AA rules

The center fielder had an MRI yesterday. Pretty sure she has torn ligaments in her knee, but wont know until get the results back Thursday. The left fielder had a concussion and pretty bad case of whiplash. She is getting better daily but is still awfully sore.

I can assure you that the young lady you are referring to has to much class to get on here with you Central and Polk folks and talk about your respective teams. She always has, and always will, do her talking on the court. Her record speaks for itself, both as a player and as a coach.

It certainly would have helped if Central would have chosen to play in a high profile holiday tourney instead of the Chatt. best of preps. Not sure what the thinking was there. Need to step out and face high level competition outside the district so you're not in shock when you DO come across that close game that is surely to come. Just my opinion and we all know what opinions are worth.

If you will take a look at Polk's non-district schedule this was not that big of an upset. They do have an impressive win-loss record but the schedule has a lot to do with that. Central is head and shoulders above everybody in this district but Meigs is MUCH improved over the last couple of years.

The 4th annual Tiger Classic softball tournament will be held March 13 & 14 at the Athens, TN Regional Park. Need 1 more team to complete the field of 16. Teams entered are: Polk Co., Union Co., Cleveland, Chatt. Central, Copper Basin, Johnson Co., Sequoyah, Bledsoe Co., Meigs Co., Tellico, McMinn Central, Notre Dame, Midway, McMinn County, and Bradley Central. Any idea why this team didn't go to a high level holiday tournament? I know they played in the Best of Preps tourney in Chatt. and that can hardly be considered high level. That would seem to be the best route to go to toughen up the schedule and prepare a team for tournament action. Just curious why the coach didn't see fit to enter into one.

Totally agree.......lots of folks need to be supportive or leave.......gonna be very hard to turn this thing around and get kids out with all the bashing going on. One correction....those supposed volunteer coaches had more than one good year, had about 4 or 5. BUT had very good athletes and mean, nasty lineman. When the cupboard started to run a little thin and a couple of relatives graduated they cut tail and ran......

I especially enjoyed watching the Central coach stand far away from his team so that everyone in attendance could watch as he flung his arms up to the heavens every time a penalty was called on the Chargers. And the self proclaimed proudest school in the state of tennessee surely wasnt proud of the actions of that player who go ejected for running his yap at the referees 1 too many times.

Being a lifelong Meigs fan I totally agree with you. Gene is a loyal, fair, caring and intense football coach. He will reward you for hard work and punish for no work. The parents who disagree with his style are parents who never played the game. I hope he stays but fully understand if he leaves. Good luck Gene in whatever you choose.

Somebody needs to tell these 2 guys that they volunteered to help because after asking them neither one remembers doing so...................and you find me a team full of talent and I will show you a good coach.....

Wanted to tell all you Polk County fans that the Meigs Co. baseball booster club is having a chili supper starting at 5 oclock before the game. If you want a good meal at a cheap price we would love to have you. The meal is $5 and that includes homemade chili, dessert and a drink and good fellowship.

I know its the truth, just hoping we can make a little better showing. It would help if teams in Region 3 would upgrade their non region schedule.

Just hope Region 3 AAA can win a couple in the playoffs this year. About tired of hearing how much better Region 4 is.

Don't think you want to travel down that road Trainer. If a kid that SHOULD be playing football but is not playing football don't blame it on the coaches. The truth is their is NOT that many athletes walking the halls at Meigs. The ones that are just do not have the commitment or "want to" to put in the work to be a member of the football team. As far as former head coaches volunteering their time to coach I say BULL. They are FORMER coaches for a reason. Either their ship has sailed or their relatives are no longer a member of our program. We have enough problems right now without any of you jumping on our coaches so lighten up and play the hand you have been dealt.

Just to throw in some facts from Coach Eller's first go around. 1991 Central 34 Meigs 6 1992 Meigs 15 Central 13 1993 Meigs 36 Central 21 1994 Meigs 36 Central 25 1995 Meigs 55 Central 16 (21-9 @ half and last 2 TD's scored by 3rd team QB) meigs state runnerup 1996 Central 27 Meigs 20 1997 Meigs 15 Central 7 NEVER has Meigs hung 60 something on Central so at least state facts when posting. This post was started by a fan from Central and joined in by others from around the state. NOBODY from Meigs has been on here crying about the score. It is Meigs' job to keep the score respectable and obviously we are going to have a long season. We can handle the adversity this season is going to bring and, as far as I know, not a single player is thinking of transferring. Public schools go through cycles with athletes and we will win or lose with our own. Central, learn to win with a little bit of class and by class I mean quit getting on here blowing your blue horns. Win a playoff game or two and then start chirping. Would also be a good idea to stick to coaching and not getting on here talking yourself up, could come back to bite you.

You know when you sit back and think about this it is kind of funny. The Meigs QB transfers to their arch rival and he STILL gets whacked by the Chargers.
