If folks want to bring up the past, we can bring up the past....1983...Historic Freed Field...Trenton. Tn...We (Union City) had just beaten the Golden Tide 13-12 in a tough, hard fought game...We get on the bus to go home and all heck broke loose...Sounded like bombs going off... Windows in the bus breaking, glass flying everywhere...Come to find out Peabody fans or students pelted the bus with bricks...Could have seriously injured or even killed somebody on that bus... I'm sure UC will be ready for Peabody this season...

I think it's valuable to scrimmage against bigger schools...Those kids play against better competition and bigger, stronger, faster kids...They are kind of shell-shocked a little when they play us, figuring we are 1A and won't give them much of a game...Any time you can compete against that type of team it's a bonus...It will also help when we transition back up to 2A...JMO...I'm really interested how we do in the dress rehearsal vs Haywood County at the Dburg Jamboree... Anyway, GO TORNADOES !!!

Munford was a 5A state playoff participant the last two years, winning 15 games...Both seasons ending with losses vs Henry County... We got to play a bunch of guys and had no injuries that I've heard of so that is a plus... The scrimmage with East Hickman and Ripley is supposed to start at 6pm tonight...

I think I read East Hickman...Dburg Jamboree is vs Haywood Co this year ?...

It's been called the "mid-line veer" ever since Bowling came to the area...They also run a "pistol" out of it...Im sure you can call it whatever you want...All I know is is that it works and its hard to stop...

I've said that for years...It's hard to stop now but with a legitimate threat of a passing game it would be unstoppable...That's why Georgia Tech and Navy have so much success with it at the college level...

NCS will pretty much just restock talent lost....Dresden will be good but they haven't proven they can beat UC...UC is going to be very strong...

You can't talk 1A and not have Union City in the mix...

You guys mentioned injuries, baseball and soccer that kept players out...Are any of the injuries looking to be serious enough to keep kids out in the Fall and how will the Allen kid leaving for McCracken Co., Ky. affect us ? Looks like we did well against bigger schools during the Spring...Saw where we were going to scrimmage Waverly, East Hickman and play in the Jamboree in Dyersburg in the preseason...Going back to boot camp in Columbia as well...

He's out of position...He's better off the ball...Not a PG...The teams that win at the highest levels have a true PG...We don't have one...DI level coaches know better than the average lay person and that's why he gets the offers...That and his work on AAU teams...What he is doing at the HS level is a moot point...Whatever he is showing against the real ballers when surrounded by real ballers is what is getting him the looks... Say what you want about the Stewart kid but he is a good ball player... He is playing out of position out of need for the team...He is getting recruited by DI schools... UC not winning a state championship since 2008 is a true statement... UC hasn't won a sub-state game in Memphis...0-4 if memory serves...They did beat Middleton on the road in a sub-state game... UC didn't win last year because they didn't have a true point guard and they don't this year either...Someone that QBs the team, doesn't have to score but gets everyone in the right position and that can handle the ball and not get frustrated and turn the ball over when heavily pressured... Mitchell has ended UC's season the last two years...This is a tough task...Nobody left playing in the state (1A) has a tougher game to play with the same circumstances...Halls has a challenge but they are playing at home...If BTW and Mitchell both win tonight they will play again in Murfreesboro for the championship... Before we crown Halls as "the team to beat in district 14a" they are going to have to get over that losing to Union City 23 straight times thing....

Union City lost to the host school, Forrest City, Ark., in the Rumble on the Ridge Tournament tonight 72-57...The Tornadoes will play Saturday afternoon at 3PM against East Poinsett County, Ark. for 3rd place....

First off, I want to say how proud I am of the Union City Golden Tornado football team...What a run !!!...38 games...It's tough to lose anytime byt especially in the playoffs... I waited until today to post because immediately after the I got home from work Friday night I started hearing about the antics of some of the players in Peabody's team in the visitor's locker room...I wanted to make sure what I was hearing was true before I went off on a rant that was unwarranted and then would have to backtrack and apologize...Since, I have found out what I had been hearing was true...Since I have found out that Trenton's head coach has sent a letter of apology to our school and our head football coach Darren Bowling...So now I wonder if TP's head coach will have the backbone to suspend the players involved...These players are in still pictures and also videos...It won't be hard to tell who they are...This has been going on the last two years on this football team and the coaches are allowing their need to win over shadow the need to instill discipline on a group of players that should not be a part of a proud football program such as Trenton Peabody High School... GO TORNADOES !!!...WE WILL BE BACK !!!

Simply put, after the Dresden game they didn't play anybody...They would have won those games without Malone...
