Pounders, I know you will read this during school and/or before traveling, so I am here to tell you, no one gives you a chance in heck to win this game. We all know that, but each of you know in your hearts how good you are this year. Last year, or the last three years that Maryville has been great doesn't matter, it all comes down to tonight. Who is the better team on the field tonight. I believe it is the pounders. If you believe that in your hearts and play with pride, these boys won't know what hit them when we walk away with a victory. Go down there and block out the crowd and the history, and the haters, and just play like the pounders that you are. And know that on your best game, athlete for athlete, you guys can beat Maryville, but it will take your best TEAM effort you have ever put together. If it was an individual game, athlete for athlete, hands down you win, but unfortunately, this is a team game, and if you individual athletes come together as a team, you win this game. There should be no plays where anyone didn't give their all because if you do, you will have everyday for the rest of your lives to regret not doing what you could have done. From the pounders to you rebels, WE READY, WE READY, WE RE-A-DY, FOR YALL!!! GO POUNDERS!!

qb, i think ur right, they haven't beaten anyone with a winning record this year. I'm not sure on east ridge, but they made the playoffs. I guess that means they are primed for one. First time for everything. No time like the present. What a team to start with?

purplepounder, u have just as much of a right to be on here as anyone. This site is for the fans, not the assistant coaches or the players anyways. Everyone is on here to state their opinions and you do it just as well as everyone else. For cornbread to say he is someone that helps out, but he can speak for the players that u see and talk to everyday and school. I think you have a better bead on what the players are feeling than a friday night volunteer., or even the assistant coaches for that matter. Let this continue to be what it is please, a good place for FANS to come in and state their opinion. As far as my comments earlier, I am sorry if it sounded like I was saying Chatt Central's "program" is on the level of Maryville's. There is no way. I just believe personally that we as good a team as they are THIS year when we are healthy and clicking on all cylinders. So sorry if I offended the Maryville legacy cause no one can take away from what you guys HAVE DONE. We are just here to try and stop it fromk happening this year. IF we win, we can definitely say we have beaten the best. IF not, we were beat by the best. Cleveland was overrated this year, but they beat us so we can't talk. But knox west got off good cause they had some key players out because of that big fight. They are never a sorry team. Region 4-4A is still and always will be probably the toughest conference in the state. But it is Wednesday, hump day. Two days to gameday, Rebels, the pounders are coming to play!! what is it with this conditioning thing? Has central been known to be out of shape and lack depth? I must be watching a different central team. no one starts both ways except for the occasional wide receiver db and they have a superior off season conditioning program, so maryville count on that to win and u will lose this one. chatt central is a good team, good athletes, good coaching. maryville has been at the level central is right now for a long time, they recruit their talent, so they keep em coming...so yes while all other teams are good one yr bad the other, maryville recruiting keeps them good everyyear, but this year, central and a couple of other teams are just as good, maybe not next year, but this year, there is that chance. so take this game lightly if u want, and see if u don't get ur head busted. as far as u boys from central, know that next yea u may not have this opportunity to play with maryville, but let no one sell u short this year, u can play with them, and on ur best game, u can beat them. GO POUNDERS! in a squeaker by 4 key player #2 woods...he is the wild card, as he goes, so does the game. we know joe will be there and davenport and medlock, hambrick, but when he brings his game, things change. Hogs got to pull it out and d line gotta make some plays.

I think the best coach is a guy that is a free agent right now. I don't know where he is, but his name is Coach Richardson, central high school last year. He was the defensive coordinator and he did a great job. He had the respect of kids as well as other coaches, and if i were still playing, I'd play for him. He knows what he is doing and he brings the intensity on friday nights, trust me. Wherever you are, uncled, we need you if we are going to win it all, and especially to beat maryville.

I have listened to what everyone has said, and took it into consideration, but being close to the central program, here is some things u don't know from the outside looking in...ever since tyner, central has been playing quite shorthanded. Tyner saw one of the best players in the state go down, as well as some players get dinged up. After tyner, we have had players healing and have been running a limited offense to allow players to heal. so yes we have been finding a groove of what works against teams and being conservative on offense to just try to escape with a win leaving the game up to our defense...sometimes giving the other team a short field to work with. The central team has not been this healthy all season since heading into tyner, only minus hayes. right now for the first time in weeks, the offensive playbook is wide open and no hold backs, cause this could be it and our core on offense is finally healthy. defensively, we will be able to match up with maryville as well as apply some pressure. this defense has not been allowed to just put on a defenswive clinic in a while and not win the game for the offense, now it's a full team, and i'll take a healthy pounder team against any team in the state. We may come away losers in this game, but maryville will walk away knowing they played a good team that matches them physically and athletically. the edge maryville does have is experience in the polayoffs and coaches experience in the playoffs. central's advantage is no one is expecting them to compete, definite momentum for these guys, and they have nothing to lose. if we lose, we go home, we were expected to lose. if we win, we have the biggest upset in this area in a while. playbooks are a lot bigger when u have NOTHING to lose. Good luck to both teams, but definitely don't count out those pounders, cause athlete for athlete, player for player, it IS an even match. this game is actually on the coaches. Which coach has his team more ready to play? and what coaching staff coaches the best from the sidelines. gameplanning is good, but the whole gameplan changes once u get on that field, because with athletes that can make plays, u can't practice or gameplan for miss tackles or speed. GOOD LUCK POUNDERS!!

maryville is the best team in the land. hands down. BUT, on any given Friday, anything can happen. If the pounders can get past the crowd and the travel and come out in the first half the way they did last year against knox central. They have a shot, and that's all u can ask for. Good luck to both teams, but I am pulling for my pounders!!

i believe the guy we haven't mentioned is adam medlock of central...undersized moved into middle linebacker in place of standout brent hayes and is in the top five in tackles right now. central's defense has picked it up and rallied behind him and they stand tall against opponents. as he goes, so do the pounders. honorable mention: cleveland's middle backer= stud!! robert woods is a playmaker. when u think of a linebacker that makes the team better, he is the one. he always makes the big plays...ints, cause fumbles, blocked punts. shot out to brent hayes...ur still number one buddy!!

I agree that competition for the pounders haven't been as fierce as usually, but when u beat a rhea county team and a loaded hixson team, take cleveland to the brink on a game they should have one...handle knox powell the way they did, u have to give them something. the pounders are a good football team that has not realized their potential yet. A true test as to if they are an elite team is this week against maryville. They are consistently the best in the state. If the pounders play their game, this game is not out of reach. You have to give Jones credit for turning around this program because in recent years, no matter what kind of team u had a guaranteed "w" was when central was on your schedule. So take nothing away from coach jones and what he has done there. other good coaches, i'd say are ralph potter at macallie, adkins at boyd, and fitzgerald at rhea county...he always has those guys competing no matter what. i think jones has a ways to go to prove himself with some of these more winning tradition. A turn around is good, but can he sustain it like potter or a wayne turner?
