you insinuated that i was portraying them as something they’re not. same thing lol

well to be accurate, you did not say duals either.  So you can be more clear with me, I never said you lied.   you insinuated they were scared to put their record at risk.  LOL.  better?

i didn’t say they were scared lol i said that dual streak is a big case of stat padding. which it is by definition. 95%+ of those are wins are against lesser competition. that’s stat padding. i also said that they don’t venture out to bigger dual tournaments elsewhere, which they don’t, and that they are content staying home and wrestling instate teams mostly..which based on my last 2 points, they are. i told no lies.

I will take your tack on this, I never said you lied.

    They're talking specifically duals.

I figured that would be the response.  But they still seem less scared than what is being portrayed on here by Bump11.  They do bring in duals teams from other states for their tournament, but why would we consider that?  It seems to me that other Tennessee teams would want a shot at wrestling against Cleveland and getting better.

yeah, guess if you are going to pick something boast about something like that is the way! I haven't seen many states do duals state for the girls team so I guess it's always good to find something most no one else has the ability to do. I mean you do you!

do not forget, the boast of 135 straight wins!  Heck, there are many reasons to hate on them.

I hate that they always say this in their stories. "Last year, the teams made history by becoming the first to win both the duals and the traditional TSSAA Class AA State Tournament. This achievement marked the first time it has happened in the country. Building on this success, the teams have had the opportunity to travel and grow on a national level by competing in tournaments in Florida, Indiana, and Pennsylvania this season."

It only takes a few seconds of research to see it has been done previously at least in short research by Allen High School in Texas, they first did it in 2021 and also in 2022 and 2023. It's great they did it in Tennessee, especially for how long the program has been together!

It looks like you might just be kinda right.  Allen TX did have the traditional championship wins together, but I did not see where they won both duals as well.

There are no section champs  just section winners as it stands today .  You would first have to determine section champs , after you did that then the Draws for which Section Champ wrestlers another section runner up would need to be random which would still provide a very real possibility for the two best teams being on the same side , they would wrestle each other in the Semis vs the 1st round, potentially.

yes, this is what I believe as well, the potential for a bad draw still will exist each year.

I want to point out a few things.

    1. Enough folks complained about the ridiculousness of a 16 man bracket being wrestled over the course of 3 days and now we have a 2 day tournament again. I do think if the T$$AA received enough complaints they would adjust the criteria next year. I mean they already changed it from last year with you now have to not only have placed last year to be seeded but you now also have to win your region and section duals. I’m sure that changed because folks complained about section winners being seeded that didn’t win their region duals. So I’m optimistic they would listen if enough people voiced their dissatisfaction.

The reason it should make sense is that some regions are way less talented than say a region with Cleveland and Bradley (in the good ole days, not this year).  I mean in regards to people complaining about the seeding after the sectionals were put in place.  To me the sectionals were to eliminate the losers and allow more competitive state duals brackets (and time).

if i was to seed this years, this would be my bracket. Flipped the 3/6 and 4/5 matchups to avoid region foes meeting before the finals.

    1. Cleveland vs 8. Arlington

    3. Brentwood vs 6. Halls

    4. Dobyns vs 5. Bradley

    2. Summit vs 7. Bartlett

That is a good point, but I do not think that is what werasslin was saying.

what I read was that there would be a winner slotted to compete against some predetermined position from some region.  So, pick the regions winners and the runner ups , or however you want to describe who gets in and slot them.

To be honest, I cannot imagine that this would consistently be a good way to do it either.  Or maybe I misunderstood what werasslin means.

Here is the deal. The coaches can make suggestions to have in state rules changed. Type them up and present them at the coaches meeting.

suggest that tssaa change to year by year seeding for the dual championship.

I would rather see it in writing up front.. like they do with football bracket or basketball bracket. ex. section 1 champ goes on this line. section 2 champ goes on this line. section 3 runner up goes on this line. that will stop all the debate as everyone will know where they fall.

I would like to see that demonstrated on this years draw.  let us see what it would mean in real time versus what we have now.  I suspect that this suggestion would sometimes work and sometimes not work, based on how well a team performs each year.

i see what you’re trying to do here lol and while you’re not wrong, you and i both know the situations are nothing alike.

He said one person could not get something done.  This was a pretty big deal when they changed from the Roundhouse to the cow patty palace, all because the UTC Mocs had an ESPN game and rolled the wrestlers right out of their tournament.

Same tournament we are talking about!  okay, it is a reach, and great job calling me on it!

That's absolutely, 100%, unequivocally wrong, It will take everyone. One person cannot get the tssaa to change the way they look at our sport.

Not everything in life is fair, i get it. But until we ALL come together and decide we ALL want things like this to stop happening it'll just continue to happen. I've been pushing for years to get the seeding criteria changed. But I'm a nobody. There's power with the PEOPLE, not in the person.

one person got the tournament into the Cow Palace.  So there is that example.

Bradley Bears and Cleveland Raiders do not ride buses together anymore. That would be a bad idea. It would cause a fight. I guarantee it. Do you want to bet me? I am Captain Guru and I approve this message.

You know very little.  I guarantee it.  Do you want to bet me?

That is what happened to this match Bradley Bears and Cleveland Raiders do not like each other very much. I guarantee it. Bradley Bears and Cleveland Raiders are arch enemies and do not want each other to do any good. I am Captain Guru and I approve this message.

The enemies part is only for the local matches.  Way back, the teams use to ride the same bus together to matches up north I-75.  Tell them @StarRaider

@noonesfool, you understand me.  Yes, we still both visit the board and comment when appropriate!

@StarRaider Not a real Texan for sure.  Heck, I do not even live there anymore, after 22 years of it.  Great to hear from you too!  Old Raiders never die.

I am assuming it was because we won the state in the division last year. Since Hall’s moved into the division we were already in, we got the one seed. Also might have been because we won the previous 5 and Halls was only a champ last year. I don’t know, either way, they definitely don’t seem to have a system in place that is good for accurately seeding the tournament.

If Halls was seated number one this year, the exact same people would be writing the exact same thing about the TSSAA.
