Yup, stats do not lie... Grundy came out and left Whitwell shell-shocked after the first quarter. Whitwell was a different team from the one that WHIPPED Jasper a few weeks ago. The opening kickoff was just ridiculous. The kick was short and the coverage pitiful.. I could have ran that one back ( I run a 4 -flat 40... 4 minutes, 0secs... )... Anyway, this was the Grundy team that I feared would show up. Say what you want about Colquette, but he did have those boys ready and they were convincing. I was disappointed in the play-calling at Whitwell. There are just so many times you can run FB up the middle (ie. going to the well once too many times). There were 2 great catches by Whitwell receivers, one a diving catch, and the other a long hail-mary type pass where the receiver was on his back and still made the catch(don't remember who they were or if the same guy). Whitwell is still a solid football team and well coached. We all stumble now and then. They just got out-played by a good Grundy team.
Good Luck to both teams the rest of the year.

Whitwell can lose the rest of their games, including the play-offs, now. The reason being "they are hereos" because they won a game against Marion County. Just goes to show some programs are measured by state championships and some are measured by winning one game per year!! Glad you found the nut Whitwell.
