  1. You're welcome and my sincere apologies. It's unfortunate that someone else has the wrong information too and I trusted it.
  2. I may have my description of the play a little off, and didn't mean to sound like I was getting on the kid. I apologize. But to answer your question, it was the varsity scrimmage against Smith County, but later in the day when the two freshman teams came in for their first drive. White House took it down and scored and he was the quarterback on the drive and the scoring play.
  3. I assume that I have the play right by your description, but it was my assumption from the other end of the field, where I was watching, and from the later reports of others, that he was hurt diving in on the end of the run. If I remember, he went to the left of the line to score. Now let me be clear, I did not see the play up close. I took some of my information from another discussion. It's not fair for me to point a finger using someone else's info. I will gladly apologize and I do. Nothing meant against Parker. I hope for great things for him in the future.
  4. letsgodevils thinks Charlie Murphy is beginning to sound a lot like Allen Iverson. "I mean, we talking bout a game here and this is practice. It's a message board. Charlie Murphy gonna show up for game time, but you wanna talk about a message board? Man, it's just a message board, not the game. We talkin bout the game here and you wanna talk about a message board? Charlie Murphy ain't got no time to talk about a message board."
  5. Just for the record, the Lipscomb scrimmage cost us a lot, but it did not cost us Parker. Parker led a scoring drive against Smith County and then dove into the endzone on some sort of a bootleg, roll play and broke his collarbone, I believe it was.
  6. I hope everyone knows that I was not insulting the White House team with my post about Ladd running right and left. It was a tongue-in-cheek reply to the person from G'brier who said all we did was "Ladd right, Ladd left" about 95 percent of the time. My point is, like Greenbrier's game last week, Notre Dame might be surprised that our offense is not quite as simple as it looks. I'm not getting in the middle of this passing game stuff. If that trash mess starts again, I'll get out of here because it's not fair to those kids.
  7. I haven't looked at the bracket, but if you guys are at home, then Greenbrier losing and White House out of town means a bigger gate, right? I could see where that would be a benefit.
  8. Actually, I have already posted this once. I took it from the official stats on the White House site. Council AGAINST WHITE HOUSE had 22 carries for 69 yards in week seven. He did not have 117. That is a false number. Dallas had 31 for 166 yards, all the way back in week four when White House won its first game of the year. BUT... Hamby of Polk County had 13 for 29, one week after Notre Dame allowed him to get 100 yards. So I think all in all, it about cancels each other out.
  9. Actually, I was talking about the two plays...one for a 65-yard touchdown and the other for about 25 yards that set up the final touchdown. We only threw three, but I can't remember those being old faithful plays we have thrown all season... But you know, we're predictable and boring. EDIT: I was responding to a post that is no longer here. That's weird.
  10. Pearl-Cohn allowed him 18 carries for 86 yards, which was his third lowest of the season, as Portland and Page did better. But in the Pearl-Cohn game, Ricky also had 45 yards in returns and nine yards receiving, giving him 140 for the game. All this info is at the White House website. Kris has it all there for you.

  12. How did that turn out on those pass plays Friday night for you guys?
  13. SuperBowlDream, Don't take any offense. I'm just yanking your chain. You didn't bother me at all.
  14. I think what Kris' stats said last week was that at Polk, Ladd was indeed 93 percent of the offense, but that is the exception, not the rule. Sixty is a little closer number, but I think you will find that is accurate for many high school teams with a profile athlete. What often gets overlooked in those numbers is how well the players around him are a compliment. Don't get all upset if I'm giving you a hard time. I've watched White House football long enough to know that some surprises are coming, and it won't be as easy to prepare for as you think.
  15. Ladd actually has a number of different running abilities. Ladd right. Ladd left. Ladd straight. Ladd crooked. Ladd far. Ladd farther. Ladd, see you later. And to prove the earlier assumption, all other 10 guys stand on the field and watch. They don't block, they don't gap, they don't pull. They just stand on the field with tongues wagging and hearts pounding as Ladd runs right through the defense. Or left through the defense. It must be one or the other, right? I mean, left? Dang, now I'm confused. Has to be one of the two. I'll ask Justin West. He's not busy. He's over there by Hargrove eating sunflower seeds.
  16. Since you know so much about the White House offense, would you mind breaking down the blocking schemes, the fullback and mid-back gap blocks with three backs in the game, and the line play and formation alignments? Come on, be real. Ladd may get a high percentage of carries, but I have watched this team plenty enough to know that we do not stay in a particular formation all the time, and even when we do, every scheme changes. It's not as easy as run right, run left. That's low budget pee wee ball, and that ain't the way we do things in White House. We're the underdog. We'll see how it turns out. But don't be expecting us to run the same play 52 times.
  17. I want to say first, I posted the picture and still want to compliment our defense, although the picture is of a special teams play. My emphasis is on the tackle, and many of the guys who are in that play are also on defense, some starters. Now, for the comment about his feet still being on the ground... Do you realize how fast that play happened? That is a high speed camera that caught a fast play in stand still, it has to be. Because when he was hit, it was simultaneous. It was a team effort. It was not a one-man decleater. It's not an open-field, one on one shot. The Blue Devils defense has been playing as a better unit and that was my point. This picture is a good representation of what we have been seeing a lot of the last two weeks, even if this particular play was on special teams.
  18. Want to know why this White House team is still playing? They have learned how to play some serious defense in the last 2-3 weeks and every practice day seems to make them better. This picture says it all...what an awesome shot by Drew of the Connection, which is a local paper in White House by the Bargain Browser. Congratulations guys on a great season and awesome turnaround. We are proud of you. I'm not participating in this trash talk mess. It's stupid and annoying.
  19. Adv.23: I also remember Brian Jones going 45 for 245 yards against Portland in the playoffs with no Josh Lanius at quarterback, that was also Waggoner's start. He whipped Gerald Turner head to head and then Turner won Mr. Football two weeks later over him, but alas, the voting was done at that point I understand.
  20. How can the number be inflated when it counts as an official run? Now, inflated would be taking credit for something that actually did not happen. Ladd broke through for a 63-yard run, which is what I read in another thread officially, and the penalty on the play was DECLINED. The official spotted him out of bounds inside the 10. He held the ball over his head to signify the end of the first half, with the spot still in the same place. This all after the official signaled to the box to decline the penalty. Since he didn't score, then this run did not affect the outcome of the game, but it STILL COUNTS. That's THE RULES. So, next are you all going to tell me that quarterbacks should get rushing yardage back when they take a kneel on three straight plays to end the game? A stat is just a stat but you have to call it like the chains are measured. You can't add and subtract yardage just to be politically correct. And the main stat that matters was divided by seven points.
  21. OK, then let's look it up. Kris has all the stats available right there for you. Five losses (contained?) vs. Greenbrier: 17 for 121, 1 TD, 2 catches, 19 yards, 2 KR, 35 yards vs. Pearl-Cohn: 18 for 86, 1 TD, 1 catch, 9 yards, 2 KR, 45 yards vs. Portland: (3rd game with ankle) 15 for 65, 0 TD vs. F-Simpson: (2nd game with ankle) 19 for 93 (lost two big runs on penalties), 0 TD vs. Page: (first game back) 8 for 30, 1 TD, 2 catches, 45 yards, 1 KR, 52 yards So in those five losses, he rushed for 395 yards on 77 carries, an average of 5.06 yards per rush, three of those games on a nagging ankle. Was he held from breaking their backs? Yes. Was he contained? No. The Page game can't even count, he didn't run it enough and still had a 52-yard return.
  22. You want to know what is impressive, if you would bother to know the facts? Ladd has played nearly every down on the football field this year, after being just an offensive back and kick returner only for the majority of last season. He ran behind six seniors last season, including two tight ends, and was handed the ball by a senior quarterback who threw for as many yards as Ladd ran for. But just to tell you how impressive this year's feats were....that team from 2004 never even played a close game until losing by six points in week 14. No other game's margin was in single digits. They were efficient and scored countless points. Ladd was out of many games by the third quarter. This year, at the close of 10 games, he is JUST LESS THAN 100 YARDS from his week 10 stats a year ago, scoring more touchdowns in an offense that has no passing attack and very few weapons, and SCORES LESS as a whole, with a patchwork line that is not only full of new players, but half of them have been hurt all season. He has played four quarters in every game but one, DeKalb County, when he could have padded stats but carried only eight times and still got 180 yards. He is a leader on defense, returns kicks and punts, and played in no scrimmages or jamboree then played the first three weeks with an ankle injury. You put last year's factors with this year's Ladd, and you have a 2,000-yard back in the regular season alone.
  23. You may think the site looks a lot better than White House, and you may be right, considering the software used to make your site is some sort of flash player, while Kris keeps it pretty basic. But other than some photos, video and a roster, there is absolutely no detailed information about the football team on the site. No recaps, no links to newspapers, no history, no stats. I feel like I know a TON about White House football from the past few years, and I didn't see a lot of that history myself. I am just a fan, but looking at our site, you can find out everything you need to know to learn about the White House football program, facilities and team. That's a HUGE benefit to me because it's my connection into the program outside of sitting in the stands. If you're working on a dial-up internet connection, then video and flash isn't that impressive, I'd rather see some stuff to tell me more about it, but that's just me. Kris, you do a good job, keep it up. Polk County, you have an impressively set up site, but wish I could find out more.
  24. Nah, I'm just an old man who loves my White House Football. I am a Nashville work transplant to White House and I have no kids there, I'm just a football fan and now this is my home and I love it. I am thankful that I have been able to see the program build from the 1980s to now. I don't go way back, but from looking at the history, it appears that the decades past were full of struggles before this modern-day run. There's something special there. I have family that lives in other states and they can't believe high school football is this big here, they just don't understand.
