed his son's diapers (sorry Josh) when he lived at Tech village. If you want to drive a wedge between people don't start here. I was at the game Friday night standing on the sideline with Carlos Smith, we had been at the Taft game. I see things that I don't like in Bledsoe County but NONE of them are the fault of Hubert Roberson. I also wish the people who make comments such as the ones about my father posting about himself would come talk to me. That is not a threat but obviously you have no idea what type of people you are talking about. Now I will end my conversation and will not be back on this sight. Oh, by the way, I work at Taft Youth Center and help Rooster coach the football team. I am proud to be from Bledsoe County. I wore the blue and gold for 4 years in both football and baseball and played on two very successful teams. I believe I earned the right to make comments about Bledsoe County football unlike many people on these boards. I also think that tradition and keeping tradition alive is something we should appreciate not try and tear down. We have a great county and that is why I have chosen to raise my children here.
  4. you are very right about not knowing what is going on in GC. However, I have read this board and realize that it is people like you who are always complaining about coaches. You can delete anything that you want. That is the sadness that is coacht. A few people try to control what is said and then stand up and delete what THEY think is inappropriate. As for me telling you who I am it wouldn't matter. I have no idea who you are and truthfully don't really care. I do believe that high school sports is about kids and not about grown-ups with vendettas
  5. good luck to Coach Pickett. I believe in the world of second chances and more if people need it. However, I can't let this pass. KC is far from the worst thing that ever happened to GC. I believe successful people want successful people and he will want what is best for the program. Apparently he has accepted the new coach and will work to make him a success. Del get a life, don't be angry at other people for your failures
  6. Del just because you have written news articles doesn't give you any special priviledges for anything and least of all for calling the people in charge "idiots". I do realize that is because they have put you in your place more than 1 time. I realize that for some reason you have an ax to grind and that you are still mad over not being elected. However, keep your opinions professional not personal and everyone else will do the same and profit
  7. from jamestown, i feel the pain in dunlap, we went through some tough times after many years of being the best team in our area. it looks like you guys are doing the same. i know how proud you guys are of your program and it really irritates me when people get on here and bash your coach. i agree with someone who said that a poster on here should be in a circus that is true, he is much like an elephant (full of it)
  8. you guys are getting a good coach in smith, i watched his ezell harding team win the A state championship. however, i do not think his brand of football will get him very far in that area. you can knock DB all you want but it seems to me that if you are not a physical team then you are destined to stay in the back of the pack
  9. bchswar, what are you trying to do? It seems like you have a real problem with everything that goes on in Bledsoe County and you are blaming everyone that you can possibly think of. Maybe you should blame the president, I am sure that in some way he kept you from getting what you wanted. Give me a break. Unless you are in the system you have nothing to do with this. If you don't like what is going on by all means voice your opinion to someone who can do something about it but a message board is only a coward's way out.
  10. What? if this is a rumor we need to get it off of these boards. there is no reason for someone to get hurt if this isn't true. If it is true let someone who knows tell us what actually transpired
  11. I love to see people jumping on coaches. I didn't realize that your coach had won coach of the year that many times but did find out that he took built a girl's program back that was in disarray and totally built a boy's team that had been poor for more than a few years. I also know that Stewart County must also not be a hotbed for talent as all you have to do is look at their other sports to figure out that. By the way does the coach have discipline, work hard and do what is necessary to make his players better. What about the other programs are they doing the same thing. I bet you can find why one is successful and the others are not.
  12. This is a great thread. I don't know much about the history of bledsoe football but would have to put: QB -1983 #33 - 1983 big fullback -1983 TB - 1986 (wow still have nightmares) the player who led the defense - 1986 #10 1987 good athlete
  13. if the weight room and field house were in good shape when the coach and the A.D. got there then it is their job to keep it up. Be good stewards. How is the discipline and work ethic in the program. I am a believer that keeping things in good shape is a matter of pride within the program from the top to the last guy off the sideline. Have you talked with the admininstration to see what they think. Also, if the field is in bad shape maybe the coach should get some help from other people. I saw a picture of your field several years ago when you guys were playing Heritage (I think) The field looked great and you guys really looked good and won big. Is the excitement the same as then....I used to be able to watch the inside prespective and find out the news from knoxville football
  14. Well let's fire every coach everywhere that gets fired up and jumps on a player. That is the solution. Let's not try and build character and stress to players and young people that their mistakes cost them. Instead lets just let them make mistakes and then tell them everything is not their fault. I am not in favor of demeaning players but there is a line that the fans can't see. If a player has a problem with a coach then the player (an possibly the parent) should go to the coach. Many good coaches have been suspended and fired because of people who didn't understand what was going on or because their administration was too afraid of their job to do their job and back the coach. Don't get me wrong; if the coach is out of line or has been warned then something should be done, if not then leave them alone.
  15. wardawg I have only seen you make educated posts so I am not going to respond in a negative manner to you and take no offense. I can't believe that any school board would have a superintendent that would believe that he did not have to do things right...he must have felt that the coach would be the right fit and did not share in the thoughts that there would be someone else interested in the job who could do the job
