  1. Gallatin has the speed on defense to keep Sheffield in check. We got to see a little bit of him in the Gallatin Jamboree. He is quite a speedster. If Gallatin corrects the dropped passes and procedure penalties from the Hillwood game they will win by two touchdowns or more. If not, it will be a close game.
  2. Does anyone know the final score of the Gallatin vs. Brentwood freshmen game?
  3. HLHS...you must know something the rest of us don't. How is Gallatin going to score 21 points?!? I am like everyone else. I don't know enough about Hillwood to venture a guess. Gallatin had better open up some offensive imagination. 123 yards is not going to get it done in the region games. At least that is the yardage I heard on the Lebanon station on my way to work today. Just for grins I am going to throw out a 17-13 Gallatin prediction.
  4. Lebanon played us pretty tough. It is still hard to get a feel where either team is. We showed NOTHING on offense and if you take away two long runs the defense dominated Lebanon. I will post a mild disagreement about the blue devil's quarterback. He didn't take a lickin'... he gave one in that run along our sidelines. That kid is tough. Bell and Miller were layin the wood to them though. The plays that really stick out and won the game were obviously the blocked punt, Brad Jones on the goal line fumble, and kick returns. 1-0........I'll take it!!!!
  5. GWave we talked about this the other day but given Lassiter's track record he does bring every program up. We have the talent in place but we have to make good use of it. If any of you see Santa at the malls make sure and ask for a 250 pound fullback for next year.
  6. Splitting schools up never helps and can only water down the talent pool. Don't get me wrong...I am no fan of Rankinbut he does win wherever he goes. I do take pride in the fact that when Coach Short had Gallatin in their prime I never remember people accusing him of recruiting and the like. I would love to see Riverdale brought down a notch. MAN I hate this wait till next year feeling.
  7. Sorry guys but I don't see Riverdale being down as long as Rankin stays there. Rezoning may take talent to another school but just go back and look at his success at Smith Co. I am not a Rankin fan but the man gets it done. Some of Gallatin's best years were those "rebuilding" years. Winning coaches just find a way to win.
  8. Oakland I hope you are right about Lebanon being the odd man out. We swapped Collierville for Lebanon next year and hopefully will open the season with a big non region win. Gallatin will also have an inexperience QB though.
  9. I think Gallatin is keeping Beech for next year and picking up Lebanon. I don't know who the third non-region game is.
  10. Let's let Ravenwood enjoy their playoffs and move the discussion about Gallatin football to a suitable thread. GWave that wish list is starting to get kinda long. We do need to be patient and I think those sophomores spoiled us early on. I will agree that this year was a "rebuilding" year but we played well enough especially on defense to win a couple of those close games but clock management and questionable play calls killed us. Wavelink, we discussed this at the Ravenwood game and I still do not want to publicly criticize the program (you know there is a but coming) but we need some tweaking on the sidelines to insure that the best player for each position is in that position. All of you who know me know that MacFarland was my choice for QB even over Link last year. I refuse to speculate on coach's egos or personalize my concerns. I just want to see that Wave machine that was feared like the Riverdale program is now. I guess I know how Alabama fans feel now...How many Bama fans does it take to change a lightbulb? 100...one to change the bulb and 99 to talk about how great the old one was.
  11. Gallatin and Mt. Juliet had a 2-0 game back in the late 70's early 80's.
  12. In the meantime, selective enforcement trudges on.
  13. Becker is #32, right? He is an outstanding ball player. He seems to always know where the play is going. Gallatin has a sophomore, Ben Miller #40 that is the same way. He has a nose for the ball. Hey, good luck in the playoffs.
  14. With Andy Wicke gone at Hendersonville who will be the man to see in 9AAA. I hope Tyler Troupe from Gallatin reaches his potential this year. Good luck Wave.
  15. Where can I send money for this ref fund. I can collect a small fortune from a group of Gallatin faithful who are tired of hearing it from the Portland crowd. Besides, my boss played for Smith County so maybe I can earn a few brownie points.
  16. Gallatin had a transfer from a Metro school. The tssaa cleared him to play TWICE and then pulled the rug out from under them midway through the season. Gallatin did nothing wrong but got caught in a no win situation.
  17. At last report the case is supposed to be heard in February of next year. Not much else is going on. Everyone close to the case is kinda tight lipped. GWave, what's the latest?
  18. First of all congrats to the guys south of here. Your region handed it to us with the sweep. Second, good luck to Ravenwood. The entire Ravenwood side was very gracious in victory and deserved the win. As far as the game plan and play calling went I agree with GWave. I liked to see the smokestack I and as the game wore on we seemed to get bigger chucks of yardage. Ravenwood just did what they had to do to win and we did not. Sensation, don't be to hard on the coaches. I was pretty critical of them myself but they did try to change things and made it obvious why we did not pass more. Wish list for next year: 1) A big, bruising fullback to lead block for Ronez 2) WORK ON SOMEWHAT OF A PASSING GAME...ANYTHING 3) Clock management Good luck to the senior class in whatever you do.
  19. Another thing we haven't discussed this week is turnovers. I heard a good one on the Memphis / Louisville game last night. Halloween is over...stop giving out candy. Gallatin HAS to protect the ball. It sounds like Ravenwood is probably a hard hitting bunch so we better hang on to the football. Aubrey Ingham may be the difference tonight. Redbarron, I know the secret for tonight.....it's..... up the middle, up the middle, quarterback draw, punt. Not that Ive seen it before. Seriously, the coaches have opened things up since the losing skid and with Hall's hand recouped the passing game for Gallatin has been good. Go GreenWave
  20. Hey GWave, who was the last team we faced with a passing attack this good. Probably was Smyrna and Wolke. Everyone seems to be focused on the passing ability of Ravenwood but they seem to have a very balanced offense from the stats.
  21. Gtowner, I agree and would like to add that Jay Brown is probably the most underrated player on Gallatin's team. He has been a tough, tough runner all year and nobody (including me) has made mention of that. Go Wave. We're back where we belong.
  22. Any word on Gallatin's injuries from Fri. night? They looked like the walking wounded Saturday morning. I was at the cheer competition and someone said we had six injured. Ryan MacFarland and Ben Miller both had shoulder injuries (I think) but I don't know about the others. Juanez Gleaves was also injured. None of the guys I saw appeared to be serious just a little banged up. Our pass defense has been very good so far but we need to get more pressure on the QB. Kyron Malone being back and a healthy Miller is key this week. Congrats to Ravenwood on reaching the playoffs so quickly.
  23. Apollo, Sorry but I'm with these other guys on this one. nununu, with Coker back Franklin may have a good run defense but they haven't seen speed until you guys show up. Coker reminds me of Rocket Ishmail. He is at full speed on his second stride. McGavock will have the toughest time but I believe region 5 will make a good showing.
  24. Regardless of how this all plays out, how many of us would have put McGavock in the driver's seat in week nine with Glencliff being the spoiler. I wish the best to my GreenWave. We should have gotten it done before now but I guess everyone else in region 5 is saying the same thing.
  25. I'll amen that Austin. Our receivers HAVE to hang on to the ball though. If we could pass more it would spread the defense and open up the run later. There will be at least three of us in green friday night. Good luck Wave.
