  1. Ensworth must be in a ritzy neighborhood. Goodluck to them in football. Are they competing in the playoffs since they only have 10th grade added then this year if I understand it from your post? Or will they wait and compete when all 4 grades are added?
  2. I am not sure how many St. Benedict lost. Last yr was the 1st yr in sometime that they had stepped up and I would think it would depend on who all they lost. BGA is always a good team and I don't know anything about Ensworth. I have not heard about any "greats" from Harding or ECS this yr but they could have some. From reading on this site on other posts, Pope John Paul looks to have a good team and Knoxville Webb has had some post too. So I guess it could be anybody but taking a wild guess I would say as follows: Pope John Paul BGA Knoxville Webb St Benedict ECS Harding Never heard of Ensworth so I just will put them last but hey maybe they are first, just don't know. I think that is all in Div 11 A since Briarcrest moved up.
  3. Rosemark lost Hanks as QB and Porter and Gish, 2 receivers. There are plenty of receivers left that are as good and got a couple good rRBs. Line is much bigger this year but Hammonds was lost and he was good. Got several QB's to fill for Hanks - will probably juggle some. I don't see much changing except got a bigger stronger line and perhaps not quite as much passing. Hanks had experience and was very good so his spot as far as passing will be hard to fill. But backup is good and I think will do the job for us. Byrne is always good with lots of speed and all. They are fun to play. FACS will do good and SBEC will be better. Don't know about Davidson and I think St. Georges will do good to.
  4. Hanks is one of them. We got several upcoming juniors and a senior or 2 that will most likely go with baseball even if it is small schools. Booker from FACS is a great athlete. His best sport is basketball but he is good at every sport due to his athleticism. The guy Crsdr is talking about is being looked at due to his size mainly I would think. But he is teachable or they would not be looking and giving any interest. Guess it does not matter long as he gets a scholarship. Not to say that others will not get small school scholoarships. Every team has a few good players that can play at the next level.
  5. Yeah that is true WayneCO68. We got several guys on our team that will get to play baseball at the next level that are seniors and juniors this coming season. Probably will be small colleges except maybe 1 or 2 of them but nonetheless they will get to play. Don't have many for football scholarships though but you never know who might step up or what some colleges may need so there is always that chance.
  6. Uhh, thats what the last post were talking about. The fact that the small schools usually only have 1 or 2 college level guys and that is why it is hard for them to compete with the larger schools that have many to choose from. It is what makes it hard for the small schools to play the big schools - read the posts and you'll understand. For Div 11 A I agree that Rosemark and Bishop Byrne will be good teams. FACS should be a competitor and I don't know anything about Davidson Academy except a little about some seniors they lost last year so I don't know but I believe they will be good also. St. Georges will have a good team and SBEC should be better this year than last. Byrne always has good players being close to MS line, and with their demographics they will always pick up good players from TN also. Rosemark lost Hanks, the QB, but I still think our team will compete well this year, both passing and running game. We have some very good seniors this year and quite a few juniors that are ready to step up. Rosemark does not play any region games until third week of schedule. Season will be here soon. Can't wait.
  7. That could be true but it would not be because they have higher level individual skilled players, or that the game would be played differently, but because they would have skilled players at EVERY position on the field with backups that are skilled also. The small schools, like Rosemark, would only have a few positions with highly skilled guys, just like our team last year that had an outstanding QB. Some of the Div 1 A schools we played told us that he was one of the best QB's they had played against even in the higher level classifications and when he played in Shelby/Metro Squads with players from all levels from every school, he was the best QB on the field. He just had no height to him for the college level and without having everything AND being from a DIV 11 A school AND having no help from a coach (he resigned after 1st year) then he was only looked at by lower level colleges. Besides he is also good at baseball and is getting a scholarship with baseball. For a Div 11 A player to get a Div 1 college scholarship it takes a little more work and they must have it all like height, speed, athleticism, etc. since the schools don't usually have coaches that make that a priority and they don't have the contacts ( their salary is nowhere compared with public or large privates) Also the Div 1 colleges don't come around to watch the games so if you want a scholarship you have to really work at it. My point is that a small school player could play WITH the teams you mention and be just as skilled as the teamates, but yes, playing AGAINST them they would loose most likely due to the number of skilled players. Just look at this topic - if you go back to the question of who is gonna win in all 3 categories - what do you see as the answers - the only schools mentioned are the DIV 11 AAA schools because that is all that anyone ever cares about or knows anything about. The large publics or the large money privates are always gonna be the schools that get media attention and therefore everybody that is interested in football are only going to see those names in print over and over so it makes it easy for everybody to know those schools. Nobody hardly ever mentions the small privates (and even less if in Div 11) and the media does not much either - so everybody thinks they don't have anybody that is good or a team that can play the game.
  8. I do not believe for one minuet that there is a drastic difference in skill LEVEL. There is a drastic difference in the NUMBER of skilled players since the D11 AAA and AA and most DI A - 5A schools have many more students which means they have more talent to use but from all the D11 A on up through D1 5A school football games that I have attended or watched on TV, it appears that the game is played the same way at all schools. I even bet that practices are all about the same too. The biggest difference is the number of skilled positions that are filled and the number of backups for each position. The "level" of playing and the skill that an athelete has is not determined by the TSSAA division they play in. When I read all the entries on Coach T and see that higher divisions think that they play the game in a whole different light from lower divisions I get angry. The quotes are always the same, they just can't keep up, they don't know what real footall is, there is no comparison, they need to come play with the big boys, etc, etc, etc. I guess all the players from any higher up division have been fed the line from their parents and coaches, etc. for so long that they really think they play the game differently than anybody else on earth.
  9. Both my son and I read the information from coach t often. Especially for football. My son plays for Tipton Rosemark Academy, a Div 11 - A school. It is a small Christian school in Shelby County. His sister is in the hospital. She needs everyones prayers if possible. She had a stroke. She is doing good and we hope to have a full recovery. Many prayers have been answered already and I know that God will continue to answer our prayers. There seems to be many people from east TN that use this site, so I hope that the entire football family of TN will pray for her a quick, full recovery. Her name is Priscilla. Thanks.
  10. Tipton Rosemark Academy needs both boys and girls head basketball coaches. Web site is tiptonrosemarkacademy.net. Job is posted on tssaa site under bulletin board.
  11. Brentwood and Briarcrest are playing now for the state championship. Does anyone know the score?
  12. Coacht, I hope your son is okay. I will pray for him and your family. Tipton Rosemark Academy Player
  13. Can someone update me on whats up with CoachT's son? I know he had some problems back in late November or so - is it a reoccurance or something new? Is it the same son? I don't know if he has more than 1 or not. thanks for the info.
  14. Coach Kelly at Tipton Rosemark Academy. He is all fundamentals and defense. Great Coach I think. We got a very, very young inexperieced team this year but give it a year or 2 and I think Coach Kelly will have us competing right along in Division 11 - small school division. I have had a lot of coaches in my life but Coach Kelly is the best basketball coach I have ever had.
  15. What is considered a good time for you true big linemen in highschool. We have played against some teams that have big linemen that can move and against some that have big linemen that cannot move. Some can move their feet side to side pretty good but can't move fast enough to get thru the line for sacks. What do you think is a good time?
  16. We intend to go back to state again in 2005 in Div 11 A - Tipton Rosemark Rebels.
  17. I think that in Div 11 A the teams to contend with for next year will be Bishop Byrne as always and Davidson Academy will be a new team that we don't know much about but they seem to have a pretty good record. I have no idea how many seniors, etc. though they are loosing since they have not been in our division before. St Georges will also be a good team I think. They have been in our division but have not played anything but JV ball since their beginning. St Andrews stepped it up a little this year and might if they step up that much again another year they too will be better than usual. Kings Academy has played better this year and could be a force though they have not competed in the playoffs before but I think they are to begin next year. I don't think SBEC will be a real force until yr after next giving their young team another year to build. FACS had all starters except one back in their last game and lost it but on a given night they could be a force. A lot will return next year for them so just have to see. Tipton Rosemark will not have their quarterback that has been so good for them but backup will be good. Line will be much larger for next year and got some good backs so they should still be a competitor with any team next year.
  18. Where were you for the Clinic Bowl picks? Just wondering.
  19. anybody got any scores on this game?
  20. Our coach told us who made the 1st and 2nd teams All-Region. We are Div 11.
  21. Well if youv are 43 yrs old then you should know that the score Sir, did not do the game justice. It was 18 to 14 until last of 3rd quarter then 2 interceptions back to back sealed the game. It was a good game and could have went either way up till 3rd quarter late. Their secondary was just better than ours - that is all she wrote. And yes I did think that you were a player cause they talk trash all the time to us - usually a 43 yr old doesn't do that much trash talking like - " it wasn't much of a game" . If you were there and saw the whole game then you know that unless you just don't know much about football. Either way, we got there!
  22. Well Harding is good. That will help some anyway.
  23. Thanks Crusader. Coach Grannon has a lot of good atheletes and he did have a good schedule. I hope we do get a better schedule for next year but I don't know how our new coach will do with that. I don't know his take on it. It wa s a great experience for us and I am glad we got to go and the game today was good even though awful conditions with slippery field and rain. We held on till 4th quarter and then 2 interceptions alomost back to back that got ran in was the death of us. We are okay though cause were proud we made it and hope to do it again. Good luck to you to Crusader and again Thanks.
