  1. Bulldog fans... Word of advice that I put out on a Huntingdon thread. Be careful where you sit on the home side at the stadium. The TV cameraman has a lift truck roaming the sidelines and it creates problems seeing the game if you are eye level with him. My suggestion will be to sit up a little higher to prevent this. Go Bulldogs... See ya'll there........
  2. Bulldogs fans... Word of advice. Sit up high. The TV camera man has a rolling lift truck that creates havoc on the home side. I'm serious. Thanks for the tickets but I have a pass... /cool.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="B)" border="0" alt="cool.gif" />
  3. Bulldogfan#2.. You could join and have an associate membership... /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" /> We would let you off when the Bulldogs and Mustangs laced it up. I'm glad we could keep ya'll on our schedule next year. I knew Morris and Swenson wanted it to happen but sometimes scheduling is tough to get in. There is lots of talk around town about the schedule for next year but these are the teams we have always played except Dyer county. I don't mind playing them but it's a haul from Huntingdon to Newbern. I'll be at the game on Friday and we all hope you can get it done. Alcoa is one tough team but Milan is the one team in the state that can beat them.. We were able to come down and watch the Bulldogs play the last two weeks and it looks like they are ready to go. I know you're excited and maybe I can run into you and BulldogDynasty before the game. I getting excited myself... Good luck......
  4. OldGold70 The Pigskin Pals have grown over the years. Hoofbeat is correct in that the club started over a tainted bottle of Calorad... /rolleyes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="rolleyes.gif" /> There are no dues or annual fees but one must swear loyality to the Mustangs. It's kinda like the Masons. To be one you have to ask one. It's family orientated but sometimes there is much heated discussion. We'd be glad to have you in the club. We have had steak night, hot wing night and chittlin night. We listen to the "Horse" before each meeting and sometimes have Mustang Trivia or watch old game films. Check us out...... You and Hardhead70 have the same last name... Are you kin to each other?
  5. PWII.... You and SteveO are now official members of the "Pigskin Pals". Congratulations.. Cousin "Tiny" has one job with the PP and he does it well. /rolleyes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="rolleyes.gif" /> I have a question and didn't know from talking with you Friday night if you knew the answer. Hopefully you can get an answer from Coach Swenson. I haven't heard anything official but the TSSAA says all teams must have white jerseys when playing away from home. Does this happen next year for certain? Gonna seem odd for us for sure. Will Swenson go back to Old Gold for our colors and have blue helmets or will they keep the Vegas Gold uniforms and helmets? I'd like to go back to the "Old School" look with blue helmets and Old Gold myself. I know you and SteveO have a special interest in Mustang football and I know we'll be better next year. Swenson will toughen them up this winter and spring. If you find out anything holler at me. Spring practice won't be too far off...
  6. Come on guys... What in the world would Saban be doing at the Milan and GP game watching Cunningham. He's a good ballplayer but you'll see 10 more like him at the Boro this year. The night before the Auburn game... /biggrin.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="biggrin.gif" />
  7. Great game Bulldogs. Milan D was the difference again tonight. The holding call on GP's first drive on the TD was huge to start the game. Poor coaching on GP's part. Going for it on 4th down on their end of the field was questionable in the 1st quarter. That gave Milan a short field and they capitalized on it. Too many errors by GP to beat a good team like Milan. Good luck next week against Alcoa. I'll be there cheering ya'll on.
  8. Cougar Brown.. Naw, he's talking about Milan. We couldn't beat JCS but Milan did and they're gonna roll Goodpasture up like a cheap rug at the flea market... Milan .... 31 Goodpasture ... 7 Thought I'd make it to the Hillsboro and HC game but things haven't worked out so I'll be there pulling for the Bulldogs. You folks from Milan better be glad the game is in Milan cause they don't have enough visitors seating at GP to seat a good Middle School crowd.... Slightly larger than Waverly. /cool.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="B)" border="0" alt="cool.gif" />
  9. Good luck Rebels. If they can't score they can't win. Mckenzie...... 17 Jo Byrns........ 7
  10. The difference in the game was the front four for the Bulldogs. The Qb from JCS didn't have a clear look for most of the night. The fumble by JCS on their 1st series and the blocked punt by Milan were huge.
  11. Go Bulldogs. Whip em good. I'll be there with blue on and a Mustang cap. Hope to catch up with Bulldogfan#2 and BullddawgDynasty. Run right at em and wear them down. 4 and 5 yards a clip. Will Bulldogfan#1 be at the game or listening on the radio? Milan... 24 JCS... 10
  12. Mustang5305.. You weren't too shabby either... /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" />
  13. Good post. Although their won/loss record was 3-3, I believe they have some talent. It's kinda like the year when all-state running back Matt Weathers was in the Middle School. They had him at guard. Coach Carroll put in Swenson's double wing offense and the Middle school had never seen it before this fall. They struggled with it early but got better as the year went on. Just basic stuff with the same plays the High School ran. There are several boys on that team that are tough and mean. Good size too. There were two pee wee teams in Huntingdon for the first time in awhile and from my understanding the coaches had them running the High School plays too. Slowly the ground work in getting into place.
  14. I know, and those that are close to the program do too. They'll have to work and get it in their head what it takes to get back on top. We've always played these teams so why quit now. I like the looks of next year's Freshman class. If anybody can come up with a different schedule and explain why it would benefit the program, I'd like to hear it.
  15. Redgrange.. Heck man, Red Boilings Springs couldn't beat Houston County's B-team. What's your point? Since 2000 Huntingdon has a record of 82-32 for a winning % of 72%. Not shabby for teams with no talent. Probably could have that % up to 90% if we scheduled cupcakes. You are correct in saying this is not the NFL and not 1965. I'll give you that. Don't know what's up with you but all I asked is why schedule Dyer County and you start talking about being a crybaby. Not questioning Coach Swenson because he has his reasons. Coach Hayes is at Southside now so why not swap them for Dyer County? Think Milan has rather play B.T. Washington or Southside? Same for us. Everybody knew this would be a tough year because of all the Seniors that graduated last year and many players have never started before this year. All schools go through that. Ever think why Lewis County can't get out of the 2nd round? I don't think anyone has the luxury of seeing the talent down for the next year and then be able to rearrange their schedule accordingly, do you? Huntingdon is Huntingdon. Will they win every game? NO.. Play hard? You bet.. Sure would like to see your proposed schedule for next year. Got to go get my tongue back in place... /rolleyes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="rolleyes.gif" />
  16. I know more than you obiviously think I do. What suggestion would you have about scheduling? Let's here it... We could have gone 7-3 this year with a few cupcakes but what do you want? By no means do I think Huntingdon will win the state title every year but every small school has years where the talent level drops off. We went 7-3 last year and beat Milan so what do you think. Was the talent up or down for HHS last year? What's your thoughts? You're now aware of who we HAVE to play in district so go ahead and make us out a schedule... You play Big Sandy in baseball and then face JCS in tourney time then your players have no idea of the quality and speed of the game. Same applies to football. 99% of the fans will agree with me that you don't gain a thing playing weak teams. I guess you're in the 1%. I'd like to see your schedule.. I mentioned earlier was the questioning of having DC on the schedule and not Lexington. DC would have beat Lexington so this would have been a wash. If the Huntingdon boys can't cut it then they can always play in the band.... /wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink.gif" /> I look forward to next year along with the rest of the Mustang fans.
  17. RedGrange.. I think you may have missed my point and I'll take exception to Huntingdon playing tough teams. I just thought we should play Lexington who we have played since 1930. Why schedule Dyer County which is an hour and a half away and when they come here they didn't bring 100 people. About 25 more than Waverly did... /blush.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="blush.gif" /> HHS and Lexington used to be like the Milan and HHS game is now. Always packed and great games in the past. Huntingdon has never backed down from playing anybody and swapping Lexington for Dyer County would be just what the Huntingdon fans would like to see. Maybe they couldn't work it out the other night at the meeting. The Mustangs have always played Milan,Westview,Mckenzie and Camden and then UC many times recently. Only when they redid the scheduling we couldn't fit these games into a certain slot/date. Do the Mustang fans want to go 9-1 and lose in the 2nd round or possibly go 7-3 and win the state? You get better by playing the best competition. Personally I'd rather win the State Title. With Swenson only having 8 days to install his offense and Coach Miller his defense in the spring and then opening up with possible 2-AA finalist Milan was tough to say the least. The Mustangs will look and be a totally different team next year. Losing 8 Seniors and having about 20 Freshmen move up looks good for the future. What do you want to cry about?
  18. Go Cart... Huntingdon will definitely NOT play privates. Many good folks there in the private schools but they have a huge advantage we don't have here in Huntingdon. We have to play who gets off the bus.... KublahKD.. As I've posted many times here on CoachT privates recruit.. Period... Even if some may not recruit but they get their students form other counties. I didn't know the sisters that are so good for TCA softball are from Decatur County. If Riverside had them don't you think they would be a state contenter? You posted that the schols in DII-A had All Americans on their teams the last several years. Think they started 1st grade there? I would think they were found on the Saturday football afternoon fields in Germanton and Cordova. JCS and USJ will do well in the new classification but get used to playing schools with the best facilities, coaches and put in just as much money as ya'll do. I'm sure Briarcrest evens gets a couple of athletes from Mississippi. Think how many championships Milan would have if they didn't have to face the privates in years past. 3 maybe 4?? This is a Milan-JCS thread so I'll close with this....... GOOOOOOOOOO Dawgs.......
  19. Congratulations to JCS on the win last night. We came up short, literally. Late in the 2nd quarter we went for it on 4th and short and missed it by a couple of inches. JCs comes down and scores right before the half. I thought if we went in tied at the half the the Mustangs would pull it off. The Mustangs took the 2nd half kickoff and drove in to tie the score. This couldn't have been done earlier in the year. Also after JCS went up 21-7 the Mustangs drove down and scored with 7 minutes but couldn't get the ball back. The QB and # 32 hurt us bad. Congratulations to the Mustangs and thanks to the Seniors. You played hard all year and got better. Starting off with two losses at the start was tough for a young team to overcome. Kudos go out to BullDawgDynasty for coming over and sitting amongst the Pigskin Pals last night. Believe it or not I actually saw him clapping for the Mustangs. For a former Bulldog, I know that was hard for him to do...
  20. Come on down to center section on row H or so and if you're wearing purple then I think we will be able to identify you. You may hint around for the gorilla or the "blind referee". Looks like still a chance of rain but it won't matter. We'll be glad to have you. Maybe even teach you some cheers besides "move those chains". Ha.. Come up to the Court Square at 5:45 and meet with the Pigskin Pals. Gas is $1.83 for regular at most stations here.
  21. Harriman... You are correct. It's exit #108.. DO NOT SPEED IN CLARKSBURG.. They would love to have your name on this weeks tally board at City Hall. From I-40, Huntingdon is 18 miles. To get to the Square take the Huntingdon-McKenzie exit and get off the overpass. Take your first right at the 4-way stop and this will take you to the Square. Paul Ward Stadium is on the east end of town. There is a 50% chance of rain tonight. Perfect..... Bulldogfan#2.. Good luck to ya'll too. We sure would like to get another shot at those bad boys from Milan but we've got our hands full tonight.
  22. Bulldogdynasty... The Pigskin Pals met last night and we voted unanimously to let you and another other fans join us to cheer on the Mustangs. You can find us at mid field on the 50 yd .line.. This new ruling in the Book of Order can be rescinded at any time. We all thought this would be a game by game request for those who might wish to become a Mustang fan for that particular Friday night. Harriman... Be at the Court Square at 5:45 this evening.. The Pigskin Pals will huddle there pre-game. Don't forget the Mustang Stew meal at the HHS cafeteria to raise money for two members of the faculty who have illiness in their families. They will be serving from 4:30 till kickoff. We're expecting a hard hitting game tonight against JCS. Go Mustangs
  23. Speaking for myself I would welcome you BulldogDynasty, but I'll have to bring it before the "Board of Control" at our meeting on Thursday night with the Pigskin Pals. We've never had a fan from another school make this request and I'm not sure it's in our "Book of Pigskin Rules and Regulations". I'll get back with you on Friday...
  24. I sometimes wonder about the crowds here in Huntingdon at playoff time. I have noticed the same thing at other schools unless it's a semi-final game. If it's raining I sure some of the older crowd will stay away and listen on the radio. We have a gentleman who is 91 and hasn't missed a game in quite awhile. I heard that Coach Swenson carried him a Mustang cap this weekend and he was so happy over that. This gentleman had two sons who were good players for the Mustangs in the mid 60's. The stew starts at 4:30 and will end at gametime. Looks like a cold wet night here in West Tennessee. Perfect.......... If you do make it come on down and sit with the "Pigskin Pals" right in front of the pressbox, mid way down. I'm sure after a quick vote we can make you an honorary member..
