  1. Got in late last night from Cookeville. We sat behind Nick's parents and grandparents? and talked to them about their son. Fair played a great game although he played with an injured shoulder. Someone may have posted this earlier so I'm sorry if they did. I knew they would play tough after the 1st quarter. Great final drive to win by UC. Congratulations from the Huntingdon Mustangs. Welcome to the "Club".
  2. Bulldogfan 32.... I'll be there all day Friday and 2 games for certain on Saturday. Yea, UC is tough. They played with a purpose last week and I look for them to win tonight against WC.
  3. Congratulations to UC.. You just manhandled us last night. UC fans said to fear the veer but it's not the veer we feared but the people running it. The QB and Nicks just killed us all night. Ronnie Fairs is Mr. Football for sure. What a player. In regular season he came into the post game huddle and congratulated the Mustangs and was gracious last night along with all the UC players. Great fans, good knowledgeable CoachT posters, and tough team. I look for UC to be in the title game for sure. The Pigskin Pals will definitely be in Cookeville pulling for UC. To the Huntingdon Seniors, you had a good year. Thanks..
  4. BulldogFan#2.. You bet. I look for the Bulldogs to make it back to the finals again. Looks like Camden in the quarters and Goodpasture in the semi's to me. Congratulations on the undefeated season again this year. Wow...
  5. bandit1234... That sounds good to me. Really I don't think anybody should get too excited. We'll have to play each other before the end is in sight. I look for the Mustangs to have to play Union City again and that winner will face either Jo Byrns or Wayne County but I too could be wrong.
  6. Moto24.. Please don't begrudge some of our posters. Personally I know JB has another good team. Several of the Pigskins Pals carried several members of last year's team to M'Buro last year to watch ya'll play TC... #44 is a hoss for sure and would be very much deserving of Mr. Football. We're not good enough to overlook anybody... What most fans here in H'don like is now looking ahead and not having to beat Goodpasture and face Milan for the 2nd time to reach the finals. Heck we're not past Union City or Lake County yet.. We are healthy and have passed the flu bug on to other teams.. I do hope we make it to the semi's cause I'd like to see what you guys do before the game with the trucks.. At least we won't have to listen to a guy sitting in a deer stand blowing a diesel air horn all night like the good folks do in Lewis County..
  7. Why wouldn't Huntingdon be in quad 4? They will finish 1st in the 1-A district. That's the way I see it but I could be wrong.. We will not finish 2nd or be a wild card team.. Please enlighten me.. Thanks..
  8. hoofbeat.. Thanks to others that have furnished historical scores to the school we are now able to go to /www.hsfdatabase.com and easily find all of our scores. Really great site. Gleason and Huntingdon have met 20 times and HHS holds the edge against them 13-6-1. We first played in the modern era in 1930 winning 20-6. The last time we played Gleason was in 1949.. It's been 60 years. That's awesome. Actually Gleason has a good winning percentage against us.. I've heard from a PP that the field is in a mess. After the 2 games on it last Thursday 17 bands marched on it on Saturday and it's a quagmire for sure.
  9. Mustangrep21.. Dyer County is 5-AAAAA. He ran the ball once in the 2nd half..
  10. Duckman.. It should be a great game. You probably won't recognize Huntingdon with the road white uni's.
  11. mrbigster.. thanks for the nice comments.. Holder is much deserving of the Mr. Football award along with Ashenbachker (sp?) #44 from Jo Byrns and I'm sure South Pitt has a couple of backs that are deserving too. Swenson did pulll his starters for the 2nd half. Defense stayed in until the 4th quarter though. The only time the 1st team got in on offense was to flip the field and then they came out. The Mustangs took a knee at the half and then at the end of the game to not score. So I don't think anybody should complain if they did about the starters being in. Anyways we're glad to get this game over. It scared me to death. Maybe DC was like us against Camden. We had several out that week with the flu but they all played but just didn't have any spunk. I'm sure Camden had a part in that though..
  12. West Tn team stats are in the Jackson Sun today and each Friday. He carried the ball once in the 2nd half. He carried the ball 3 times for 3 td's against Bruceton for 129 yds and only played for the 1st quarter. Offensive line does the dirty work without many accolades...
  13. Good game by the Mustangs tonight. Our defense was the key to the game. On the 1st drive Holder had 85 yds after being pinned inside the 10 on the opening kickoff. The 1st team "O" didn't play much the 2nd half. Only to get us out of a hole and flip the field. If you don't have much of a run threat then that lets the "D" able to turn loose. Dyer County has some good athletes and they are really young. Most of their team is sophs so they'll be reckoned with for the next two years. Hats off to Coach Swenson and Coach Miller for getting the defense ready for the air assault. I didn't hear the post game show but someone said they had only 85 yds total offense. Some heavy hitting going on tonight. The Pigskin Pals will meet tomorrow at 5:15 to discuss which game we'll be attending. Going to be a wet night..
  14. mrbigster.. Come on down. Looks like the rain is going to hold off till late. Currently radar shows nothing going on in West Tn and scattered showers in Paducah and Hopkinsville. Maybe we'll catch a break and get it in. I know Coach Paul Ward, bless his soul would play the game on Friday night in a driving rainstorm and hail because he always thought that the Mustangs were a "mud" team and always had the advantage. Maybe we would have the advantage in rain with DC throwing the ball all over the field but I'm glad we're playing tonight. Go by Wal-Mart and you can get a rain suit for about $15 and it will pay for itself the first time it rains. If you can't come to the game you can listen to it on the internet at http://www.thefarmradio.com Click on it before kickoff and you should be good.
  15. Mr. Kee knows everything...... He knows Dyer County is 5-AAAAA too.
  16. wannab.. I stand corrected. Milan turned in 626 and Camden turned in 645. Mckenzie turned in 419. The more students a school has the more money they get for "average daily attendance".
  17. logger.. Huntingdon's enrollment was 382 when reclassification was done in 2008 for the 2009 season. Currently our enrollment is 362 as of 9/1/09. Previously we were at the bottom of 2-AA playing teams like Milan and Camden with enrollments of over 800. We didn't complain but played where we were put. Some teams are always having to play larger schools in the classification system. In the 70's and 80's before the 5 classifications when there were only 3 classes we played up much like Trousdale did but we did it for 20 years. Honestly I think we would have had several titles but always had to beat teams like Lexington, Milan, Hardin County, etc. just to make the playoffs. Remember only 1 team made the playoffs from each region then. Speaking for myself only I don't like the 6 classifications. It waters down the titles too much. I don't know why they now have 6 unless it's for more money. To get back to your post, Huntingdon is a legit 1-A team now.
  18. Good hard hitting by the Mustangs last night. In the first quarter Simpson hit #11 coming across the middle and he ran off and fell out on the sidelines. It will take lots of that when the playoffs start. Dresden is vastly improved from last year and had some good looking players. Huge too....
  19. The throw back uni's must have gotten the blood boiling for sure. Who ever came up with this idea is to be congtratulated. Nice win tonight.
  20. Any of the Pigskin Pals make it to practice today?
  21. Good win by the Lions. You've got an excellent team. I thought your defensive line took over in the 2nd half and broke thru and gave us negative yardage several times. The Mustangs fought back but really seemed lethargic tonight. Just wore out. I don't want to make excuses but all the sickness may have taken a toll tonight. The muffed kickpunt by Camden and the 96 yd td run out of the back of the endzone was a dagger for sure. Holder fumbled 3 times. As I said earlier we couldn't give a team like Camden any short field opportunities and that exactly what we did. The Mustangs really need to concentrate on tackling. When Camden would overload one side with 3 wideouts and the backfield was overloaded to that side then some one has to step in and not allow 6 to block 3. The Mustangs will be fine though. This may bring them down a notch or two which is not a bad thing... I sure would like to see Camden and Milan go at it. It may very well happen. Good luck Lions and you've got a very good team.
  22. Advisor.. Thanks for the reply too. I seriously doubt that SweeetDKDaddy is a Mustang fan. Never seen him post on here before and looking at his posts he's all over the board but may be from Greenfield. Most knowledgeable posters like you know what it will take to win. We've seemed to be able to hold onto the ball better the last couple of games but as I told the Seniors last night we can't give Camden a short field and hope to win. Huntingdon has a good team this year as compared to the last year. They tried last year and played with all they had but we started three Seniors on the line that had never even played before. To line up and go against Milan in the 1st game last year was an eye opener for them. The one thing the Pigskin Pals like this year is this team has been down and they keep fighting. I just hope they don't dig themselves in a hole they can't overcome when it really counts..
