  1. Coachh: Hope you and the fam are doing well. Chuck was a good guy for sure. He fought a long fight and now is at rest. I told him as recently as last week that he would be watching Kelli play this year no matter what....either from the stands or in the rafters. He just smiled and nodded. Matter of fact all that man did was smile, no matter what. He will be missed by many in this community. Perhaps this years team can adopt his favorite rally cry at the games....."Lets go Gang!" Krich: To you I must borrow a quote the lowly Lee Corso...."Not so fast my friend". Don't put us on that pedestal! Better than last year?, man thats a tall order! The cyclones will be deep and young. Only two seniors. And the talent is there. But the loss of Rikki and Val cannot be underestimated. Those two kids won alot of games in the last four years and coachh can attest to that. This team will have its own identity thats for sure. Cameron has shown good leadership. I do think this years team has a chance to be special. They are working hard. It is a very competitive situation for the last few varsity spots. Coach Weems has a history of coaching his players "up" and that bodes well for the lady cyclones this year. As for Unicoi, having played them twice this summer, I can tell you that they will definitely be a force to be reckoned with. Hope you are doing well.
  2. Hey coachh, I just discovered that the forum was now open to all to post. I am told that voluntary workouts have been intense, spirited, and tough. First real practice and tryouts are monday and tuesday of next week. Started with about 35 girls a month ago in voluntary conditioning workouts, down to about 25 now. I think Coach Weems is going to do an excellent job at EHS. No new injuries except some sore muscles!! All the returning seniors and juniors are still playing.
  3. PF's two losses at the end were to Region One champ Elizabethton who beat No One Oliver Springs in the substate and was only stopped by the state champs (Chester Co) in the state quarters AND Austin East which won out till the end until the state championship game with Chester Co. So I'd say Pigeon Forge has nothing to hang their head about. They had a great season.
  4. Seems like DevilFanatic guaranteed the Gold Ball would stay in District 7AA in 05. Heck DF, District 7AA didnt have a team get to the Regional Final, much less the big dance. You disappeared for awhile. Good to see you back DevilFanatic. BTW, in 05-06 all of the teams herein mentioned will have a shot, with a little luck and alot of hard work.
  5. AE is more athletic overall, but I agree seems to lack discipline. The player that got the stupid I/T foul that almost cost them the game was a freshman and the coach did sit her down after that, but that was her fourth foul I think. She is very talented but definitely has an attitude. Chester County is a very well coached team. The players all seem to know their roles. Holiday is an outstanding PG and Thomas may be the best player Ive seen all year. If Chester can handle the relentless AE pressure and play AE on defense as hard as they played EHS, then I think Chester will win. Both teams play very physical on defense. Should be an outstanding game.
  6. Krich: Thanks for the play by play copy. It was painful reading but I got through it. Both teams played great defense, and neither shot the ball worth a plug nickel. EHS just didnt have it offensively. Rikki and Michaela didnt get enough shots (14 total, while wings and PG took 24 combined) Chester Co was denying our posts the ball. They were much quicker, especially in the post, than what we have been seeing. We were never able to take advantage of our height advantage. Our guards just had an off night. Chester Co's pressure had alot to do with that. Our two wings and point guard were a combined 5 for 24.(3-11; 1-6, and 1-7 respectively) The two posts were 8 for 14. (Rikki was 6-9, MP was 2-5). 1 of 5 from the line. ( Rikki 1-4 and Val 0-1) Straight from the official play by play. Ouch!! We had 15 turnovers to Chesters 10. They outrebounded us 33-27, and had more steals 10-7. Had we shot the ball a little better and not had so many unforced turnovers, it may have been a different game. Chester took Walker Valley to the woodshed tonight. I dont know if that makes me feel any better or not!! It does tell me that this years lady cyclones were close, very close. They had an outstanding year. The seniors came into a program that had won four games in the two years prior to their arrival, combined. They leave a program with a legacy of winning. A legacy of Cyclone Pride. EHS returns three starters next year. They have about 10 more players that could contribute next year. There are only two rising seniors. This years strategy of playing starters 30+ minutes, probably won't carry the mail next year. Next year there may be strength in numbers...
  7. I think you may want to ask Chester Co if they won "easily". Four point game in the fourth quarter with cyclone possession, but another turnover sealed the deal. And OZ fan at least we were here to lose. We didnt begrudge your team last year. In the end there will only be three teams not feeling so good come saturday evening.............. My picks, after having watched some BB here: AAA Mt Juliet AA Walker Valley A Clarkrange
  8. Team played hard in the loss. Shots that we have been making did not go down. More turnovers than usual, but Chester County is very quick and aggressive which had something to do with it. On the outside the team seemed cool calm and collected but inside the jitterbugs were dancing, and it showed in some of our play. First time state tournament appearances have a way of doing that to a team. Chester County has been here three of the last four years and to be honest it showed on the court. A great great season. To the seniors, a great way to cap off a career, although not just exactly the ending they had in mind. To the underclassmen, a learning experience, to build on. Im proud of these lady cyclones! Cyclone Pride!
  9. CoachB: Team was excited to hear the news about your angel coming home! Prayers really do work. Krich: Marti will dress out today for the first time since her knee injury in late December. Obviously she wont play, being just two months post-ACL surgery, but the coaches wanted her to participate in warmups, on a walking, limited basis. It will be good to see her back in full battle gear.
  10. What a game between AE and OC; two OTs. Team seems quietly confident. Coach as well. Very business-like approach; Taking it all in. State tournament program lists EHS girls last appearance as 1928!?!? Say what. Thats what it says. All quiet here now, bedcheck and lights out have passed. Storm coming tommorrow though..............I hope!!!!
  11. perhaps you missed the earlier thread; I expect a close game. After watching the two OT game tonight between AE and OC, Im tired. What a game.
  12. Lady Cyclones have arrived safe and sound and are going to watch a little AA roundball at Murphy tonight.
  13. Goosevol I agree 100%, but that is the luck of the draw! Theres a storm a coming............
  14. Hey Goose, you been sniping Krich's posts!! Seriously guys, you both make valid points. I can only hope we get to play three games and find out!!!!
  15. As part of the advance storm team EHS, I have arrived. Other business took us to Music City today and we are now safely at Storm Watch HQ on the edge of the Boro. There's a storm a coming.............
  16. From what I understand, Chester County has a very good post (Holmes), an outstanding point guard (Holiday), and a Miss Basketball Finalist (Thomas)as a 5-11 wing who can shoot lights out and score in the post. Their other players are good and know their roles. Sound familiar? Elizabethton has much the same type of team. I think the key matchup is at point guard. The Chester PG is a Belmont signee and is about Val's size, and very very quick. I think EHS will more than hold their own in the post, and if they can get out on Thomas and keep her from hitting the threes (she hit 5 in the substate game), and control the PG's penetration, we should be able to keep Chester County in the 40s. I look for a close game.
  17. Lady Cyclones have a couple players themselves! One thing we dont have to worry about is wondering whether they "want to play". These kids bring their lunch bucket to the gym every day. A very dedicated bunch. And they know there is no "I" in their team. A very unselfish group.
  18. Tough ending for the Lady Rangers. As for their schedule, if it wasnt tough enough that wasnt their coaches fault. Their conference is short on teams and they must play up to get games; and to their credit they played pretty much anyone around who would schedule them. I do think that not having a tough game late in the season, until the last two, did hurt them. But it wasnt a scheduling issue. Anyway, a great season for the team and a great career for the seniors. And those Lady Cyclones are on a mission. Outside the local area, they havent gotten much credit. Chester County on thursday is number next. This team will not be in awe of the Muph. They know they belong there!!
  19. Sure good to see you CycloneBasketball up on that ladder helping cut the nets down!!!!!!! And how bout Wilson getting a cooler of water dumped on him after the game! Oliver Springs played tough all night, but we had what it took in the end to seal the deal. Great defense cyclones. This team has so much heart. And the fans, especially the crazy students were all over it. Lady Cyclones!!!!!!!! Cyclone Pride.
  20. Defense carries the day again for the lady cyclones who never trailed in this game. Great job girls, coaches and fans!! Great to see coachh17 helping cut down the nets. On to the Boro!!! Goooooooooo Lady Cyclones!!!!!!!!!!!
  21. Yo voice. She knows. The mask is off. I thought it was better to let her know than for her to think I was the scorekeeper or coachh!!!
  22. LTM: Youre right some of these posters are so so touchy! I said in my original post that dedicated good coaches do exactly what they were doing; and we were doing for that matter!! The funny thing is that these coaches chose the same time, same exit and same dern parking lot to make their exchanges!!! Twilight zone material. And for the record it was not Austin Easts coach we were meeting. But there Diamond2, for the record, we are very worried about the Lady Bobcats and have managed to get a little film of them. Im really rooting for the Lady Tigers tonight. Knock those Roadrunners off!! Orange and Black must still together, at least until next weekend!!
  23. Hey Voice, we dont need no stinking lawyers involved in this!!!! LTM: I assume you were on the visitors side last night; I suspect I saw you near midcourt but cant be sure; I think we met at our tournament two years ago when yall brought two teams; I am impressed by your program; it was apparent two years ago that your program was very much on the rise; our girls played in your gym as eighth graders two years ago in the sectional; the evil Greene devils beat us in the finals!
  24. LTM: Email me at Twisterstournament@hotmail.com and I will give you the straight scoop. And you are right in your assessment.
