  1. Since Milan used a timeout, he was not required to sit out a play. Had they not used the timeout, he would have had to sit out one play. The kid was obviously ailing a bit and showed a lot of guts to tough it out.
  2. I wasn't stupid enough to try to predict the score. I knew it was going to be a dogfight and anything could happen. Anytime you start saying "there's no way" then there's going to be a way. I complimented the dawgs on a great game. All I heard from you was excuses. And why the baseball reference?? As I said before, you obviously have me confused with someone else. I know the Bru that PA's the Jaxx games and I ain't him. How that ties in to tonights game is what I'm having a hard time figuring out.
  3. I don't listen to Jaxx games Rammer, I go watch. What the heck has that got to do with you talkin smack all week and then not being able to back it up? Huntingdon beat your dawgs straight up. Grow up and accept it.
  4. The squib kick was not recovered by Milan. Huntingdon had possession of the ball before it went out of bounds. It was obvious from the Huntingdon side. It was a great game and the better team won. Huntingdon put together a drive when they had to to win the game. Milan could do nothing to stop them and then had nothing to offer when they got the ball back with a little over a minute left. Walker and Co. left it all on the field and have nothing to be ashamed of. It was one of the better high school games I've ever witnessed.
  5. I know he's just a Jr. but does he have a favorite for his college choice yet? Looks like he can pretty much pick where he wants to go.
  6. Great High School football game. The coaches for both teams did an excellent job of preparing for this game. No one thought it would be a 12-7 final--me included. The Mustangs will represent West Tenn well next week and do their best to defend their State Championship. Milan's kids played great. Huntingdon just put together a drive when they had to. Just like champions are supposed to do. See ya in the Boro.
  7. There's also a serious imbalance in the number of schools on each side of the 2A bracket. Regions 1-4 have only 25 teams to fill 16 playoff spots, while Regions 5-8 have 32 teams to fill 16 playoff spots. The other classes are much better balanced. Not sure I could have done any better, but it sure seems a bit unfair.
  8. What are the vitals (size, stats, etc) on Lindsey? I've heard a lot about him but haven't had the pleasure to watch him play? Is he SEC material? Appreciate any info.
  9. I'd love to talk some sensible football if there was ever any being discussed. I've made one post on this thread before now and it was directed first at Mr. Goodwrench and then I gave my prognosis. How exactly did you deduce from that that I can't talk about the game? Be careful, you're gonna hurt my feelings.
  10. That would be a first since I've never announced a Jaxx game before. You obviously think you know more than you really do. But it wouldn't be a bad idea to convert it to a football stadium after the Jaxx leave town next season.
  11. As bad as I hate to, I must agree with MR Goodwrench. Huntingdon isn't very good. There's no way they can stop Blount up the middle and if they can't do that then they can't win. It's gonna be just like last year, Milan's gonna roll over the Mustangs 2 times in.....what? Huntingdon won the game that counted and then won the state championship? Hmmm.....somebody musta forgot to tell MR Goodwrench. He's giving out misleading info. So, are you telling me Huntingdon might have a chance in this game? IF, and a big IF, the Stangs can control Blount then they can win. If they allow him to run wild like he did in the first game, then it will come down to who makes the fewest mistakes or gets the calls. Since we're playin at Milan, I wouldn't count on any calls. I guess Milan wins.
  12. There's no way to get everybody that wants to watch next week's Huntingdon/Milan matchup in Johnny Hale Stadium. How about moving it to Rothrock in Jackson where at least there'll be a decent visitors side to sit on. Not trying to start a controversy or nothing but it makes sense to have room for all the fans that are going to be there. And since Johnny Hale is a joke and Rothrock would be available, how about playing it there?? I mean, Milan can have the concessions and gate and all that other stuff, but at least the Huntingdon fans would have a shot at watching the game.
  13. Boo really struggled last week in the mud. He only had 137 yds on 14 carries. Oh yeah, the mud will be on the Camden side too so I would expect the Boyd boys to be jsut as affected as Boo. Huntingdon has won more playoff games in the mud than Camden has PLAYED so don't go thinking we're worried about a little rain. We can win without throwing the ball. I don't think Camden can. I know the games getting closer by the minute but let's stop all this nonsense and let the kids play the game. It's their moment, not the bozos on here.
  14. I think it will take a year or 2 for USJ to adapt to the 2A schedule. They've struggled with Riverside the last 2 years, losing in 2003 and just squeaking by this year. Riverside has only won 6 games the last 2 years. Not saying they can't compete, but it will be tough at first. Especially since Liberty, Madison and JCS are getting some of those kids USJ used to get.
  15. lol...gonna be like the old days. talk about your tough region. 3 region champs from this year plus Humboldt, Dresden, etc. Makes for a lot of tough Friday nights next fall in this area. I can't wait.
  16. Man, that brought back some memories. One of the highlights of my career was finding my number hangin on the goalposts before the Lexington game my Sr. year. I guess now it would go something like: Boo's yeller and wears girls panties, Donald fumbles cause he's afraid he'll get hit and he's covering his eyes instead of the ball, Hampton ain't really hurt, he's just one of those chickens that used to go on the goalposts. Belew and Townes and Hastings and Bush and Harris and Kelley are too fat and slow to play, they'll be sucking wind by the 3rd quarter. Hopefully the ugly Mustang cheerleaders will show up so they'll have enough people to put on the field cause I know there ain't gonna be enough men to face the big bad Lions. And then they could sign it from Yoder or Markham, etc. How's that sound?? (Tongue planted firmly in cheek)
  17. Good info. That's what I was wanting. I know Huntingdon is playing better defense that it was during the middle stretch of the season when Westview, Camden and Milan all had success moving the ball. I gathered from what I've read about Camden that they have made steady improvement also. I expect it to come down to turnovers and mistakes. I consider blown assignments, penalties and having the ball stripped because you're carrying it to loose to be more mental mistakes than physical deficiences. A lot of times the missed tackles you referred to are more a result of skilled runners than poor tackling. As for the Boro part, let's just wait and see. Milan totally dominated the line of scrimmage in our previous matchup. It will be interesting to see how they match up with Carver, who I know very little about. I expect Camden to bring just as big a crowd (if not bigger) Friday night as Huntingdon brought in Week 6. Add in the Bruceton, McKenzie, WEst Carroll, etc. folks and it should be a great atmosphere for a high school game. Let's just hope the players get to decide it on the field and not have the refs take over like they are prone to do.
  18. I just asked a simple question. What's changed since week 6? IMO, both teams have improved. SOunds like Camden feels like they can win and I'm sure the Mustangs do as well. ANd yes, Huntingdon left the Milan game in week 7 feeling like they could beat Milan if they played again and the coaches made the proper personnel changes at key positions to make that possible. Huntingdon's problem all year has been turnovers and penalties. If we ever play a complete game and not try to beat ourselves, we'll destroy someone.
  19. Oh I was there alright. I saw Huntingdon run up and down the field all night on the Camden defense (300+ yds rushing) and kill themselves with turnovers. I saw Camden rush for 90 something yards on the night and I saw them score 14 of their points as a result of 2 blown coverages in pass defense. Camden led by 1 going into the 4th quarter and Huntingdon dominated the 4th to pull away. All I asked was what has changed to make you think Camden will win. I never said anything about who was gonna win. Read the posts and then respond if you want but don't try to put words in my mouth.
  20. Why? Huntingdon won by 14 at Camden. What's changed to make you predict a Camden win?
  21. THe Mustangs took the best shot of another 2A team and survived. Hats off to the Cubs for a great season. The game tonight was another hard fought contest with both teams showing their fortitude. The Mustangs have a lot left in them if they can eliminate some of the foolish mistakes which cost them tonight. i look forward to a large crowd from Camden rolling into Mustang Country next week.
  22. I love it when the Milan folks start Huntingdon threads. Can't you even enjoy the Bulldogs big win for ONE night without worrying about the Mustangs?
  23. ''Obviously, I think he is deserving,'' Huntingdon coach Mike Mansfield said. ''You're talking about a kid that never comes off the field. I haven't totaled up what his total yards are, but he's rushed for what, 1,874 yards, and on defense he's got four interceptions. He is really a special player." These numbers don't include his tackles, his receptions or his return yardage. Boo doesn't HAVE to defend his nomination to anyone on this board or anywhere else. His body of work speaks for itself.
