  1. Wow. It was simply a blowout at Cooper Field tonight. After last-year's close game (20-14 in 2OT, GB), Greenback was still only predicted to win by two or so. But hey, try 35. A great start to a (hopefully) great season. --Kemple Go 'Kees
  2. Thanks, tightend. The feeling's mutual, I'm sure, for everyone on our team, including myself. Best of luck to all of you all. We'll be waiting for you come game time. --Kemple Go 'Kees
  3. Yeah, we commited a lot of errors (six turnovers), and Polk ended up having the edge on better field positions. Without the turnovers, however, I think there were more positives than negatives with the overall play in that scrimmages. Polk is a very good team, and I wish them luck on another good season. They have a class-act Coach. As for the state of Greenback football, I think it can be, and is just as good as the heydays of '86 - Early(er) '90s. We have a good deal of athletes, and hard-nosed team players. I believe people may be surprised this year of how far we can, and probably will go in the season/playoffs. You just have to take it one game at a time. --Kemple Go 'Kees
  4. We've (Greenback) gained some size up front, just from growing/lifting weights (due to the fact that Freshmen/Sophomores made up most of the line last year), but during preseason we've tried to scrimmage teams that were generally much larger than us. Marion Co., for instance, scored on us only but a few times early, but we slowly crept back. The score ended up being 4 - 3, 4 - 2 or something like that. We went toe-to-toe with Bearden, no team scoring anything. Not to mention scrimmages during spring practice (DCA scrimmage: 6 - 1 in our favor). It may still be tough for us, but with all the added bonuses (Senior defensive back group, very strong passing attack, and larger line), it shouldn't be as tough as last year. Of course, that's not to say it won't ever be tough. It's still football. We'll just have to see against Pigeon Forge come this Friday. Oh, and RebelRon, #2 should have a good year. He is co-leader of a great bunch of receivers we have. Good luck to the Rebels of Maryville. --Kemple Go 'Kees
  5. Are u serious about Harriman being a nice town, u need to check out Kingston, it is on the lake and much nicer. Gary Bailey is the coach Ah yes, the "Battle of more beautiful towns". As for a serious prediction...Kingston. Not a tremendous score or anything, but Greenback played Harriman in a scrimmage earlier in the month, and they (Harriman) weren't that great. They do have a couple of playmakers, though, although their squad is actually pretty small (#s wise). --Kemple Go 'Kees [Edited by MakoRevised on 8-26-02 9:33P]
  6. 2a- champs-goodpasture runner-up-sweetwater I don't think in 2a the Goodpasture will beat Sweetwater for the Championship because I think they are on the same side of the Bracket come playoff time and would meet before the title game? [Edited by Sequatchie on 8-25-02 11:40P] Same goes for Collinwood/Ezell.
  7. Or for the MUS-Melrose game? I'm just going by your scoreboard, and the one from TSSAA's website. There probably is a score, I'd just like to know what it was. Surely there are some West TN folk out there who'd like to share? --Kemple Go 'Kees
  8. It's monday here in Greenback, and there's still no score for the CBHS/Whitehaven game. Anyone know what it is? --Kemple Go 'Kees
  9. Well, there goes my #1 ranking. --Kemple 'Go Kees
  10. Uh, who won? I'm guessing BA. --Kemple Go 'Kees
  11. heh. Some of these I just got lucky, or it was just my day. I picked Greenbrier over DCA, I mean, seriously. I'm hoping it's still my day today. I picked Brentwood over BA, and Franklin over Lincoln Co. Fingers crossed. --Kemple Go 'Kees
  12. holy crap, As of 8:30EST, I am in first place!* *with nine other people. Go Brentwood! --Kemple 'Go Kees [Edited by MakoRevised on 8-24-02 7:29P] [Edited by coacht on 8-24-02 7:44P]
  13. We're covered the teams that have come to greatness within these few years, but what about teams that have declined (within the last year or later). Teams that come to mind: Webb (Knoxville): I have tons of respect for Webb (They gave Greenback some fits a few years back), and although they're a good team, they really have declined in the past few years. Milian: Again, a good team, but not, you know, not the great-milian-insane team. Of course, I'm sure being with Westview and Humboldt doesn't help. --Kemple Go 'Kees
  14. I believe Goodpasture has been doing awfully well these past few years. When they were in D2, they were lucky to be above .500. --Kemple Go 'Kees
  15. I don't doubt Maryville wore them (Hillsboro) out, but like Morristown West, they are pretty evenly matched with the local 4A champs (with Maryville having a slight edge), and probably could've been beaten Maryville, much like Morristown West did. --Kemple Go 'Kees [Edited by MakoRevised on 7/26/02 11:48P]
  16. To make it clear, Maryville definitely is NOT the best team in the state. A few 5A teams could beat them, and if you gave Hillsboro another shot, I bet they'd do it, too. Morristown West would have a pretty good shot, and some D2 privates. --Kemple Go 'Kees
  17. Polk County will scrimmage Greenback at Polk County. I'd say that should be a pretty good one. Any thoughts? --Kemple Go 'Kees
  18. Cloudland defintely has one of the worst fields I've seen, although the same cannot be said for their team. Definitely a hard place to play. On the other hand, Greenback has a very good field, and I'll throw Oneida in the mix. --Kemple Go 'Kees
  19. Austin James from Greenback. Had a sensational Freshman year. Of course, the fact that he now has 3 starting senior receivers that all run in the 4.6 range, and one very tough junior receiver helps a good deal. --Kemple Go 'Kees
  20. While I am a native to Greenback, I still got hit by him in practice a few times. I am speaking of Cody Long. The main problem with the guy is that he is so easy to underestimate. He's not a big guy, but he's one of the hardest-hitting people I've seen (and felt, no doubt). It's a shame to see him leave. --Kemple
  21. There's a sophomore that goes Greenback, and squats equal or more than 615, I believe. Insanity. --Kemple
