  1. Yeh I think the 3 girl pile up even caught the attention of both benches. They was pretty funny along with missing the dunk. And there should have been a technical on that and when Courtney slapped the backboard on the other end and when Meadows I think got a breakaway and touched the rim before he laid the ball in. But none of that really matters, It was another great page in the book on this rivalry. There is a slight chance they could meet again, but as we all know that is very doubtful until next year. Good luck to Central tomorrow and hopefully they will do pretty well in the region so people wont think of our district as so weak. As well good luck to the Owls tomorrow night against Brainerd. Maybe we can bring ourselves home a district title for a change.
  2. Well their season isnt over yet. They play tomorrow to see what seed they get for the region tournament. But if they lose any next week besides in the finals, it is done.
  3. Well I will guess we will have to just wait and see because with 5 seconds left to go in tonights game, I would have never thought Ooltewah would be the winner.
  4. The game itself was amazing. The best one I have been to probably ever. Both teams played well overall, but both were very streaky. The Owls got off to an early start and had things going their way but stopped hitting shots and Central came back early in the 1st quarter. The rest of the game was back and forth and Ooltewah had the luck on their sides at the end, the first time this year. Thursday night looks to be fun too and there is no telling what will happen next week in the region. I think I may be at your boys from Rhea County's game tomorrow against Cleveland, snakeinthegrass. That should be a good one too and good luck to both teams.
  5. The point is you were told. You didnt see it for yourself, which is a lot of the problem with the Grundy Hixson mess. Coach Nelms screamed and yelled at score and clock keeper but they werent the only people, he jumped on the refs several times too. Once he was at center court in the middle of a timeout.
  6. Yeh nothin went like that at the game. There was a player from Ooltewah and Central goin at each other with bows and holding but nothin serious. I dont know about the students thing but I do know that coach nelms was cussing because they lost or somethin and a parent said somethin smart and then they get into it and it was brokin up. This is a rivalry though and things like that always happen in rivalries. The clock ran after the missed free throw, although there was a confusion between ref and scorekeeper on a 2 by Central to trail that would have allowed Central to foul sooner and leave more on the clock. It was a good game and no there shouldnt be anybody reported because there is nothin to report.
  7. The funniest thing is how schools charge different prices for different games. I went to the Bradley Central @ Cleveland game last weekend and it was $5 dollars for everyone. Then when Ooltewah played Cleveland up there this past Thursday, it was $4 for parents and $2 for students. This doesnt make much sense to me, haha, but i guess it is the schools decision.
  8. Fanatic, according to coacht strength of schedule rankings, Bradley plays the toughest schedule in the state, who else would you like them to play. It is tough to get much better the #1.
  9. Great post basketballisbest. Great analysis of the games.
  10. Who do you think takes the 3 seed from this going to the region because it is important too b/c that team wont have to match up with Bradley-the favorite for the #1 seed in the other district, but without Pickel you never know who will take the district title.
  11. Very doubtful that he will.
  12. Next week starts the district tournaments as we all know. Who will take home the district title in 6-AAA. Will it be Chattanooga Central, Brainerd, Red Bank, or hopefully my own Ooltewah Owls?
  13. Thorough thanks for the info but I already knew that, OSB posted Greensboro.
  14. Well if you consider Cleveland and Rhea so much better because they have college prospects, why were the games so close? And Zach Hyatte prob wont go anywhere but some small college, the best player on that team is Randon Floyd and if he works hard enough he could go Division II as a guard, possibly better.
  15. Haha. Thats what makes high school basketball so great.
  16. I would have said Bradley would win this year but with Pickel hurt they may not even make it out of their region. So I would say White Station would be the favorite now. But from what I understand it isnt a walk in the park for them making it out of the region either. So anything goes.
  17. I have played against your boys Atchley, Ricketts, and Corey since middle school and they didnt quite contend with the boys of Ooltewah. Especially last year in freshman when they got beat by 40. But they are pretty good players. And supposedly Ooltewah is getting more kids to come out next year too so I guess we will just have to wait and see what happens.
  18. Yeh this is gonna be a great region. Your also forgetting about Cumberland County and Red Bank, they both of talent and the ability to pull the upset. It is gonna be 2 CrAzY weeks at the "New Barn."
  19. Yeh OldSkoolBalla, Coach Chris Baker can light it up with the best of them. And he is real competitive just like Coach Aaron Greene up at Cleveland. He played with our team this fall in pick up games like every day after school and could shoot the lights out on some of the Owls boys.
  20. 69-65 I think was the final score. Rhea won. It was another good close game and played well on both sides. #33 for Rhea County could shoot from anwhere...30 ft and hit 5 3s. Good game and just goes to show how good the Region 3AAA tourney will be.
  21. Ooltewah should be pretty good, but will be looking for some senior leadership. Holden Smith will probably be the starting pitcher although last year he pitched beter in relief, which may change depending on whether juniors like Ryan Jones, Brad Loy, and Justin Higdon and sophmores like Kyler Burke, John Howard, and Blake McDade. Early in the season, the Owls will have to rely on defense and the bats they had from last year. They have one addition to the lineup in Chris Mitchell, a middle infielder that just moved here from the Maryville area. He is a good ball player. I hope the Owls have a great season and good luck to my boys. Next year could be one of their best ever though. But u never know what will happen between now and then.
  22. Great game tonight by both teams!!! Ooltewah finally came together as a TEAM in the big game and finally pulled off a win. Courtney White and Ryan Merriman both shut each other down besides getting to the free throw line where both were very impressive. As I said was I a must before, Michael Newsome came off to an early start with Ooltewah's first 5 points. This was big for the Owls to get the outside game going especially with Hunter Augostino going 5 of 6 from behind the arc and I am amazed out how the 6th one didnt go down. Great game by both teams and it just goes to prove anything can happen on any given night. I cant wait to see these district matchups. Ohh yeh and on another note, Ooltewah got the sweep tonight on the road, winning both girls' games and both boys' games.
  23. Also if the Ooltewah guards shot well, which we havent seen happen against a zone, it will help alot. If Michael Newsome gets off to an early start, it could be good for the Owls.
  24. Well I am gonna go with the underdog Owls in this one. We havent played as a team in a big game yet nor played up to our potential. We have been having some good practices lately so I hear so I think we will pull together and come out with the upset. Or at least thats what I hope. Courtney White shows up for this game and gives Merriman a run for his money and the Owls finish it off late with some free throws. Ooltewah by 6.
