  1. Those are pretty good. I think I have a pretty good story. Calling traveling ball last summer a coach took it upon himself to complain about everything. Finally after three innings the coach comes out of the dugout to to tell my partner what he thinks of him. My partner was a pretty level-headed guy so he gave him a warning and told him to return to the dugout. As he was walkintg back the coach was still running his mouth. My partner once again turned around to confront him and he said quote "If I here one more word out of you your outta here." So the coach returned to the dugout. Well at the same time the coach is returning to his dugout, the coach of the opposing team, who was coaching first base at the time near the opposing teams dugout says "Hey Blue" to announce a line up change. At that moment my partner turned around and threw the coach, who had not said a word the whole game and was only trying to announce a line up change, out of the ballgame. This began a series of rants from the fans of that team. After the whole mess was sorted out Everyone couldnt help but laugh at the situation.
  2. FBE, Rhett was working at center during SP because cory Everett was injured. Cory is back in full swing now. Tucker was playing b-ball during Sp. Rhett will prbably play tackle.
  3. Wad, I love your description of a typical game. I am a student ump, in blount county and i have loved reading the responses to your post. Hes not whining, he is simply stating the average game. This is my third year calling for TSSAA and the experience has been invaluable. After equipment costs, it is the best job for a student in the world. It teaches you responsibility, tests you concentration(especially during middle school games), and gives you a taste of what adults are like in the real world. Now dont get me wrong here, I love baseball parents, they are some of the most dedicated people in the world, with so many games to be played, tournaments to go to, not to mention the costs of equipment and other travel expenses, but I find it to be hilarious, when here i am a 17 year old umpire who knows what hes doing, has taken tests, and has read his rulebook up and down, gets heckled by a parent who has no idea what he or she is talking about before the game even starts. But that is part of the game, if you dont love baseball and everything that comes with it then dont do it cause its not for you. I hear officials complain about a coach asking a question about a call. Yes sometimes they do get out of line, but your being payed 55 dollars to answer his question no matter how stupid you think it may be. Cbomb, your not the only one who is having umpire trouble. This state has an obvious umpire shortage, but trust me your area's assigning officer is doing everything in his power to get 2 umpires to every game.
  4. BigReb, has Brooks came on enough to let Tucker go to defense full-time? 825 Lawrence. Go Rebs. StarsnBars, I'd say yes. He knows the playbook, and his size change is amazing. Having Tucker and Smith on the D-line would be awesome.
  5. RebelRon.Yeah, this is who you think it is. I just wanted to see how we stacked up against the rest of the state. Right now were really excited about next year. Were working our rear ends off in the weightroom and everyone is getting bigger and stronger. Depth is a question, but if we stay healthy i think we'll be alright. We were back in the weightroom the monday after the Mo west loss and we are detemined not to end our senior year like our season was ended last year. Were getting faster more then anything. Our flexibility is increasing, and size shouldn't be a problem. The most noticeble change in size has been Rhett Brooks, he has been hitting the weights hard and he has gotten alot thicker. NO-ONE will push us around next year, that is for sure.Just one more step closer to the cool nights and war drums at the "Skeeter"
  6. Which school will have the dominant Offensive Line in 4a this coming year?
  7. Scared of the Purple Pounders. hahahahahaha. THEY WEAR PURPLE. They were big but trust me not one maryville player was scared of them last year, they were tough and hung on there for a while, but depth got to them like it does to most. They were also very undisciplined.
  8. The rumor on this thread are hilarious. Casey Clausen's little brother is not coming to Maryville neither is a kid from halls. I hear all the recruiting talk and i laugh because i can pull out elementary school year books and look at all of the kids on the maryville ball squad, and remember playing with all of them in pee-wee's. Maryville has one transfer this year and that is stephen childs from smyrna. He should help the team out alot, the move accomadated the family very well. The family is alot closer to stephens older brother now who plays at Maryville College. The Huber news is new to me. He was walking the halls at maryville one day 2 weeks ago but everyone i heard talking about it said that he was staying at central. Powell will be big and much improved form last years squad, I heard that Zach Helton going to Powell was a definite thing, someone fill me in.
  9. Please give me one good reason why alcoa will beat maryville next year. Just one. And dont tell me its because of the Marshpit and ur cut up rebel flags. I just dont see it happening. And since u boys are up to date on all things alcoa i hear that ur boy dustin lindsey is movin on over to WB next year. Fill me in.
  10. C'mon now. Let's look at things her for a second. First of all i can tell you that Maryville kids aren't rich. Sorry everyone can just get that thought out of these posts. Second, Ahsbaseball, chances are you decided not to go to Maryville because you probably wouldn't play. And yes maryville is confident, but they are also a little bit cocky. You have to be a little bit cocky to win 39 games in a row. Maryville has played some teams in the past few years, that they have not matched up well against size wise, but good coaching and that confidence that they dont care who they play there gonna win has won many ballgames at the "Skeeter". And excuses havn't been made about lst years loss to Mo-West. Mo-West made the big plays when they mattered, thats what it came down to.
  11. Shut up! Man, this is getting old. Yes Brandon Warren is a good athlete, but one player doesn't win a football game. Maryville will run the ball all over them. Alcoa has no players up front. Sorry end of arguement, but youre probably jsut gonna to continue with your comments about tears, there getting a bit old.
  12. Give me a break. "Marsh Pit" and "TNVOL" have absouloutly no idea what there talking about. Just look at the facts. Maryville works harder, therefore they play better. IM friends with a couple boys from alcoa and they said they have trouble getting people to even show up for workouts. Theres no reason in even fighting about this. The Maryville and Alcoa game comes down to one thing every year "depth". Alcoa has excellent depth for a 2A school but, for example when Maryville turns the ball over six times and Alcoa is fighting with everything they have just to keep up, its kind of obvious who the better team is. Alcoa hasnt had a decent line since there state title run in 2000. Maryville returns five senior offensive lineman, a senior running back, a junior running back who ran all over yall last year. Senior quaterback and senior recievers. And whats with the basketball reference. The whole point of posting on this board is to get away from all of that crap. Face the inevitible. Maryville by at least 20. IM just glad that the games not at alcoa this year. Those 15 fans in the "marshpit" scare the crap out of the rebels. And the fake money comment was real cute to. Considering that class has been gone for a couple of years now, I take it that u guys are still listening to "Who let the dogs out" as well.
  13. I know Alex and I believe that he should stick with baseball, but he is going to pursue football at UT. He's going to walk-on but he better be prepared to be carried off becuase them boys are alot different then opponents he faced Friday nights at the "Skeeter"
  14. I believe that TSSAA has a great system as we speak. I believe that the pre-season scrimmages between teams from different classifications are alot of fun for the players and the fans. For example, Maryville scrimmaged Oak Ridge, Austin East, and Dobyns-Bennett, and a dominant 6a team from georgia. These games are great building blocks fro teams to see where they stand. One thing I would like to change is the way the playoff brackets are handled. I believe that home-field advantage for the semi-finals should favor the team theat won the regular season meeting. If they have not played, then the best overall record, region record, and so on.
  15. Good Post RebelRon Everyone has blown this thread way out of proportion. It was initially started to have intelligent replies about balanced offenses. Instead it turns into a Maryville bashing thread. Give me a break, Maryville lost. Thats is. The win streak couldn't have gone forever. Its a shame when ADULTS bash 15-18 year old kids who work their butts off to play the game that they love and be successful at it. Don't expect Maryville to let up anytime soon, they work hard, have fun, and they know how to win. GO REBS!!
