  1. Then why run and hide every time a good private moves into your classification. Lipscomb, DCA, CPA, and Goodpasture would love to play you and show you where you stand on the food chain since you were so apt to do it against RBS. And I'm sure they'll handle your butchering of the word "quite" very well also. Your referring to CPA before they became a powerhouse, or even a good team, anyways. The beating you all received was a bit more legit.
  2. Classless. I agree with some of the previous posters' sentiments that Trousdale and their program runs, hides, and cries foul at the terrible, mighty private schools who could have beaten them by 60 but finds no problem in doing this to a severely undermatched team. Three quarters of the teams in this state could do that to RBS but doesn't, there are many ways to hold a score down and don't tell me Satterfield didn't know it. Shameful. I wonder how Satterfield got a wink of sleep last night, because if he did, he ought be fired effective immediately, but I dought that'll happen given that program's track record.
  3. There are definately some interesting scores on these teams' resumes and I don't think comparative scoring can go in this game. for instance: Ezell 45-East 17 DCA 21-Ezell 7 but.... Goodpasture 38-DCA 10 East 49-GP 46 I honestly don't know, but I'll pick DCA since they are at home and have beaten East the last two years(although they didn't play well in either victory)
  4. I have this prodding feeling telling me to go with CPA on this one. CPA can stop the run very well, and GP is very limited in the passing game, although if you don't stop their run, it could get ugly. If CPA limits turnovers, I see them scoring enough to win and get in the playoffs. Remember 2003, the Lions are tough to beat when their on the ropes.
  5. I haven't seen Ezell this year, so I'm excited to see how improved they really are. Being a consensus two TD favorite to beat a team with the same record that beat them by 40 last year is quite the turnaround. And, though I haven't seen Ezell, I agree that they should pull it out just by looking at comparative wins and losses.
  6. Scores from Tonight: Ezell 55 CPA 52 4OT DCA 24 Fairview 17 East Robertson 49 Goodpasture 46 FRA 28 Harpeth 14 Anybody got predictions for the rest of the season for this league? Who wins it? Big game next week with DCA/Goodpasture showdown. Who wins that?
  7. I have not seen Fairview, but if they can't be two-dimensional, then they have no shot at beating DCA. FRA had the leading rusher in the midstate and he was held to miniscule yards by DCA because they couldn't pass and DCA could stack the box and utilize their good linebacking group to focus on run stuffing. I know Fairview played goodpasture and Ezell this year, but I don't know that they've played a QB as good as Trammel. He was the leading passer in the Midstate before the bye week pushed him down a few notches. Fairview is a good team and I don't mean to disrespect them by picking a DCA 3 TD victory but I think that will be what happens for the previously stated reasons.
  8. DCA has looked mighty impressive since their sloppy performance in the loss to CPA. I'm not sure how Fairview will respond to DCA's passing dominated offense. DCA by 20.
  9. Statistics-wise, it is Tramel(#1 Passer in MidState) and Oakley(#1 WR in MidState) of DCA. Kostadine and Tate of JPII are also a noticeably potent connection.

  11. DCA won easily 38-7 and played lots of reserves in the second half. They ran the ball at will led by #31 Ryan Fields and #43 Trent Walker. Their QB Tramel also threw for 3 TDs. Their line play was the best all year for them by far. They dominated the line of scrimmage and pushed FRA back all night. #70 is a beast of a lineman and is probably DCA's best one in only his Sophomore year. I supply some stats later.
  12. After tonight's performance, Josh Tramel is now the Midstate's leading passer, edging out Michael Mikrut of Franklin. Derek Oakley is also the leading receiver in the Midstate. And Jason McCreary is in the top seven receivers. DCA's passing game is putting up big numbers.

Aaron Basescu: 0-0 4-5 4 Big game from Tramel. DCA was on tonight on offense. TD passes of 48, 75, 65, 60, and 15 from Tramel and all of them were long bombs that were right on the numbers. Last week, he was plagued with overthrows and underthrows but he was extremely accurate tonight. Oakley had 4 catches for 132 yards and 3 TDs and Jason McCreary had 4 catches of his own for 147 yds and 2 TDs, including an amazing juggling catch over a taller corner on the 75 yard TD. Lots of players saw lots of time. Davidson looked impressive. They ran almost the exact same offense as Boyd Buchanan ran last year, only not quite as well. Overstreet is a good running quarterback and Yarbrough and Easely are good running backs that are hard to bring down. They have good recievers that don't get the ball enough in Hopper and Hancock. Aaron Hermann and Eric Davis are also good players in the trenches. They also easily outweighed DCA with their good sized linemen. Good luck to Paul Wade and his staff this season because they have a nice looking team this year.
  14. The difference, BAeaglesfan, between 2A football and Super Seven football is certainly less than the difference between 1A football and RIVERDALE, which was the case last year in the game when Riverdale was LOSING 14-13 to CPA midway through the first half of that game last year. That game was close at half, close after three and was virtuallly closer than 20 throughout. Keep in mind last year's Riverdale team was considerably better than this MBA team. I am not saying that CPA will win, as they lost a huge amount of talent to big time college football from last year, but some of your are being ignorant in your arrogance. And to respond to the above post, I am in no way related or affiliated with the CPA program so "y'all" does not apply to me.
  15. Like someone else said, CPA didn't play any of their offensive or defensive starters in the BA scrimmage. And by the way, weren't some on here predicting CPA to get blown out by mighty Riverdale last year? My Prediction: MBA 31-20
  16. Quick question, does anyone know when CSS replays their Friday night games? I think I might want to see how this one turned out on TV, and I know they replay them, I just forgot when. Thanks in advance.
  17. I have nothing to add, DP, great game and a worthy ending to DCA's win streak. Players I like: Harrison from CPA, House from CPA, Worden from DCA, and Trammel from DCA. Great comeback by CPA, congrats on the win.
  18. It is a rivalry game, it won't be a blowout.
  19. I would if I knew how. To be honest, I just typed that name on my profile because nobody else had it, and I regret it because I get so many comments about my name, but whatever. Anyways, the Bucs line was easily the biggest DCA has faced since I have been keeping up with them for the past three years, and I was surprised at how DCA's young linemen actually got the better of them. Tramel had a very good rushing game for a pocket/shotgun passer. He ran three times for extremely crucial first downs and all three times he was hit hard and stayed on his feet. I didn't realize how stout he was for a guy only about 6-1.
  20. LINK-DCA vs BERKELEY PREP STATS AND RECAP DCA wins with another fourth quarter drive this week, 12-7, over Berkeley Prep School from Tampa, Florida. Berkeley is a very good team that scored 70 points on a couple of different occasions last year, but the conditions and a resilient DCA defense hogtied them tonight. DCA also held the ball for over 30 minutes, keeping the ball from the Berkeley offense. The key was DCA's line going toe-to-toe with the much bigger line of Berkeley. Jim Barrie, a 6-5, 311 pound OT for Berkeley, who is headed to Florida State next year, never got untract and DCA's speed on defense was to much for Berkeley's massive big men. DCA was plagued with fumbles tonight, losing 3 of them. The ball was very slippery and Berkeley had some problems holding on to the ball as well. DCA was down seven at halftime after an 85 yard TD run by one of Berkeley's alternating tailbacks but scored on a drive in the third quarter highlighted by runs from Ryan Fields(23 carries, 182 yards, 2 TDs) and Jeremy Worden(8 carries, 39 yards and a very long run called back as well). A missed extra point put DCA down by one with one quarter to go. With 3 minutes remaining in the game, DCA tried a delayed handoff to Ryan Fields on third down. Fields, who was hurting from cramps, was seemingly swallowed up by four surrounding Buccaneers. He somehow miraculously spun out and made a brilliant cut and , 30 yards later was inside the ten. He would go on to punch it in and DCA held on to win 12-7 in what I consider to be an upset. DCA is playing very well considering they lost 18 Seniors and have only 3 returning total starters. Their run game and defense were outstanding tonight. Their passing game was held in check tonight but it is understandable because of the weather. Derek Oakley, who had 10 catches for 140 yards last week, was held to a measley 2 catches this week. If DCA can put together last week's potent passing attack with this week's deadly run game and resilient defense, DCA has a chance to do some things. Next week is CPA and it is on TV(CSS) so DCA will have to step up its game.
  21. Congrats Boyd, get em next time CPA. Good to see both teams fighting hard.
  22. DCA wins on drive in the 4th quarter fueled by a great catch and run by Derek Oakley followed by a long, weaving run by Ryan Fields. Fields finished it off by taking the draw and breaking a few tackles to get into the endzone. The extra point put DCA ahead to stay. Fields then made a miraculous interception of a deep ball. He twisted his body around and bobbled the ball but finally hauled it down as both he and the receiver fell to the ground in a heap. DCA took control and had the ball with a couple of minutes to go. On third down for DCA, Tramel fired a pass to the sideline to Seth Goodwin who shed one tackle and rolled down the sideline for about 20 more to seal the deal. DCA took a knee to run out the clock. JCS had taken the lead on a great punt return by #9 Sheffield. They got a great performance from their quarterback Will McDonald, who is tall, lanky, and a great dual threat. Think an exact replica of former DCA quarterback Jim Fenwick. He had a 44 yard TD run on 3rd and 14 in the first half to pull JCS to within 1. DCA has some definite problems on defense. They simply can't stop the run and were not good on 3rd down. Mobile quarterbacks are DCA's kryptonite as they found out last year with Joe Ruddle and Drew Akins running all over them. THe inexperienced linemen will mature as the year goes on. Don't get me wrong, the defense certainly isn't bad, they just gave up far too many big plays. They will get better. The offense did just fine, though. Look for DCA to pass alot this year. Oakley is a stud at WR and Fields is very effective in the open field. I think however that they should move Fields to WR opposite Oakley and #15(in a 3 WR set) and make Acker the man at tailback. Acker showed gobs of potential last year in the state title game. He didn't get a single carry all night, though and played some a Defensive End. I don't know if he is hurt or what, but if they are keeping him out for another reason other than that, then they are making a mistake. Tramel at quarterback, Fields,Oakley, Goodwin, and number 15 at WR, and Acker at running back is the lineup that will score a lot of points. Oh well, they did fine on offense tonight regardless I just thought that needed addressing. And give #21 the ball, too. He is only a sophomore and is the man of the future in the backfield. He did very good on kick returns and the occasional carry tonight. All in all, considering JCS is the #3 team in Class A, and this was the first game(DCA traditionally doesn't look so polished in the first game), I'd say it was a job well done. And hey! Two close games in a row! there hadn't been one for two years before the state title game last year. I'd forgotton how fun they were.
  23. CPA has a better tradition than Boyd, so I wouldn't get into that kind of argument if I were a Boyd fan.
