  1. I thought I saw in the paper that both Cline and Chambers played in their last game. Did Cline get hurt in the game ? If so how? How bad ? Was Chambers sick before, during , or after the game ? Are both players out for the Cloudland game ?If these players are out who will replace them? Will their replacements be good enough to win games with ?
  2. If this is true, GOOD FOR NED, it's about time! One problem down ,One to go. Again, "IF" this is true.
  3. Scoutman if what I heard is true you better be in politically or your family better have money if your child is going to play. We have a problem at Cloudland altough it's of a different nature. The reason I'm on this thread is to ask you scoutman a question. Judging by your user name you must see all of the area teams play, if you had a child playing where would you send him? Keep in mind it's a long way to every where from the Roan.
  4. Logic is all over this one! Scoutman you just have to see it to believe it. Team rules, or should I say a lack there of, don't seem to apply to everyone. Players quit, come back, quit ,come back, quit ,come back. Players talk back to the "coach" and nothing is ever done. All the while the determned hard working players are used as fill in players until these coaches favorites decide to come back from their "vacation" and again they are politely pushed aside. I could go on and on but I get sick to my stomach every time I think about this. You get the idea!
  5. Again LOGIC, you are right on the money, but i don't think anything will be done about the problem we are having. It looks like it's going to take the "walk out" that everyone's talking about. I just wish it didn't have to come down to this. We will be the laughing stock of the county. Sometimes drastic circumstances call for drastic measures I guess.
  6. Randy Birchfield. He is the one that built the program to start with. When he stepted down he left Ned with a full house, from the freshmen class to the junior class, he had the foundation laid for a solid program for years to come. How did he do this? DICIPLINE! It takes a lot of work and time to build a program but it don't take long to tear one apart. I don't think Tolly or Cooke would be part of a Randy Birchfield coached team. I know they wouldn't last a week with Luncford. Please give credit where credit is due Randy built these teams.
  7. Amen. I started to drop this topic because no one seemed to see eye to eye with me so I decided to let everyone see for themselves. No offense including you King now what can be done to fix the problem. It is just a matter of time before we lose our entire quote "PROGRAM".Tolley has got to go and now because the players are mad and fans are mad as well as parents. We will probably be lucky to fill a team next year at this rate if what I hear from other parents is true.Maybe it is time we seek some help from our principal and board members to resolve this problem before it escalades into a serious unfixable situation that cannot be resolved and we become strictly a football school. Its time for Coach Smith and His Assistant to quit making the players excuses and grow up and coach like men. This is my last post on this topic because like everyone in Roan Mountain community we are sick of the whole situation. To you rainman we will trade coaches with you at Unaka anyday and even throw in Tolley and Cooke to boot.
  8. Well I'll tell you this we'd love to have the whole staff. We'll trade all three of them for the staff we have up here on the Roan. We'll pack the gym so full you won't be able to hear him. That's what we want! You people are crazy.
  9. hvwarrior, Let's just say I,m very close to the team and "program". I have stated in earlier post how the players feel, and yes Jerry could fix the proublem.
  10. hvwarrior, That was his first job as a head coach and it was only for a year. I think he would love to prove that with the proper coaching and set of rules a program , not just a season , can be built. The people of this community are ready for this!
  11. I hope so. I would love to see him at Cloudland. Jerry would stop the "Tolly does as he wishes" crap and build a program, not just a season. I don't know why I bother, I have seen enough to turn my stomach this past month, and you ALL know what I'm talking about.
  12. Thank you hvwarrior you understand what I am saying. Please refraim from joking and making light of this subject for the rest of you. I am waiting to see what those who have control are going and willing to do to resolve this problem and injustice to true Roan Mountain student athletes.
  13. Please, I know this site is fun for most, but there is a serious problem here. Krich I expeted ,you for one ,to have a valued opinion on this.Lets stick to the subject here on this one.
  14. First of all, know that I am a true Lander. And my concerns are with the overall success and longevity of the program. Someone mentioned in an earlier post about the prisoners running the jail, I would have to agree. You can't let players quit, come back, quit, come back, quit and come back. We all know Robbie has had a three year history of this, but that's just one of the problems. I have watched players go through the junior high program, put in all the time in practice,- and these are kids from this community that I'm talking about,- only to see the administration sit idly by while PLAYERS from Avery County, who have NO community ties, waltz in and take our kids valuable playing time. Helmethead, you may be on to something. And yet, what did we gain from this? A conference titile? No. A district title? No. A regional title? No. A substate berth? No. A state tournament appearance? No. Only to watch these same players leave the school after basketball season to go back home to Avery County, not even having the decency to graduate at Cloudland. Who's responsible for this? Looks to me like the coach would take it upon himself to run a straight-up program, if he really is sincere about having a "program". How do the administrators let this go on year after year, and sit back and claim to be in it for the kids and community? I don't see it. Now to you, Fan, if you are the Cloudland supporter you claim to be, you know I'm right on this one, and you will quit making excuses for the "win at all cost" coaches and administrators because a long-term program is what we want, not just a quick fix here and there. We are the laughing stock of the County because of our lack of discipline. I won't be addressing you anymore on this subject because I feel you are a child, and I want to keep this discussion open to adults and people in positions to correct this terrible wrong.
  15. Hvwarror,do we want a successful program? YES who doesn't?Do the ones that count care? That is my question also all the way down to the coach! How do they feel?{1}Students, We have a great student following but we are talking about young people here I don't think they really know whats going on in this situation.{2}Adminstration, Well that remains to be seen. I hope SOMEONE steps forward on this issue for the kids and players sake.{3}Players, They really don't like what is going on. How can you blame them?{4}Football and Basketball get along, They get along just fine, as a matter of fact , I would say we have more cross over players than anyone in the county. I hope this can be taken care of soon! Any answers out there?
  16. Please, lets not make a joke out of this topic. We have some serious problems at Cloudland. I just wanted to know if I was the only one who has picked up on all of this? If we loose the heart of our program {several of our better players} due to lack of discipline, how can our program ever be built? I just don't think coach Smith has given the entire program, present and future, much thought. Come on Lander faitful don,t turn a blind eye to this, our program and it's future are at serious risk here! Thoughts on this?
  17. Spin. from what I gather from the players Robbie skips ALL summer work-outs ,camps ect. ,and All pre-season practices yet still gets to play more than the other boys on the team. And from what I gather don't be supprised to see several players walk before this season is over or really gets started for that matter. Why should the other players put in all the time yet never get to play? This is wrong and Ned can bet the players know what is going on!
  18. That remains to be seen. Last season Tolley sure was a "fireball" in the pre-season, yet he started most every game. How do the other players on the team respond to his absence, time after time after time, just to see him show up and suit up at the last minute? Ned must be a psychologlical genious to be able to pull this off. If my son played for that team, I'd remove him. What do the highlander faithful think of this situation, and how do you put up with it? Does Lunsford deal with his kids in the same manner? I don't think so.
  19. How did this one go ? Did Tri Cities scrimmage Hampton?
  20. RealDeal who did you see the Unaka Ranrers play this summer? How did they look ? What was the score? Did your team play them?
  21. How do the teams stack up this year ?List in order and why.
  22. Ebbdawson did you get to see the North Green or University High games when they played Unaka ? Just how good did Unaka look? Can they compete in ROUND BALL IN THE HALL ?
